Has somebody installed sucessfully a recovery (cwm or twrp) on the new update?
I'm running cwm right now with a locked bootloader. Everything's fine so far
I don't like messing up with dual recoveries yet, so I'm sticking with cwm
Here's the thread where I found the recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251093
Press thanks if I helped

Hi folks,
As the title says, I want to change from CWM to EXT4 recovery for future use (mainly for ICS 4.x and ICS 4.x MIUI)
Can someone guide me how to get rid of the CWM recovery?
I only have the recovery flashed so I'm not using CWM ROM manager.
All help is appreciated.
Cheers,
R.
Go to 4ext.net. download recovery updater app. Install it then use it to install 4ext recovery. You should try the touch version is pretty sweet
Thanks,
So it will overwrite CWM?
And do I need to install recovery updater first and recovery touch on top of it, or will touch be installed through the main app?
EDIT: Well I answered my own questions .. .. It went pretty smooth, so thanks again!!
Got the same issue!
Unlocked my bootloader fallowing HTCdev.
My device is still S-ON. Currently using CWM to flash ROMs and fastboot to flash boot.img.
Is there anything to take care about when switching to 4EXT in my situation?
Thanks.
I've been struggling with this for a few days and thought it was about time I just broke down and asked.
What I'm trying to do is install the CM9 ROM on the my Telus model SGH-T989D.
I've been using CWM 5.0.2.6 as my recovery tool. I followed the instructions on the CM9 Page and formatted the various partitions and did a factory restore (all a few times) and then flashed the ROM. Everything seemed to go okay, however the phone would hang on the CM9 boot animation indefinitely.
I googled this issue and found that it was a problem with CWM not clearing cache properly. So I installed the latest CWM (6.0.1.5 non-touch) using ROM Manager and tried again. This time, the format cache function of CWM would hang.
After more research, I found that TWRP seems to work better. I downloaded gooManager but the Telus version is no supported by it. I did a manual install using dd (following instructions here) but now if I boot into recovery it hangs on the TeamWin splashscreen and the phone is unresponsive.
I think if I could find a decent recovery tool, I would be good to go so, in summary, can someone recommend a good recovery tool to use, or a version of CWM that will work for what I need it for, or a fix for the TWRP?
Thanks!

there are only two choices of recovery and my choice is TWRP and I am quite sure if you went into the TWRP thread you will find someone with the same issue as yourself. Also no need to flash from the app when there are zip versions readily available in the TWRP thread.
I do not own the Telus version but I think asking in TWRP would be your best bet. Also what version did you try and install from goo manager app.
Also remember you are not the first person with this issue search search search again...

there were more but I figured these were enough to start,,,, PM me if you still need assistance, I used 5.0.2.7 with scripts for CM9 but that was before I gave touch recovery a shot
Thanks, that helped somewhat... I was able to get TWRP 2.2 installed using cwm but CM9 still hangs on the boot screen. I guess I didn't wipe all the sectors I was supposed to? Or maybe I should try the TDJ wipe.
For anyone interested here's what I did to get it all working:
Use Odin to install CWM
Use CWM recovery to install TWRP-2.2.0-hercules.zip
Use TWRP to flash Darkside Super Wipe and then flash custom rom
With this method I was able to get CM9 running on the Telus S2X
How about to get a jelly bean ROM to work.I flashed the new 2.3.1.1 ver. Of twrp but still can't get a jb rom to work..I keep getting boot loops..now ics roms flash flawlessly.. What could it be

Hi everyone,
I just got my G Pro a couple days ago. I've been trying to read up as much as I can on the phone. I bought the phone used. It's on the V10k firmware (value pack or whatever they call it) and it was rooted, but I never did check to see if it had a custom recovery installed. Now, I installed FreeGee from the Play Store and had it flash TWRP 2.6.1. Installed successfully. But, when I reboot the phone, and I push a button to enter recovery mode, it takes me to CWM 6.0.2.8 by 985hPaKick v1. To top it off, if I "reboot recovery" from within CWM, or if I use "adb reboot recovery," it'll take me to TWRP. Anybody have a clue what's happening, or is this normal and I'm just not hip to it yet? I would've figured that if CWM was on here originally and I didn't know it, flashing TWRP would've just overwritten CWM. I'd like to be able to flash custom ROMs and such but I've never had this occur to me with an Android before, and I'm not trying to brick this thing. Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Im new to the LG world also. I dont know how this happened but if you flash back to stock via LG flash tool then reroot. You can Freegee a recovery over the stock one just reflashed. When I flashed the TWRP recovery the touch screen was dead(when in recovery mode) so I reflahed CWM over it with Freegee and it worked. Hope this helps
Thanks bud, I'll give it a try.
(I've been flashing quite a lot ... but unfamiliar with this device)
A friend asks me to help to move from with his Stock v2.3.6 to a customed 4.3 (since 4.4.x isn't 100% yet...).
So I got a Recovery on it and flashed latest superSU1.86 (is it compatible ???) to get root.
Afterward I can't flash some 4.3 ROMs (CM10.2, Slimbean4.3), all "aborted" in many recoveries (CWM 6.0.4.4, 6.0.3.7 & TWRP 2.6.3.0, 2.6.1.0).
I did all the wipes/factory-reset/systems/data ... Finally I just restore the Stock-backup so he can still use the phone for now.
At least, it's still rooted with a TWRP on it.
What did I do wrong ?
Thanks.
Update: flashed stock 4.1.2 then went to Slim4.3 without issue with TWRP 2.6.1.0
Hi! I have encountered a problem, and really hope someone can help me!
Two days ago i flashed Omnirom Nightly on my n7105 to get Android 4.4. I was running cmw recovery but couldnt get the ota updates to work, so i was trying to flash open recovery instead. I used an apk that was supposed to install a script.
When i rebootet my phone, all i could get was the Note 2 boot image. It wont boot into recovery mode, or the rom. I am however able to boot into download mode.
Custom Binary download: Yes (4 counts).
Current binary: Custom
System Status: Custom.
How should i proceed? I've already tried to reflash cwm recovery, which did work, but didnt solve the problem. I am currently downloading stock firmware, but the file is 1.2 GB so it will take i while. Figured i should ask here in the meanwhile.
I'm not an expert at Android at all, im just a guy enjoying having custom roms and playing around a little. I do know that there are a lot of very talented people in this forum, and i really hope someone can help me find a solution. I've been googling for hours, but cant find anything that seems to work for me / or i dont fully understand and wont risk try before someone approves it.
Thank you, Vetle
EDIT: Is it correct that i cant flash any custom rom trough Odin? Or could i just flash omnirom again trough Odin?
If i manage to flash the stock rom and the bootloop goes away, will everything go back to normal, so i can flash cmw again and then a custom rom again?
No custom rom can be flashed through odin, as most of them are zip cwm/twrp base.
When u can only go to download mode, an official firmware only can help u through odin.

Thanks for the answer!
Yup, i have flashed a stock rom now and i got the stock recovery. Everything was working fine.
Then i proceeded to do a factory reset in the stock recovery and flashed cwm trough Odin. When it was done, it wouldnt let me into recovery again! I can still boot up the phone tough.
I've also tried Open recovery. CWM via Rom manager. Open Recovery trough Goo Manager... Still cant get recovery to work, the stock rom works tough.
Any ideas?
Okay, i tried to flash the stock rom again and installed Rom Manger.
It still showes TWRP and CWM under installed recovery and i guess these its these two who makes the problem.
My plan now is to figure out how to completely remove them. I've never done anything related to adb before, so i hope it possible to remove them in another way?
This is so weird. Somehow i managed to install CWM Touch via Rom Manager and it booted. When i choose reboot /pull battery it will only boot straight into CWM again. I tried to flash TWRP via Odin, wich sucseeds, but then it reboots into CWM again!
I am soo lost its almost funny!
EDIT: Since i could get into cwm now, i tried to flash omnirom, but it aborts and all i get is status 7...?
EDIT2: Latest now is that i suddenly managed to install TWRP via Odin, but i still cant install the latest omnirom, all it says is "updating partition details".

I had recovery problems in the last few days also.
Installed DN3 rom using philz recovery, because its capable of prepare the phone to a new rom in a easy way.
It all went fine until first reboot.
I had a recovery boot loop. All I could see were some buttons and then reboot again.
Like you I had download access and flashed philz with Odin, but no luck.
Installed twrp via Odin and all was fine, and flashed philz new version.
Then I had to flash a new kernel (to be able to access wifi) and it all started again. Now I'm back on twrp.
Let's see what happens on my next flash.
My suggestion is to flash the recovery, and if that's OK flash the rom and use it
Next time you need recovery get Odin to help, but not all the way from an original rom. Just the custom recovery.
But if you want to get rid of your strange recovery configuration, and you are not already on new 4.3 recovery(which in your case could explain some of the problems you had) , with knox, install an older original rom, 4.1, and make all the steps, root it, install a custom recovery, and from there the room you want.
Reading your path sorting this problem, that was what would do next
Best regards
