I call this ROM "Almost Vanilla" as it's built from 4.0.3 sources with a few necessary fixes and a tweak here and there. I don't intend to add much of anything, Google did a fantastic job this time around.
Everything should work in this ROM!

need google bits from 4.0.3... probally want to rip them from a galaxy nexus or nexus s official OTA
Flashed it, it booted, connected to 4g... Gonna see what can be done about gapps. Gonna grab a market apk and go from there.

I was looking at the official OTA zip hoping it was just a matter of yanking the APKs. Apparently they release the Gapp bits as patch files which get applied during the flash. I assume there must be a way to get them out of there but that stumped me.
Someone posted a nandroid in the S forums, maybe that would help?

Gapps-- all we should need is a market, right? The market should update itself, then we can download latest versions of everything else. I'll look for one of the old gapps versions that has market only.

This may sound silly, but If I were to open up the GAPPS zip you put up here, could I go in and remove items I don't want and have it still flash properly?
It would be nice if someone put up a CWM that only included the Play Market and Talk and whatever else you can't get on the Play Market...just to keep it as simply and small as possible....also eagerly awaiting for someone to post an inverted GAPPS CWM for Jellybean**
Thank you for the stock deodexed AOSP build!

You can do just that... just open the zip file, no need to extract it and search for system/app folder and delete what you do not want to flash.

You're welcome. The only apps in there are facelock, gmail and talk. What is taking space that is not needed are a couple of the video files, sound files and the boot screen. I have a slightly smaller version I use for myself that I can post later today for others who may want to use it.
Thank you...I'll give it a spin tonight...the Gapps are getting real big...I remember back during the Gingerbread days, they were like 10mb or less...now they're hovering at 100mb if not more.

Hi everybody,
OP UPDATED :
I just wanted to share these beautifull Inverted Black and Blue Apps. I'm only a messenger here, and had the kind authorisation and support of NCANDIANO to post these here for everybody. Please thank him, and most important, go show your love on ROMDROIDHACKS Forum, which is really great !
I didn't made these, so I'll take no credits. Please thank NCandiano, and ROMDROIDHACKS :
Original Thread here : http://romdroidhacks.com/forums/index.php?/topic/15-twistedx-theme/
The amazing TWISTED(X) Theme, made by NCANDIANO, will only work with KILLROMS , but as he's a real Gentleman, he made separate inverted apps only package, for us to use with all other Roms (should work on all J.B ROMS.)
What you'll find (Quoted from Twisted(X) Thread) :
Inverted (Black and Blue) GApps & Extras:
TwistedAppsOnly: http://db.tt/DX8nht1F (Contains for your pleasure: Updated Contacts, Calendar, Gmail, MMS, and Keyboard, Google Now, Email, Calculator, Google Talk, Phonesky(market))(This pack can be used with any 4.1.1 Roms. Google Now may have to be installed seperately, however.)
Flashable App-Zips: For your convenience. In the event you'd like to sample one or two flavors, this is the menu. Have at it.
Gmail: http://db.tt/1veBVDpY
Calendar: http://db.tt/nOxUy7b4
Contacts: http://db.tt/ezCjuaxC
MMS: http://db.tt/dXKhhsf2 (This is the Mms from KillRom, with QuickText)
Keyboard: http://db.tt/VbXsfbbI
GoogleNow: http://db.tt/jDLqcwM0 (You need to be on the updated Google Search from the market for this to work. See disclaimer above regarding if it doesn't take on the first flash!)
GoogleTalk: http://db.tt/waeB0yuJ
Email: http://db.tt/rJ4R5xbd
Calculator: http://db.tt/sYd5V5o6
Market(Phonesky): http://db.tt/H2T9fhVz
FOR BETTER AND NICER AND BIGGER SCREENSHOTS, WELL GO TO : http://romdroidhacks.com/forums/index.php?/topic/15-twistedx-theme/
I particularly advise using these apps with the wonderful RASBEANJELLY ROM, which is already all Black and Blue : http://fitsnugly.euroskank.com/?rom=rasbeanjelly&device=maguro
OR of course using the Original Theme with KILLROMS : http://romdroidhacks.com/forums/
Instructions for flashable zip : wipe cache and dalvik, flash and reboot.
If you want to revert to stock apps...then you'll have to flash again your Rom after having performed a cache and dalvik wipe.
Usual Disclamer : I'm not responsible for the damages that these could eventually cause to you phone. I suppose you're grown-up people, so you don't need me to hold your hand...blah, blah,.......BUT these apps should not harm your phone if you follow instructions...
Yay... Looking good.
Thanks for sharing.
Would it be possible for me to edit the text (e.g in Gmail) to white?

Has anyone managed to install the quicksearch inverted app? I tried both installing it as a normal apk file and moving it to system/app/ after removing velvet.apk (which should be the normal app) but in the first case I get an error message saying it's not a valid apk file and in the second case it doesn't pop up anywhere in my installed apps list after rebooting the device. Thank you.

That's strange....
Try this one and report ; you don't need to delete first the old one, just put the new one in system/app folder, it will override it, and the phone will reboot.

Oh, that's must be why then. I had moved out of the /system/app folder the original velvet.apk in my attempts. Now even if I move it back to the app folder, the stock google search app won't appear in the apps list no matter what. I guess I have to flash gapps again and then follow your procedure.

Yes, i think deleting first the file must "disturb" the system somehow...
Try with the Quicksearchbox in OP, and if it doesn't work, then try the Velvet one.
Instead of deleting or moving the original files. Just rename them. Then it's easy to undo the changes.
Remember to check that permissions are set.

You are right, I should've just renamed it. That was my bad, I thought that following the rootzwiki inverted gmail client installation procedure would work with those apk as well (mount /system for W permissions as root, delete /system/app/gmail.apk and then install the custom gmail.apk as a normal apk file).
For the record's sake, I've tried flashing latest gapps but I couldn't manage to make google search pop again. Maybe I should just do a clean flash of the rom again and try with the correct procedure.
What's strange is that i'm using too Rasjellybean 9th Aug , and i installed this without any issue.
So volapyk is right , this could be a permission problem.
Vaalen , have you tried the velvet apk too ?
And before reflashing default gapps , have you wipe cache and dalvik ?
Flashable Zips- Black Velvet Forthcoming
I added the apks into flashable zips. They're generic zip flashers they'll work in any recovery. Just wipe cache/dalvik and flash. It's not always just the name with the QSB apk, so I'm going to put together a Velvet.apk when I get home later, in the meantime these should make for easier installs for those who don't want to be messing around in the system/app folder. I'm PMing you the links because XDA won't let me link (not enough posts,) If you would update the OP I'd appreciate it.
**Black and blue UI, Framework, and Inverted Notifications Shade are only supported at the HIVE for Axiom ROMs at the moment.
Enjoy your JellyBean!
OP is updated with your flashable zip NCandiano, again a huge thank to you. As i said i just wanted to use these apps on other roms, and pulled these from your beautiful PZ Theme, and with your permission posted here.
But i didn't think you'd come and offer us even better ! That's great mate ! You deserve your own thread for your own work buddy ! I'm just a user who appreciate and share your work.
Flashed MMS apk and gmail apk. MMS apk works great except when you click a thread on the main screen the area you click doesn't highlight. Is this how it should be? Also gmail apk only screen that is dark is the main home screen. When you click to read an email it is white. Normal as well? Thanks!

The first, most obvious difference is it's size
The second and main dinference is it doesn't contain apps, that can be installed via play market. There is everything needed for calendar, contacts and app sync, that's it

First things first. The original gapps package didn't work as u didn't mount system before flashing. My package won't too, so please be sure to mount system!
As I can see from your message, you couldn't flash gapps, so I suppose your system is clear. You can flash this right now. In case you have any issues reflash the rom and flash this package again

WOOHOO
THANKS mate nice job!
This is an automatic updating app for Paranoid Android.
CM has CM Updater, so why we don't have a PA Updater? Now we do! :victory:
It does even more,
it will automatically flash the latest Gapps, restore your previous kernel and activate your Paranoid Android Preferences. It also has an option to view a simple changelog.
It's SHOULD support mako, maguro, grouper, i9300, manta, n7100, tilapia, toro and toroplus. But only mako, grouper and maguro are confirmed working.
Support for other devices will be added if theres a demand for it
It's my first ever use of java, so don't expect too much
If you find any bugs please post them here and try to attach a logcat if possible.
So the big question is: Who need this crap? These are just a few button presses more!
Yes, you are perfectly right, but they are still some extra button presses and wasted lifetime for flashaholics
I hope there are a few more lazy asses out there, just like me.
This app was mainly inspired by forum posts on the PA thread, the always returning question about if gapps need to be flashed and why PA prefs aren't automatically restored
Also someone asked in francos thread something like if its possible to protect a kernel from beeing overwritten of the ROM bundled kernel, thanks for the laugh and this function goes to you
I think that some questions will come up for sure, so lets answer them now:
Q:Why do you display goo's download page? You could have made it in the background, I HATE ADS!!!!
A:I know, thats what i first did, but well, hosting is expensive. Also the fact that they open their JSON feed for anyone shows that these people are made of pure awesomeness
Q:You are creating a flashable kernel zip, wouldn't it be easier to simply remove the boot image from the ROM zip?
A:Yes, that would be easier, but to do that i have to temporarily extract the zip and then repack it, even on our beast this takes ages. This way is much faster
Q:Which recoveries are supported?
A:Any OpenRecoveryScript compatible recovery is supported. I tried it with latest TWRP.
Now stop reading and try it out
Please tell me what you think about it
seriously, make that holo and we'll use it officially.

#HOLO we believe in

Straight from Moles mouth Matze5800 - make it happen, official in all PA Roms
One quick question - does this use incremental updates, or simply downloads the entire large .ZIP?
I assume it downloads the whole ROM, hopefully it doesn't re-download GAPPS each time too. I'll definitely try this out and if PA team adopt it as official that would be cool.

take a look at carbon from koush. if you can make it look as clean as that i'd be happy to go with it.
still, very nice work of course! (-:

Wow, i was just havin a little nap with my gf, am I awake already?
thanks a lot i wasn't even thinking that anybody would use this, but then a wild moles appears and tells me that he wanna use it officially
Yeah, actually function was the priority in this, please give me a bit time to improve the UI, add unviersal support for all pa devices and clean up the code which looks like complete garbage right now. I just tried it with dark holo looks much much cleaner already without any other changes
It'd be great to see this little app beeing a part of PA
I assume it downloads the whole ROM, hopefully it doesn't re-download GAPPS each time too. I'll definitely try this out and if PA team adopt it as official that would be cool.

Yes it will download the whole zip, I didn't even think of something like incremental updates.
To be honest i have never used CMUpdater, I just know that it exists
So how does it work? Do you need to follow every nightly to use incremental updates or can you do that from any installed nightly version?
And no, it won't re-download GAPPS, this will only happen when newer ones are out
Soory for been noob, just don't wanna do the wrong thing, after download and rebooting into recovery, with which option in recovery do I make an update from PA folder?
Im using cmr.

Well, i have no idea what cmr is
Either you are out of space on your sdcard or that cmr thing doesn't support OpenRecoveryScript.
You can do it manually, navigate to pa_updater folder on your sdcard and flash the zips.
EDIT: Wait, i think you mean cwm, you will have to do it manually as it doesn't support OpenRecoveryScript or simply install twrp

I don't know about CM Updater or incremental updates other than what I hear others say. It somehow works like an OTA from Google, just updating what's new AFAIK. Great to hear that it doesn't download GAPPS everytime; gonna try this out for sure. Looking forward to updates and official integration with PA.
Yes, yes, cwm, sorry for misspell

Hi Matze, when I said CMUpdater, I actually got confused with CyanDelta Updater:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cyandelta&hl=en
This is an amazing App that allows you to not have to re-download the entire Cyanongen Mod .ZIP each night, JUST the changes made within the .ZIP. To answer your question, you don't have to install them one by one, it will download ALL changes to bring you up-to-date.
Sorry for the confusion - I hope something like this could be done . I'm not sure how it checks the contents/changes, or even if its possible while being hosted by Goo.
