Hi guys I have some problem. In recovery I did formated system (by mistake) and micro SD card. Then rebooted and HTC doesn't start up :/ I just have a logo htc quietly brilliant and there's nothing I can do... can not even turn phone off. Any advices how can I bring my HOV back to life? Hope there's a chance that it still will be working...
Yeah, just flash a Rom. Connect the phone to pc and open cmd (the same way when you flash a kernel) and type adb reboot recovery. It will reboot to recovery, then you just flash a rom!

Mmmmmm this happens when the adb driver isn't correctly installed. Holding vol down + power doesn't take you to boot loader?

Ok so, hold the power button for 10 seconds (or more), your phone will turn off. When it turns off, hold vol down, then hold power for some seconds (keep holding vol down), then release power but keep holding vol down until it gets in fastboot mode

ooo well mates! Thanks a lot I did hold the power button for about 90 sec and indeed it works. Just need to flash a rom. Thanks 1 more time!!
90 secs? Wow mine takes 10 seconds, maybe your power button is dying too now flash a rom, then reboot in fastboot and flash the kernel! And I suggest you mess a little with adb drivers because this phone power button is pretty fragile so its not too good holding it so much, adb is much quicker and button saver
yeee my power button isn't in a good condition thanks for an advice about adb. The most important the problem was solved and I have my HOV back

i had a previous One X Dead thread here, and the help was really appreciated by me. now, a little sum up, i have a "working" one x, i'm sure coz it boots to sense and the boot animation sense plays, the capacitive buttons can be touched, but, the screen is always off, and when it does turn on, the white hTC screen is perfect, boot animation is perfect, on the lookscreen perfect, but, as soon as i touch the screen, the screen gets all messed up....turning the screen off then on, it doesn't turn on anymore.
i'm trying to get into boot loader, as i'm sure the screen will be okay there, but, fast boot is turned on, and can't turn that off and the screen is messed, and doesn't respond to touch.
any other way to turn it off completely without having to open it and take battery off the main board then putting it back on?
please guys, i need suggestions. the phone is working, it seems a software issue..
Try this:
hold the power button down. Have a stopwatch ready and after exactly 10 seconds, press volume down key and keep holding (powerdown+voldown) both keys. You should be thrown into bootloader shortly.

amazing man, i will try that! i did keep pressing the power button, the buttons light turn on then off, on then off, and after that it boots up again!
thank you! will try that now!
EDIT: it's not working, i tried five times, nothing happens, if i take both fingers off, it will vibrate and fastboot again...
i'm pretty sure it's because of the damn fastboot, as the same case is on sensation...
Hmm ok, lemme do it again but without looking at display (not easy to not look at the pretty huge thing)..
Edit: Ok I got it now. Hold the power button for about 9-10 seconds. You'll see the 3 keys flashing. When they start flashing, press and hold vol.down and LET GO of power key after the keys stop flashing (power key should kept down for 9-10 sec, no more). Keep pressing vol.down till you are in bootloader. Also, there is no vibration.
(I have fastboot disabled, but i think this is same for both).

i didn't work bro, but thank you so much for your help. it's the fastboot, i can tell. no way to bypass that, only by a battery removal.

This is what I always do to get to bootloader.
Press power until the keys flashing and screen is off, hold volume down (without pressing power button) and plug in the usb cable connected to pc. It should go to hboot, press power once to get to fastboot mode (bootloader). It never fail for me, hopefully it helps.

Press and hold power button. Immediately press and hold volume down (you might feel a vibrate as it goes into vibrate mode) Keep BOTH buttons pressed until it boots into bootloader. Just tried with fastboot ticked and definately works.

i did it exactly, after that it just does nothing, as soon as i take both fingers off the power button and volume down, it will boot back normally...i hear the boot sound and a small vibrate nudge, means it booted to lockscreen already...
okay, update: i was able to make guess work and tick USB debugging and untick fastboot!
i took hours!
thanks for those who cared and helped
Another way is try power+volumeup until it restarts then try the usual method for booting in bootloader (power+wolumedown)
if you had debug usb activated you can enter in adb
Code:
adb reboot bootloader

Steps to get into Fastboot
Hi,
Try following the steps below:
1. Turn your phone OFF
2. Turn your phone ON in bootloader mode by holding the power and vol down buttons at the same time, your phone will start in HBOOT mode. It will be displayed somewhere in the middle of the text.
3. Use the volume keys to move up and down the list, and select Fastboot, then press the power key. Now your phone will come in FASTBOOT mode.
Let me know if I helped by clicking Thanks
Cheers but it was 'safe mode' that I wanted, the first reply did the trick. Unfortunately I can't cure the g-sensor problem.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
did you try just re calibrating the g sensor?
If you have adb enabled you could also try to do with command "adb reboot-bootloader" but first check "adb devices" to be sure whether you are plugged in or unplugged!
He doesn't want to get into bootloader . He said he is trying to get into safe mode. Presumably to discount that it was a rogue app causing his fault. But as not its probably a hardware failure.

Ohh sorry.. my fault.
I was also having troubles to get into safe mode, everyone said that restart your phone and hold volume down when you see htc logo.
That didnt work for me dont know why. Im gonna mention how i did that.
1) Hold down power bottun until your phone get restarted.
2) Press and hold volume up key right after you see first htc logo screen.
3) You're now on Safe Mode.
To get out of safe mode simply restart your phone.
Another quick method to get into Safe Mode:
Press and hold power button until you see power off menu, press and hold "power off" it will popup a window asking if you want to restart into safe mode, tap restart.

Hello XDA experts,
I own a HTC Desire HD with ?CM 10? flashed on. Now suddenly the phone cant get over the boot screen (it worked in the past). It shows the loading screen and nothing happens. The CM loading screen spin all the time. I have a recovery thing installed, over that I flashed all kind of roms in the past. My problem is, I cant access this menu after the volume up and down buttons are broken now. Is it possible to get into this recovery menu in another way. May attache the device to my Mac and load something by the terminal?

I have a problem to make phone to factory reset i download mode... My kid make a password on phone and forget it
Whe I click vol down and power buttons phone start i download mode... only options I have on menu is system info, show barcode, reboot to bootloader, reboot to download mode, reboot, power down...
Why I dont have factory reset option??
Select reboot to bootloader, then select recovery, then give it a couple seconds, then press the power button and tap the volume up button and release both. Sorry for the excessive use of the word 'then'
Ok... I do This... And I have a Red Triangle ? Nothing else... 40sec-1min and phone restart automaticly...
When you are at the screen with the red triangle, press and hold the power button and while holding down the power button, press and release the volume up button.

Same problem
Was your phone unlocked after doing the hard reset? I tried to do the same - like you, I do not see a factory reset option when I enter recovery mode. My phone reboots but remains locked. I cannot remember my password anymore. What would you suggest?
I have the same issue. Phone only boots into this mode (regardless of what buttons i press) shown in the image attached. It doesn't let me choose anything at all, and reboots after a while. How to change the bootup mode ?

Dears,
Today after I wiped my data from TWRP I do restart my device (Tab S 10.5 T800 Lollipop Rooted) & I'm now stuck on Samsung Logo or Battery Logo (if I plug it with my computer).
Now how can I download a new firmware (through PC or External SD card), although I can't open download mode or recovery mode through (Volume Down+Home+Power)?
Thnx n Adv.
Of course you can enter download mode or recovery mode, you just need to perform the correct steps.
Whether the tablet is off or stuck on boot screen: Hold POWER + VOL DOWN + POWER until download mode appears.
Also if you only wiped Data then let it boot, it takes 10mins at least.

I do this step many times; It back to the same screen (Samsung logo).
I think I had wiped everything (Data+System).
I read in this forum that : POWER + VOL DOWN + POWER, only works if the tablet is off. Is that right?
& how do I recover my android system after I wiped everything with TWRP?

It doesn't matter what you wipe in twrp, you can wipe every partition and still boot to Download mode.
Honestly this is nothing but pilot error. Its all about timing and make sure you are firmly holding those buttons.
Boot the tablet up to the Samsung boot screen then hold POWER +VOL DOWN(not up!) + HOME until it restarts. Keep holding for about 5 secs afterwards and you should see download mode.

Simple: Unplug your device and let complete discharge the battery. Then you have a black screen, plug it into USB, and let it charge until at least 15%. Then press and hold together three buttons: Home+Volume Down+Power (better, in that order).

Agreed, best in that order and how I do it. Like I say 99% pilot error.
I have probably soft bricked this device in every way possible countless times (comes with the territory when building) and not once had an issue getting to download mode.
