So I wanted to root my phone. I followed the instructions etc on galaxynote2root.com and everything went well. Then a few minutes later my phone went to the downloading do not turn off target page by itself. I took the battery out and tried to reboot. Now all i get is a page that can only be described as snow. I tried to use odin to unroot the phone and I get no PIT partition.
Someone please help!?
You need to get back into download mode and reinstall fresh or a backup. If you can't do that chances are you'll have to send it in somewhere to be reflashed.

i can get into download mode. i tried using odin with the stock rom from samsung and thats when i get 'there is not PIT partition'
How did u root your note 2? i guess you have missed an important step check again

so I took it to a samsung service centre today. They put it in download mode and saw 'system status custom'. They said they will not touch it and will send it back to samsung but it will cost me £120 as the warranty is voided. I'm sure I have read on here that even unrooted phones can say custom and not official, is this right?

No. If you failed rooting your phone, then your warranty is void. You can try to use triangle away, so it will change your counter to 0. But I'm not sure if in that case it's going to change your status to "not touched".
Things you can try:
1.Get stock rom. (Look in Dr.Ketans topic)
2.Flash it
3.If you need .pit file. Use google to find it.(Remember that you have to get the right version!)
4.If your phone works fine.
5.Enjoy!
No! You're in the EU, presumably, so you have in fact not automatically voided warranty.
I don't have a link here right now, but Google and search these forums for info about the EU directive that you can take to the service center. There is a thread about it in the note 2 forums. Basically, they have to prove that rooting is the direct cause for malfunction, which is practically impossible, to have your warranty voided.
Having said that, I'm not exactly sure on your case, seeing how you lost Pit, they might be able to see that and prove that your rooting and tinkering was the cause, but I doubt it.

I got my note 2 (I317) from ATT days ago and dropped it while it's naked from my pocket. Now the screen and the corners looks really not nice.
I have flashed it with custom ROM cause it does not support any SMS other than English and Spanish, not even Korean !
I know ATT won't honer the warranty for the 30 days period once they found that and m really regret that I refused to get an insurance for such a device.
I have the stock recovery but triangle away cannot set flash counter to 1 as the ROM is not stock.
Anyone could help me out I will honer rewards

Did I make myself ? Hope you could help me.
Sounds like you will need a stock Odin Image.
You can try flashing stock rooted odex rom but I am not so sure that will help.
IM sure someone will get a odin tar soon. Why do you want to send it back to AT&T if you damaged it?
They wont take it back with physical damage will they?

I assume it's within the 30 days period and they will at let me return it (damages are not that obvious) for a $35 restocking fee. They case I bought there is not really helping again any damage and the flip cover is silly in my onion (hard to use with one hand)
I just hope someone would be making the tar within the next 25 days.
Can I try flashinging your stock ROM with the Model.zip I have using the CWM recovery ?

So if flash counter is set to 1 that means you can still qualify for warrenty repair?

No you cannot. Even if they helped you replace for the first one, they will found it and void your warranty on their end. Unless you gave them a real brick so they cannot response before force it into download mode.
Even if you flash your device (any device from ATT) a Samsung Stock ROM will void the warranty. Chainfire's triangle away can only set the counter to 0 and reset the statue to Official when you have the stock recovery and stock ROM. Meaning you can have your warranty back if you stay on the stock ROM.
I'm buying a galaxy S3 from someone for AT&T is there anything I should know or look for before making the purchase? Can I tell if its rooted or anything that can cause damage to the phone? I know with Sprint that the WIMAX keys could be lost the phone would work fine just no WIMAX. All help appreciated I am meeting him at a AT&T store.
There is no way to tell if it's rooted if he/she used triangle away restore the flash counter. I would make sure AT&T knows it was sold to me so they can't report it stolen so it will not be blacklisted on there systems and put in your AT&T sim and make a call first. You can check and make sure the IMEI is still intact via settings-about phone section other tan that it's all about luck. Make sure you get a good contact number I case something goes wrong with phone because I'm sure your warranty goes out the door with the resale.
Ok thanks I am going to meet him at the store and activate the phone make sure it works and makes call etc... before I pay the guy.
You can check if custom roms have been installed ( and your warranty is voided ) by turning it off pressing power+vol. down+ home, then press vol. up and it will take you to odin,
In there it says if its EVER been custom romed, this is how Samsung checks if your under warranty or not.
I wouldnt worry about root , when you get the phone run an emergency restore from KIES software to erase any traces of the owner's data. you could be getting key logged and other nasty stuff if you dont.
The above user suggestion is also good to check if the phone is blacklisted or not , considering its easy to swap SIMS on this device.

Hi,
Just explaining. EFS is kind of a folder that contains the IMEI number and other MAC addresses of WIFI or Bluetooth. What happened when you rooted and flashed a ROM is that the EFS folder has been modified. There are many reasons why this happens. So, changing a new SIM won't work. You would have to fill the IMEI number and the other MAC addresses to make phones calls and etc.,
Regarding whether to leave the phone with root or not, It depends on you whether you can make up a convincing story to avoid charges for re-instating the IMEI number back by Samsung.
You can change it to Stock if you want to, but Verizon can easily find out that you had rooted it since IMEI number won't be wiped by any other way..

I'm taking my phone up to verizon tommorow... to see if they can provide me with what i need to do.... and if they find out it was rooted will they not help me at all and just tell me to pay full price for a new phone (keep in mind the galaxy note 2 is $800 still) also i have total full coverage... + that convincing story... and its my first phone with verizon aka first problem... please tell me they will fix it without charging me....
Have you flashed a N7100 rom on a N7105 or vice versa as that will make baseband unknown and can be fixed.

Hi,
The first mistake you have done is that your phone model is not N7100. It is different for Verizon. That's the reason your IMEI number got screwed up when you flashed a rom of N7100.
The Fail in Odin is not a big deal as it might have been because there could have been two usb connections made or as you said changing usb ports.
Please verify whether the ROM supports your Verizon model before flashing.
Also, There will be still a counter and status that would indicate that you've rooted before If you want to reset these counters then search in the forum and you'll be able to find out.

You make out like resetting the counters is easy or something. It isn't and it's reasonable price for the app.
I suggest you go to the Verizon Note II forum next time unless you want to break your phone again.

I had similar problem. May be you haven't deleted it. The #4 comment is kinda right. By mistake I wiped my internal storage without backup or without writing down the baseband and build numbers. I had to flash numerous stock roms until I was able to make phone calls and receive msgs. Also on stock roms that were not for my phone the imei # was different from the one on the box, starting with 0049 or something.

When you open up ODIN, make sure you "Run as Administrator" and the Sammy usb drivers are installed, above PDA, theres a box PIT.. click the box and browse to the PIT file on your PC and select it.. it appears in the box next to PIT button, then put a tick in the box Re-Partition, put the ROM in PDA then click Start and off you go.
So far as I know, you only use ODiN for stock roms, plus,. Im pretty sure Stock Roms are All in one PDA file now.
Anyway, hope that helps
Good Luck
Sorry but seems sds.

By the way, which ROM you were using before this has happened?
As you do not have Custom Binary counter set, I hope you can claim the warranty. So just go ahead in claiming warranty,

The phones with SDS issue will have blank in Product code field as well as the Binary status will be custom.. You shouldn't have any problem in claiming warranty if you have it's bill/invoice/warranty card...
By the way, din't you check the phone before buying? You said that it was like that while buying.. You should have returned it to the previous owner itself.. Incase you do not get warranty, this will cost you huge money to repair as the motherboard replacement is the only solution... Instead of that, its better you put some more money and buy new.

First off all that blank in product code problem i had it, and i buy the phone on the web in second hand, i try to reach the guy who sell me the phone and as it was from expect he didnt had the bill/invoice/warranty card, correct me if im wrong or being dumb, but if they released the phone only in 2012, September, even i buy it on the first day, didn´t past 2 years yet,
i took the phone to they, and they make a couple of questions like if i rooted the phone, i asked them what is rooting (ahahha), and they said, that will give it a see and then call me,
About the possibility of buy a new one, that only cost me 130 pounds, about 154 euros, so it was a nice deal, if they charge me more that 50 euros, wich i think they will i will buy a Jtag Riff box and repair emmc myself, or buy the chip here and solder him myself at home, but if that happens i will spread everywhere that samsung sucks and show my indignation and anger about them.

What repair shop is that ? Is it Samsung official service center ?
Considering the number of times your phone put you in trouble,
I suspect something wrong with your PC. Because all of us have at
some point messed up their phones and we just flash the sammobile
firmware to restore our devices to full functionality.
But that is not the case with your phone.
Speaking of company rom, i think it has the 4 file firmware.
Meaning it has PDA file (with system), BOOT(kernel),
Bootloader,BL and CSC files. Maybe he is using a pit file that works with
kitkat bootloaders.

We do not yet have a 4 file kitkat firmware. We also do not have a pit file that works with knox 2 bootloader.
You can ask the repair shop guy for the firmware. Maybe he will give those files for some price.
Take some pictures of your boot loader and some screen shots of your "about phone" from main settings. Also have a look at this app. Can give you some very detailed info about what's running on your phone currently https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.phoneinfo

Have you tried using kies again? Just wondering if your phone will connect thru that and maybe you could update your software thru this. ...and then maybe your could try changing firmware with Odin afterwards? ? Only an idea. I'm not an expert just a phone user like yourself.
I'm wondering if the shop you went to used something like a jtag which can restore phones directly thru chips instead of the normal Odin way we use. I'm wondering how the shop owner got his hands on a "company" rom. ...
A final solution maybe to take your phone to Samsung themselves to flash it back to its original state.
....that or sell the phone and buy another one to replace it. Might work out cheaper than sending it to Samsung because I have a feeling your not under warranty?
