[Q] Lockscreen Wallpaper Not Changing? - Sprint LG Optimus G

I am trying to change the lockscreen wallpaper on my stock, unlocked, rooted Optimus G, and it's not working.. It used to work, but over the past month or so it has not worked.. I go to the Settings app, then to Lock Screen, then to Wallpaper, and change it, but it stays the same as the current one I have, it never changes..
Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks

Same thing happened to me. Follow along and see what helped me (YMMV):
I. If you are running a 3rd party launcher:
1. Reset to stock LG launcher:
System Settings --> Home screen --> Select Home --> select "Home"
2. Clear Lock Screen Cache:
System Settings --> Apps --> All --> Lock Screen Settings --> Force stop --> Clear cache
3. Choose Lock Screen photo:
System Settings --> Lock Screen --> Wallpaper --> make your choice and crop as necessary
4. Profit
5. Go back to your 3rd party launcher:
System Settings --> Home screen --> Select Home --> select your launcher
II. If you are already running stock LG launcher, follow steps 2-4.

Tried this using steps 2-4 (running lifeless with lg stock launcher) and after I force stop the lockscreen, i don't get the option to clear cache... It remains greyed out. Any ideas? Thanks.

Yep that's exactly what happens with me.. Also the steps did not solve my problem..So the weird thing for me is that if I change the wallpaper to a wallpaper that came with the phone, the lockscreen wallpaper changes just fine, but if I go to change it to something custom, the wallpaper just switches back to a really old one I had a long time ago and doesn't allow me to change it to a new custom one...

My guess... Only a guess now but try two things... Check the properties of the stock papers and try downloading other papers with alike specs and maybe using a root file browser dig into your fines and find where the stock papers are stirred then copy then into that folder

I looked into doing that, but apparently the stock wallpapers are stored in the LGLauncher.apk or something, so I would have to extract the wallpapers from that, and obviously I can't easily add wallpapers to that...

The wallpapers that come stock on the phone are stored in two places. LGHome3.apk for the launcher and LockScreenSettings.apk for the lockscreen. Why they are in both places who knows, but it is kind of a pain to change them. Something that worked for me when getting this problem was doing a factory reset in TWRP, although that was stock based ROMS and not on the original stock. Worth a try if you haven't already.

I could only suggest clearing cache first, then force stopping. Maybe also try a reboot before trying to change the wallpaper.
Also, I am not running a custom ROM. I'm rooted an unlocked still running stock just FYI. Don't know if that might make a difference. I saw PartimusPrime is running Lifeless.

Yeah the weird part is it doesn't give me a cache to clear... I tried going back to my original stock rom and the lockscreen wallpaper changed without issues... Lifeless for some reason doesn't want to change it.

Glad you were able to get it fixed  though at the expense of something else.
Maybe the creator of Lifeless can look into it.

The problem is probably a permissions issue with the .jpg files that the lockscreen settings replace with the image you choose.
I can't remember the location, but digging around in /data for "lg settings" or "lockscreen" folder for the .jpg files and changing the permissions to writable will fix it.

Okay so I found the wallpaper located at the following path:
/data/user/0/com.lge.lockscreensettings/wallpaper.png
This .PNG was the lock screen wallpaper that wouldn't even change, the custom one. I changed the permissions to allow everything and I was able to change it! So go to that path, go to the properties of the wallpaper.png and change the permissions and it'll work.

[SCRIPT] TWLauncher Modder (enable Landscape, set default screen) [14/10/2010]

Finally it's done
The script...
Should work for every firmware.
Requirements:
Java (JDK) on a windows pc
rooted device, busybox, ClockworkMod Recovery
How to use:
Download zip file and extract.
Start Script.bat and follow the steps described.
If you have a odexed rom your launcher will be deodexed automatically
I used parts of this script for deodexing
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=598026
Make sure that you have installed (and selected as default) another Launcher (e.g. LauncherPro or ADW) while flashing, otherwise the Launcher won't work.
If someone has an explanation for this, give me a hint
Known issues
It's not possible to deactivate landscape mode. Even with auto-rotation off, TWLauncher will still get in landscape mode. (thx Daneshm90)
Your homescreens will be resetted. Solution:
Backup this file manually
/dbdata/databases/com.sec.android.app.twlauncher/launcher.db
and put it back in place after you flashed the modified launcher.
Once you put your Widgets back on screen they should have the same settings as before.
It may happen that the first flash won't work (even with an alternative launcher installed). If that happens, restore the original launcher and retry again. Another thing I don't have an explantion for...
Download
TWModder.zip
The script has been tested only on a few devices up to now, so please use it at your own risk.
No problems detetcted though.
Thx to Daneshm90 for helping with the script.

update.zip_restore
Rename in update.zip and flash through recovery.
Hello. This certainly seems very interesting indeed. Could you explain a little further what you mean by the options to change the default screen? Perhaps posting screenshots would better help understanding the available screen options that you are giving as "update.zip_default_screen_2" and so on.....
Cheers....

If you press the HOME-button using TWLauncher it always gets you back to screen 1 (on the very left).
With this one
update.zip_default_screen_2
it takes you back to screen 2
...
One thing:
Using the TWLauncher with default screen 4, please do not use less than 4 screens!
update.zip link does not work
Nice! I always wanted that. I even noticed it somehow gets activated by accident - like when I open a folder from Folder Organizer while holding it sideways, the icons in the back (and certain popups) are in landscape orientation.
Is this mod possible on JM8?

Widgets should appear with the same settings as before once put on the homescreen.
Or you can backup this file manually
/dbdata/databases/com.sec.android.app.twlauncher/launcher.db
and put it back in place after flashing the modified launcher.
Will add that in the first post...
I can also confirm that update.zip_deafult_screen_4 doesn't work on my JPK rooted, the phone go to a black screen, i can only open to the notification windows but nothing else.
Can i revert to normal touchwiz? Is there an update.zip with jpk standard TW?
Sorry, my mistake! i haven't read all the post, i have found the original TW file and the info about other home launcher to configure. tnx anyway for your work
Work's Perfectly now, and the transition is fast, also in application menu! That's what i'm looking for! Thank's a lot you are great
Yeah, I got it running now aswell. Is it a modified version of the JPK launcher or from the old sourcecode?
Will it also work on the new XXJPO firmware?

[Q] Live Wallpapers Gone?

I never really use Live Wallpapers on my Evo, but I noticed today that the option is completely gone now. HW 003 with latest stock OTA rooted with unrevoked.
Menu -> Wallpaper from the stock home screen and Launcher Pro Plus are both missing the Live Wallpapers option, and if I try to open a Live Wallpaper from the Market (which installs fine), it tells me my phone does not support Live Wallpapers.
The two things I can think of that I've done lately are installing Launcher Pro Plus and running Fix Permissions from ROM Manager (seeking better battery life). Currently my LiveWallpapers.apk and LiveWallpapersPicker.apk have permissions of 644, but changing them to 777 seems to have no effect (even after a reboot).
I tried several things last night:
uninstalled Launcher Pro
reinstalled busybox
ran fix permissions from Clockwork Recovery
attempted to reinstall LiveWallpapers.apk
I say attempted because the install failed on both LiveWallpapers.apk and LiveWallpapersPicker.apk. I grabbed these from the latest Sprint OTA update.
Now, according to Astro, both apk's are in /system/apps, but there is no uninstall option, just install.
Can anyone lend me a hand? I have a nandroid backup from a few weeks ago, but I don't really want to flash it unless it's absolutely necessary. Thanks in advance.

I don't use ROM Manager for anything. It is far too easy and more productive to do things manually. Using Root Explorer or another file manager that lets you alter system files, you can easily maneuver to the /system/app folder, select the live wallpaper .apk, select Mount R/W and set the permissions to however you see fit. Hopefully, you've made a nandroid backup of your device PRIOR to making the changes that have caused you these problems. If not, get in the habit of doing so because if things go wrong or you find that you want to return things back to the way they were prior to the change(s), all you have to do is nandroid restore. Everything would be as it was.

Thanks for the response. Root Explorer is indeed how I set the apk's permissions to 777 just to test. I'm not in the habit of making nandroid backups unless I'm flashing something.
I'm not trying to blame ROM Manager and/or Launcher Pro, just wracking my brain trying to figure out how I got here. I could have very easily lost Live Wallpapers long before either of those.
Edit Update:
I broke down and flashed to my nandroid backup from sometime before running fix permissions and installing Launcher Pro... still no Live Wallpapers option. Now I'm out of ideas.

It's been a while since I've used LauncherPro extensively, but and I could be mistaken, but there's a chance that the HTC live wallpaper may be off limits while using LP like many of the HTC widgets are. The reason I say this is because your nandroid restore from long before your fix did not produce any live wallpapers. Do this, if you have the time: go into the applications menu, clear defaults after scrolling down and selecting LauncherPro. Press the home button and then select Sense as your launcher. Now select a live wallpaper and see if it displays. If it does then you know they are off limits to LP.

Well, my nandroid was from before I ever installed Launcher Pro, and I'm testing with more than just the HTC live wallpapers, but clearing defaults and data for Launcher Pro changed nothing.

[Q] After root, stock ROM re-install and de-clutter, live wallpapers are missing.

I recently got an S3, I rooted and installed the stock AT&T rom and then ran the Ashaman debloat tool. I never tried to access live wallpapers before or during this process, but I see they are missing. When I go to display settings and go to change the wallpaper, my only options are Gallery and Wallpapers, no Live Wallpapers. I've seen on others' S3 phones this is usually an option. Also, I found the apks for some of the default live wallpapers and tried to install those. They installed fine but when I tried to run one, it showed a pop up message that said something like "It looks like like wallpapers are not available on this device! Please check with the manufacturer..."
Does anyone know if I may have unintentionally uninstalled live wallpaper support? Or how to manually install it back in?

Xperia s home launcher not working

I m totally new to android customisation.
So here is what all I did and made phone completely useless for me.
1. I rooted my phone using eroot software posted on xda.
2.i deleted lock screen apk from system/apps and copied there the jellybean lockscreen apk. It worked fine
3. Then I deleted home.apk from system/apps, which is stock home launcher of Sony.(before deleting I copied it to sd card portion, to take a backup)
4. Now i installed lg optimus ui3 home launcher. This launcher worked well. But there was some icon text alignment issue.(file size was around 15 mb. I also installed whether widget with it)
5. Because of the issue I removed this launcher and installed some other lg optimus ui3 for hd device(1280x720)(file size was around 55mb). This solved the text alignment issue. But I was unable to open app drawer and it showed error.
6. So I decided to switch back to previous lg home launcher(which was having alignment issues). I again deleted the new lg ui apk and replaced it with previous lg ui apk.
7. Now is the main problem. Home launcher is not working. Its constantly showing error. Only background wallpaper is appearing and no home screen. No app icons or widget on home screen is appearing. As there is nothing appearing, I cant access app drawer to open root xplorer and change home launcher to stock home laucher(which I copied to sd card folder to take backup)
Phone turns on properly. It shows jelly bean lock screen. Iam also able to receive calls, sms, etc. I am able to access settings, notificatipn bar. I am able to launch camera from lock screen. But as I unlock the lock screen, it just shows wallpaper and error message that home launcher is not working. So I am not able to do anything else, not even make phone call.
Whst should I do?
Is there a way to access root folder through pc, so that I can replace lg ui home launcher with original sony home launcher?
Can I install any app on the device through pc, so that I can install some other home launcher like go launcher etc, which might solve the issue?
Kindly help....
Phone is only rooted, and nothing else( I mean I dont know anyrging about terms I read like recovery, flashboot, etc)

You can push a third-party launcher like Nova, Apex free edition via Flashtools using PC. Then you can use that launcher via phone to make any further changes.
thats a lesson I leanrt the hard way. Never play with home launchers unless you have a backup installed. But you can push it through adb or flashtool like mentioned already.
You can use Android commander on your pc to access the system/root folder.
Android commander can be downloaded freely, just use google and you can find it.

Firstly, I would request if someone could give me links to detailed guide on flashtools, custom roms, and related terms.
Now coming to the reported issue. As I said still need to find more about flash tools.
So I went ahead and downloaded android commander. In this application, even though my phone is rooted, it showed its not. So plan of deleting lg launcher apk from root folder and moving original launcher back to root folder, didnt work.
But in this application, there is another helpful tool of installer. It helps installing apk directly to your phone without use of phone. So I went ahead and downloaded go launcher apk and installed it using android commander installer tool.
Disconnected my phone. Pressed the home button and it gave me choice to switch between launcher apps installed.
After that I moved original launcher apk back to root folder using root explorer on phone itself.
And at last phone is working and back to normal.
Would like to thank all the three guys above for replying and helping with the issue.

build 47.2.A.10.45

Hi,
I have updated my XZ1 C. to this new build and I have noticed that when I unlock the phone my homescreen remains "stuck", doesn't refresh itself and widgets, for example the clock widget, shows the old time when I locked the phone. If I swipe left or right to next screens all widgets and app's icons remain still and I just see to slide the background image. To interrupt this behavior I have to tap the button to launch xperia home and show all apps icons.
Does this happen to you?

All those bugs and glitches are usually caused by updating the way you did. I stopped using this feature because i had similar problems. You need to perform a clean install using newflasher. Download newflasher and the firmware through XperiFirm (its boundled with FlashTool). Back up your contacts, pictures and any data you do not want to loose as this procedure will basically make your phone brand new. Remember to delete persist.sin file from the files extracted from firmware file(.FTF file).

Download newflasher and the firmware through XperiFirm (its boundled with FlashTool). Back up your contacts, pictures and any data you do not want to loose as this procedure will basically make your phone brand new. Remember to delete persist.sin file from the files extracted from firmware file(.FTF file).

i don't think this is needed. Instead of flashing anything anyhow, it's usually a good idea to try factory reset first. It's simple and you can't brick your phone. If that doesn't help, then try other stuff.

Hi,
I have updated my XZ1 C. to this new build and I have noticed that when I unlock the phone my homescreen remains "stuck", doesn't refresh itself and widgets, for example the clock widget, shows the old time when I locked the phone. If I swipe left or right to next screens all widgets and app's icons remain still and I just see to slide the background image. To interrupt this behavior I have to tap the button to launch xperia home and show all apps icons.
Does this happen to you?

I would just restart the phone first and then maybe try to wipe the cache if needed. If that fails then I guess its time for a factory reset.
I would love the clock back in it's old Oreo position.
It's awful ''they'' force us to get used to the clock on the LEFT, without the option of putting it back to the RIGHT.
