Disable location services. That's how I fixed mine, also go into Google maps and turn off everything relating to location.

I agree. I hate Google trying to use my phone anytime that I'm not. In addition to shutting off google location and freezing GTalk and Google Now I also always make modifications to the Google Services Framework to really shut down Google's ability to use my phone when it's in my pocket.
The result is that I have almost no wakelocks or alarms caused by the Google Services. And I have battery life coming out the wazoo!
Here's how....
This is a good old fashioned dirty fix, as it breaks some things. So this is not for everyone!!!!
You MUST be rooted for this to work. The ROM you are using shouldn't matter.
GTalk and GNow (and maybe a few other things) will not work after doing this. They are casualties of the dirty fix. But if you're like me and never use GTalk or GNow this will help. I'd bet that contacts sync and calender sync are also broken by this, but I don't use those so I don't know.
I used System Tuner Pro (The older version with the Green Android icon. Not the new one with the Blue guy. Both are available free on Google Play. But the new one doesn't have the option you'll need) to disable some of the start up items in the Google Services Framework.
First I froze GTalk and Gnow (Google Search). And no, you can't just freeze those two apps without touching the GSF. The GSF will still create wakelocks when trying to activate them even if they are not there. So you have to modify the GSF as well.
So go to System Tuner and select "Start Ups".
Then pick the Google Services Framework.
Then uncheck the things on the list below. (Basicall anything with GTalk or Checkin in the title)
gtalkservice.diagnostits.gtalkdiagnostics
gtalkservice.connection autherrordialog
talk.talkprovider
checkin.checinservices$reciever
checkin.checkinservices$triggerreciever
checkein.eventlogservices$receiver
gtalkservice.diagnostics.gtalkdiagnosticsbroadcast reciever
gtalkservice.serviceautostarter
gtalkservices.datamessagereciever
gtalkservice.sendxmppreciever
gtalkservices.packageinstalledreciever
gtalkservice.xmppendpointreciever
checkin.evenlogservice
gtalkservice.service.stalkservice
gtalkservice.pushmessagingregistar
You can freeze the GSF entirely with 1 easy step and that will also kill the wakelocks. But the Play Store becomes another casualty if you do that. Disabling the events above will stop the Google Services wakelocks dead in their tracks, and allow the Play Store to continue working. (Though I haven't tried purchasing a paid app yet) If you want to go that route you can do it but you'd have to unfreeze the GSF everytime you wanted to update an app.
One little quirk with this is that when you turn on wifi or mobile data, the signal bars don't turn colors. They stay gray because you aren't connecting to the google servers anymore. (They normally change color to indicate that you are connected to the Google servers). After a day I stopped noticing they didn't change colors.
I highly recommend making a Nandroid backup before trying any of this. Once you go that, go nuts! You can't hurt too much when messing with the GSF because it will just shut down google elements. Worst case, you can always just reactivate everything, reboot, and it'll all work like it did before you messed with it.
And worst case, if you totally louse up your ROM, just restore the Nandroid and it'll all be back to normal in a flash. (Get it? In a 'flash'...haha I crack myself up)
This should have the same effects on any ROM as the GSF is the same for all ROMs on all devices as long as it's the same version.
great tip on the google framework startups. you learn every day! :good:

i think if you go to application manager in settings and disable google now. its the same as freezing
edit: bbs is giving me partial wakelocks with "event log handoff" and "checkin handoff" after disabling it in framework services. do i have to reboot my phone after disabling services?

Freeze Google now as well. The app itself likes to wake the device to look around.
And yes, a restart might be needed after disabling the event log and check in stuff. Also make sure they are actually disabled. Sometimes they restart right when you disable them. I know this works as I haven't had an event hand off wake in about 8 months. Including since I moved to the gs4 last week.
And remember, this is a dirty fix! This severely cripples Google Services. So if you use those services, this is not for you!

Is strange, I removed Google + and hangouts and all see those options unchecked in my system tuner app. I assumed some of those options would have been gone after the deleted apps. How do i freeze Google now? I don't see any specific Google now app using titanium backup? Just want to be sure I'm good. Thanks slot guys you really helped me out a bunch. Found this on reddit today, but I have had this issue on a lot of my phones. Where it will come and go and eat huge chunks of my battery
It requires root, and when installed just scroll around and look for play services and Google services.
For me I had three Google services disabled re-enabled them and haven't had the wake locks yet today.

That has never worked for high google play services or Android OS eating huge chunks of battery.
Source I use greenify it has never helped with permentatly solved the off and on again issue of the above mentioned things.
Unless a dev can chime in why it's best to disable framework updaters
Thanks for this tip, i going to try it out.
Great tip , thanks..
But is not faster just to freeze stuff?
How do I kill this? Need a root?
Because those are killing my battery; more battery used than the screen itself...

Yes you'd need to have root.
You could then Greenify it, although certain things that depend on it may not work properly or It will always just fail to hibernate most of the time.
You could also grab App Ops from the Play Store and set it so that GPS cannot keep your phone Awake.
You could also disable CheckIn Services for it as well using AutoRun manager.
Keep in mind.... Things may not work properly after doing any of these.

Do you use Better Battery Stats by any chance? I'm wondering how much it's keeping your phone Awake and what App is the culprit.

This is after an hour of running without location feature. It has finally pushed Google services back a bit after the screen.
Before I've had Google services way ahead of the screen, which is downright insane.

OK well I'd suggest rooting your phone. Then use Greenify, set your WiFi Always Scanning to OFF, set location services to Battery Saving Mode if possible, try that Xposed Module I posted above, then you could also look into those other suggestions I listed above if you still weren't happy.

Thanks for ideas. So far it seems turning off location service really stopped Google services from eating my battery. Don't have time for deeper analysis, but if that helps, fine, don't really use much loc. stuff anyway.

Seems location didn't help. This service from hell is really something that needs to be addressed ASAP.
Is it possible to safely root G3 without triggering any kind of counters and to be able to unroot?
I was usually getting 5h from it, but this cuts it more than in half. Just over night without any real usage I've lost [Google services sucked] 29% of battery life!

I'm petty sure you're good. From what I've read on here these LGs are not like Samsung phones that have a counter or fuse that gets tripped. And I've also read that once you flash the TOT file and go back to stock there's no trace.
I'd Root then use Better Battery Stats to see what your Partial WakeLocks, and Alarms are exactly. Could use WakeLock Detector app as well.
There's many things it could be just easier to see by using that method.

If you need anymore help just post screen shots from Better Battery Stats or WakeLock Detector.
Do you use the Google Launcher along with "OK Google " by any chance? Google Search etc....

Haven't really coded much or fiddled with system since HTC Desire and Android 2.2. Just used SGS3 etc. so I'm a bit rusty with it. Anyway, it seems that Google puts a lot of services there with no settings like wake intervals and such. Sounds bad enough.

Well, correct, yes. But I'm not really satisfied with Google's ability to drain my battery from 89% to 63% over night. Just don't like it. My first try at G3 did not have this problem, but that was weeks ago.

I'd recommend that u reflash with factory reset (CSE flash). You have a big problem there since looking at your pictures that service is keeping your phone awake almost the same time as the runtime is. Don't bother too much with greenify or WLD cause it will just show you that service generating wakelocks and most probably a service under it called NlpCollector Wakelock. Even with location turned on and location reporting and history turned on, you shouldn't have as much. Google service should be in 5-10% zone in battery usage. You can also try with Force stopping the service and clearing data, that might help too but i know there were cases play store wouldn't work as intended after that meaning you would have to reflash anyway after that.
I've been experiencing battery drain issues with random apps even after shutting off permissions for those apps and shutting off background activity. These apps have also been added to battery optimization.
I've noticed this happens when I open the app and then shut them down, by swiping away from recent apps screen - verified by reopening the app and it never is in the memory and reloads. But they still continue to drain the battery in the background (as can be seen on the screenshot with battery drainers). Facebook is a usual culprit but not the only one, there is generally a few of them as you can see there are some games too. This pretty much keeps changing to different apps every now and then. I feel I'm doing something wrong which is really causing this drain.. every now and then. Any suggestions / opinions?
Thanks!

To add, I'm on the latest firmware with May security update (the one has been persistent throughout before and even now) ans not rooted.
How many time you do it ? Because it consumes less battery to keep them in memory than to reload all the apps every time you use them.

Just a pointer re Facebook.
Take a look at your System apps in Device /Settings /App category
Look for Facebook... and you will see other 3 x Facebook related
apps also listed ..!
You shut Facebook down but the Facebook Services, Facebook App Manager.. etc...? is still running and suckling battery.?
See my screen snip.
I most probably don't need to remind you that Facebook,
has over the past years, been fingered/known, to drain battery
.
My solution, which you most likely won't l "ike"
is to temporarily disable Facebook and the other Facebook related system apps.
Uninstall the one small Game or both??
and see if there is a improvement ?
Good luck.

That's the issue, Facebook doesn't really bother me but the games (or other apps like Twitter or tiktok or Instagram) do. And it's not always Facebook or these specific games. It's different each day - any apps I more frequently used that day continue to stick there consuming power. Every day it's a different set of apps. But wondering why stick causing a drain!

yes ,
Firstly ,
over the years ,i have been a few times, in similar "position" than you, re apps and battery draining .!
I know it's very frustrating ..annoying .....
and in the end i always ended up doing a factory reset . !!
I use a cross section of a different "set " of tools eg BettterbatteryStats ,Wakelock Detector lite ,Gsam Battery etc . ( all ADB enabled) to try and pinpoint the culprit ..
Unfortunately ,the permutation/reasons can be many ??
eg You installed and uninstalled an app and "something " eg System settings got corrupted .?
You disabled /freezed ,an System app and it has an knock on effect .
You did some mod /hack or maybe a sideloaded app thats causing it ..?
App that you installed that's badly coded .
It also could be that when you did an OTA to latest firmware that something/system ,got corrupted..?
Bottom line ,
You sitting with a very irritating/frustrating issue .
Your options is either to live with it ? or try and find the culprit ?
or doing a factory reset .?
Yes, i know you most likely, don't favor a factory reset.
As stated i always ended up doing a factory,on the spur of the moment !!!
Then doing a clean install from scratch ..a few apps at a time .......
Anyway it's your choice .??
Good luck .

Good luck .

Thanks buddy, you make some really good points. This is the first time ever that I haven't rooted the phone or done anything to disrupt the default OS. All I've done is the ADB permissions required for the GSAM Batteey app tk be able to pill detailed info.
I'm thinking if there's some way to reset all permissions and reconfigure them as the apps require? That has fixed things for me in the past.
Factory reset isn't an easy option for me because of RSA apps configured on the phone otherwise I've got to go through a few calls to get access - sorta irritating.
Hopeful something works but until then I'm letting it be lol.
Thanks!

I understand above if you say factory reset is an issue.!
I have a app call Bouncer paid (Play Store) installed on my device.
Don't think there is a free version, cannot remember, as I've had it for a while.
It basically controls your app permissions.
You can configure it to automatically remove permissions after using relevant app.
Also you can reset permissions.
It might help you.?
You can Google around a and see reviews.
To give you a idea, look at my screenshot.
Sorry, can't give any links, as it a paid app.
Good luck

Purchased the app. Kinda handy, but even after rule once set, when you come out of the app, you need to remove the permissions (the overlay window on top requests for removal) - that sorta adds work opening / closing apps.
My battery issues have improved immensely by putting the Facebook app in deep sleep. Battery life now is pretty decent.
check find my mobile.apk and samsung internet browser.apk if at all installed official apps from apkmirror etc the uninstall that apk and go through galaxy store but in galaxy store dont update findmymobile.apk

I suggest you take another look at your Bouncer settings.
You can auto remove it.
I had it on this setting but, change it to lock notifications, as i had better control.
Also remember to back up your Bouncer settings.
If ever you make a mistake you can just import you permission settings.
I forgot to do this a one stage and had to redo over Bouncer 200 apps.. Permissions...!
Otherwise if not sure as dev of Bouncer, for assistance
Good luck
Hi guys,
So around 1 month ago now, I got myself hands on a Note10+ (N975F)
I have been noticing screen off time drain, it is around 1.8% for me. I have tried using greenify, optimizing the settings, battery saving mode etc.
It hasn't really been working for me. Screen off time is really important for me, even more than screen on time.
So i wanted to know, how could I maximize the battery life of my Note10+? Is there like a custom rom you could recommend, like Lineage or dr ketan?
Knox is already tripped bcz of the previous owner, so that is no problem. Or a other custom rom or just with rooting something.
If you know anything, I would appreciate it if you could tell me,
Kind regards,
Crewz
First, you can select apps that you dont require to be always running, to be dormant, look for this option in settings, also you can install galaxy labs, there is a similar option there also, I disabled several apps via CCSWE, that have the undesirable behavior of being always running and accesing internet, such as facebook, chrome, youtube, operator apps, etc, also, with CCSWE you can deprive apps of certain undesired services that eat batt, this a process that takes some time, as you use the device, you can obseve and decide what to disable, to uninstall, or control via ccswe, I have my note 10+ since Sept 6 2019 and the battery lasts thru the whole day, I get some 7 hrs SOT on normal std use, when I play intensive games,, that is another diferent thing

Hey thank you for taking the time to help me. I have tried what you said, I went into settings and I went through my apps and selected those that don't need to run in the background. I also downloaded CCSWE from the playstore, i saw like 500 applications, but only disable or clear data from the application.
Are there any other device settings you recommend changing?
Thanks for your time.
Decide if you want to root it, if so you'll have many more options and tools to work with.
Otherwise get PD MDM to block apks from running at boot and disable them.
Use Samsung Device Manager and set to Optimized in main window. Toggle on fast charging but don't enable any other off the top 3 dot menu. You can then disable that app too. 3rd party power management apps including Samsung's can screw it up. Cloud apps, Goggle Backup Transport/Backup Framework are big offenders on my stock 10+
Disable Google, Samsung and any carrier feedback.
To hell with Bixby except Bixby Vision/Vision Framework which are needed by the cam for full functionality.
Play with it.

Hey thanks for your reply. I would want to root it, I am not sure how. I have owned a oneplus 7 pro where it was much easier to do.
If I would root, what other options and tools could I use?
Also, I did those settings things from the battery, thank you.
Not sure what you mean with Google / Samsung feedback.
For bixby I disabled almost everything except vision and routines.

Don't disable Bixby Framework either.
The feedback options are buried in settings, you'll run into them.
I'm not rooted so I don't spend much time looking at what I could do. You do have real time cpu/power usage capabilities with it for weeding out the hogs... for one thing.

Hmmm, can't really find those feedback options. I will enable the framework again.
I guess I will root when it is really needed to. First let's see what I can do without.

In the Goggle and Samsung account settings.
If it's a carrier phone one of the advanced network settings. Carrier phone; disable remote support, updates (unless you want an update), and all their software.
Keep Samsung account and apps related to Galaxy Store/Themes as you want to be able to download themes, icon packs and apps from there.
Excellent free icon packs... and the Good Lock family of apps.

Should be about 1% when sleeping with AOD on.
Keep the AOD to a bare minimum though ie just a clock no images.

Galaxy labs, Battery Tracker is useful.
See if Google Backup Transport or Framework are the culprits. If already package blocked clear their data and the data on Goggle Play Services ie gms.
It can be hard to ferret out as many apks simply are thrown together under Android Services.
Worse some Google apps falsely show under Transport etc even when its blocked. That why you clear the data of gms.
Use the factory load of Samsung Device Manager to globally clean caches. Reboots seldom help.
Turn off location, bt and wifi if not using.
Do not let Playstore run or Samsung updates unless your using them.
When running clean its ide current with screen on is typically in the 100-200 ma range. A few lower and higher. If you're getting a lot of spikes 400 ma and above at idle something is using a lot of the cpu resources...

So I installed Galaxy Labs and Battery Tracker.
I noticed that Google Foto's was on top with 7.1%.
Followed was whatsapp with 6.3%
And google play service was 3.78%
I haven't seen Google Backup Transport in the list.
Would there be like a way to turn off location automaticly when I am not using it, for example that it would only turn on for google maps or something?
Thanks for your time!

If you leave locations on it's a whore to a lot of apps including Google. Looks like you found your prime suspects.
Lol, WhatsApp never runs here same with FB.

Alright i'll see how that goes. Also, I got myself the original wireless charger from samsung today.
Would it be okay if I just putted it down on it whenever I am at my desk? I mean battery wize.
I've noticed idle battery drain on my phone and found out that it was caused by an app (it was the Shopee app), so I tried to prevent it from running in background, like limiting its permissions, turning off notifications both in app and phone settings, restricting background activity in Battery Saver.
But after sometime it happens again. I checked in App behavior and it says the app was started by Google Play services.
What does this mean and can I stop it permanently?
If you don't use it, why keep it !
Just uninstall it.

I have never said that I don't use it, can't you read? It's a shopping app and I only open it when I look for something to buy. Do you use your app 24/7???

Sorry, you not mentioning that u use it casually, so figured u don't use it. Still, I said "if" though.
Then try to uninstall and install it. Maybe it's the version you have.
If you have root. There are plenty of apps that can put it to sleep.
" rooting "
Hmmm, I know that Google Play Services can be launched by many apps to use any kind of sensors and APIs, but never heard of the opposite... maybe it's the case and is bad translated? In that case, try the BBS app and check what sensors are used

Oh sorry if my words hurt you.
Now, I was asking about GP services and strange app behavior, I want to know if someone had any similar experience. If I could just uninstall then I wouldn't waste your precious time by making this thread would I? That's just throwing the problem away, not solving it.

There are some apps that can disable other apps to auto-start without root, but may need adb commands if running on non-root device:
Brevent

Trash app, trash behavior.
Yeah uninstalling pretty much gets rid of the cause. Wonder what else it's doing?
Solving? That's how it was designed to behave... badly. I would have ditched it the first day.
Or
Disable Google play Services when not needed.
Arguing with members trying to help you won't further you along

Thank you, I do have magisk installed, I'll try Ice Box later and see how it works.
About the other 2, from their descriptions I think what they do is force closing unused apps automatically for you is that right? Would it be different from force closing manually? Because I did try to do that but GP services was still able to launch the app occasionally as reported in App behavior.
First time noticing play services could do this so I was really curious lol, idk if it was google services or the app developer can make it like that?

Brevent prevent apps auto-start, and auto-hybernate/auto-close the app when inactive of the time set in the brevent settings.
SuperFreezZ is as you described.
The following is all just guessing:
The reason that you see GP service launch Shopee app is probably Shopee app designed it.
The culprit is more likely Shopee app. It might have designed to wakeup / auto-start when there is change of the system in some conditions, which has some links to GP service.
