You should be able to Google Rom manager 2.5.0.1. They transfer it over to if SD card and name it P36IMG.ZIP and reboot holding volume down button and it should read it. Make sure the file is in the root directory of the SD card.

Make sure you Google Rom manager 2.5.0.4.apk. I had the same issue and it worked for me that way.

Why flash anything from rom manager. Just flash trough your recovery.

what exactly are you stating:
1.) you used a random backup on your SD card? If so do you know what the backup consisted of, was it a backup of your current rom?
2.) You had rom manager 3.0 installed when u restored the backup? What version of Rom Manger do you have installed now? and now your stating the Rom Mananger wont flash anything?
3.) Maybe someone else can help but what does gapps have to do with you downloading from the Market if you have CM6 installed?
4.) Did you backup any of your apps before restoring, if so you can use any file browser and reinstall Rom Manager v3.0
I hope im helping in some way just want to clerify what you saying
Hey all
Well I am having serious issues and am hoping for some help. I have been running Lou's senseless for a couple of months now (2.5.1.2 CWM) and loving it but I was intrigued with CM7 so I thought I would give it a try. In order to do so I had to update CWM to 3.0.0.8. I did so and flashed CM7 without issue. I was getting a lot of random FC after I installed my apps via TB (I mistakenly restored data). So being the bone head that I am I wiped data and tried to restore Senseless. Well, we all know that didn't go over too well. I performed a batt pull and restarted my phone but it just sits at the CM7 boot screen (I let it sit for nearly an hour).
So I figure ok, no problem. I'll just down grade to an earlier CWM. I downloaded 2.5.1.2 from Doug Piston's site, renamed it PM31IMG but it is no where to be found. I've downloaded it numerous times on the root of my card but when I go into recovery it's nowhere to be found. I'm dead in the water here guys. Please help.
For the record I am running an Amoled Dinc with HBOOT .92
Is your SD card formatted fat32? In order for hboot to read a file on the root of your SD it has to be formatted fat32.... check that and make sure plus make sure the file is named exactly PB31IMG.zip or it wont work? Ill check back soon

I just reread your problem files don't atomaticly go to the root when you download they go in a download folder .... you need to pull the file out of there and place it on the root which is the main area of the SD card not in a folder

Hello,
I am having some serious issues with my Evo. For several weeks now my Gmail accounts have not been syncing at all, incredibly frustrating, to say the least. I was hoping that the Gingerbread update would take care of this, so I followed all the instructions I could find, downloaded the de-odexed zip update, booted into recovery, wiped davlik, then installed that zip, and it seems to have updated (I'm running 2.3.3 now, that's the updated version, right?). However, not only has that not solved my syncing issue, but now when I went into Titanium Backup, it said that it could not establish root access! Also, when I go into ROM Manager and try to "Manage and Restore Backups," nothing comes up, when I know there are 3 backups on there (I was trying to delete one of them to free up space on my SD card).
Maybe related are the terrible space issues I've been having. It's also for some time now been telling me that I'm running low on space, but I have moved virtually all of the big programs to the SD card and deleted things I do not use, so I really don't understand how it's having such space issues.
Anyway, I really need some help here. I guess the number one most important thing I need to figure out is why I am no longer rooted. Can I just reroot like I did in the first place? But I'm also very bothered by this syncing problem, and the space issue is not far behind.
Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Do you have the superuser app and what version is your hboot?

Oh and do you have a recovery on that still works like among RA or clockwordmod (amon RA is way better tho)
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
I do have SuperUser, but have used it very little - what can I do with it/what will it tell me?? Not sure what HBoot version I have - where do I find that?
I don't have Amon RA, I do have ClockWorkMod, although I'm a little confused - what is ROM Manager? I'm not sure if ClockWorkMod still works - how can I tell?
Sorry, I'm obviously fairly a novice at this. Thanks much for your quick reply, and thanks in advance for your help.
Superuser is the app that gives you root permission
and rom manager is an app for beginners that will allow people to download roms and making backups doesnt do nothing
OK im going to help you now but your going to have to flash a new rom and everything ok tell me when your ready
Ah, OK. Fantastic, thanks so much!!! I am ready anytime...

Oh shoot, I just realized that, since I'm at work, I'm not going to be able to put anything on the SD card until I get home later tonight. Maybe you can just spell out the instructions and I'll give it whirl tonight?
Also, I just clicked on that link though, and got this message - "Parameter 'out' is required."
Thanks so much again!

Thanks much to both of you. Yeah, all I really want is the updated stock rom rooted, I'll be happy with that. I'll try out what you suggested later and let you know what happens.
In the meantime, anyone have thoughts on my storage issues? It fluctuates like crazy, goes from 50 MB+ free, down to like 4. Driving me absolutely crazy!
My evo cannot install apk's and whenever i boot up a rom i downloaded from my computer it randomly reboots. The rom's I tried were Alter rom and elite series resurected. The only roms i got to work were evo classic and dark light. Please help me.
Some backstory. It all started when i flashed Evo classic last night and I did not have the Google Play Store. I decided to get an APK. What I did was got an APK from a thread on XDA I tried to install it through the Downloads app but it froze up my phone and just rebooted. I tried this several other times with no luck.
Thanks in advance.
Some roms you have to flash google proprietary files.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
You did not say that you made a nandroid back up of your phone, have you? If not, you just experienced why you should start.
What recovery are you using? Have you tried wiping dalvik and cache to see if that helps?
More details on what you did to get yourself in this situation would be helpful.

I did that. For dark light i used ICS Gapps. And when I rebooted there was no play store. Also for Classic sense I went through setup, and there was no playstore.
I am thinking this could be a Sd card issue.
You can't flash ICS on anything below 4.0. It won't work
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
I tried sense 1.0 and I had a Android backup of dark light I tried to go back to that but no market so I used am on ra to fix permissions then I installed gaaps and there was a market. But when I install an app or apk my phone reboots.
If it were me, I'd:
1) Backup the files on SD
2) In Recovery: Reformat/re-partition SD
3) Copy a ROM .zip to SD
4) In Recovery: Flash ROM
5) In Recovery: Save recovery.log to SD
6) Post recovery.log here
If you do this with AlterROM, you'll need to use the Save Log option at the end of the installer.

Thanks but I think I found out the problem what I did was install a rom ran gaaps went into recovery fixed permissions took out my SD card booted up the phone downloaded something from the market put my SD back in and everything worked. Also I tried AlterRom but when I got done with aroma and booted it up there was no launcher. So what I am thinking is that its an SD card issue. And other help would be appreciated.
Thanks for reading my tome of knoledge . Any help is appreciated.

Hi all, ive had my Tmobile samsung galaxy s2 for awhile now, and i finally decided to root it (and did it successfully) a few days ago (yay)
Ive done a bit of research for what I can do while rooted, basically after CPU setting, save battery life when idle... Simple things
But ive been meaning to try flashing a ROM. But I want to make sure i know absolutely everything needed to know to flash one. I had a samsung tmobile sidekick that I was able to root and flash Gingerclone on, but I remember it had alot of little details while installing that simply missing one could seriously screw up your phone
So first off, if anyone has had the sidekick: Is flashing/ installing roms as complex on the sgh-t989 as it is on sidekick 4g?
And secondly... After rooting my galaxy, i no longer have the stock android recovery (obviously)...... Instead it is replaced with CWM-based recovery (i think 5.0.2.2?). Is there a difference between this and Clockworkmod recovert (which should show an orange screen)?
I wanted to use ROM manager but opted not to when it told me that I "needed clockworkmod recovery installed" to work.
A little help, please?
Thanks!

Okay, great! Glad it was so simple lol.
Now about my other question... Let me explain. When I would install a custom ROM on my sidekick, i remember having to do all sorts of things like unmount system/ unmount SD card before installing and remount them after (i dont remember the exact methods... Dont quote me on that).
I know the general procedure of basically Wiping data, Wiping cache, Wiping delvik cache... But does the galaxy s2 require checking of all of that unmounting/mounting?

Flashed many roms, and no need for all that. Just make sure you wait the 10 minutes after flashing a rom.
FlaShing roms on this phone is so simple "that even a caveman can do it". I would also advise to ditch clockwork recovery and install twrp, also never use rom manager to flash roms. Just follow the op's instructions on what steps to follow to flash the rom successfully. Also no need to mount and unmount anything. Good luck.
Awesome! Thank you all for your replies, glad to here that flashing is much simpler on this phone
I really wouldnt recommend anyone rooting a sidekick as a beginner. It was my phone, i soft bricked ot my first time. Ugh, it was such a hassle! And it left me a little traumatized to try anything on this. lol!
Thanks for all the help!
Here are the genreric steps to follow to flash a rom (and yes, TWRP is recommended instead of CWM):
- place the rom zip on the internal storage
- place a copy of the radio zip that you have on the internat storage (for safety reasons)
- copy Google Apps zip if it is not included in the rom (most roms do not have these included, but the dev might provide a tuned version)
- reboot phone and enter the recovery menu (hold vol up + vol down pressed while booting)
# In recovery mode
- wipe data
- wipe system
-(Use Darkside Super wipe if still on cwm 5.0.2.7 or below)
- flash rom
- flash gapps (if missing from the rom)
- wipe cache/ dalvik cache.
- reboot and wait 10 mins
- reboot and wait 1 minute
- enjoy
If you are planning on flashing a Rom on your phone of course twrp recommended and you should definitely try Jedi mind trick x2 for the t989 Hercules. It is the most stable Rom on the Samsung galaxy s2 T989 T-Mobile. The instructions above are the best instructions you should follow. And read it carefully or you will brick your device. If using twrp follow the twrp method. And if using cwm make sure you use the extra cwm steps. It is super important you follow them unless you want a fancy paper weight.
