HTC M9 No factory reset in download mode i need help - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a problem to make phone to factory reset i download mode... My kid make a password on phone and forget it
Whe I click vol down and power buttons phone start i download mode... only options I have on menu is system info, show barcode, reboot to bootloader, reboot to download mode, reboot, power down...
Why I dont have factory reset option??

Select reboot to bootloader, then select recovery, then give it a couple seconds, then press the power button and tap the volume up button and release both. Sorry for the excessive use of the word 'then'

Ok... I do This... And I have a Red Triangle ? Nothing else... 40sec-1min and phone restart automaticly...

When you are at the screen with the red triangle, press and hold the power button and while holding down the power button, press and release the volume up button.

I'm not good at explaining things so thanks for clarifying for him lol

Same problem
Was your phone unlocked after doing the hard reset? I tried to do the same - like you, I do not see a factory reset option when I enter recovery mode. My phone reboots but remains locked. I cannot remember my password anymore. What would you suggest?

I have the same issue. Phone only boots into this mode (regardless of what buttons i press) shown in the image attached. It doesn't let me choose anything at all, and reboots after a while. How to change the bootup mode ?
I had the same issue as OP

Here's another message that pops up after I keep the phone connected to the PC. I dont press any button or do anything, it just keeps on showing this screen for a few seconds then shuts down, on it's on.

Good luck!!

Thank you so much for this. What happened in the end was that i pressed all three buttons while being connected to the pc through a cable, and when it vibrates, i let go of the power button and it boots into bootloader mode. Thanks again for the tip !

Thanks Mate

Help please!!!!!!

do exactly as you are demonstrated . . . . it surely works, mine did . . .

What happens if you don't get a red triangle, or no options for factory reset... PHONE is still unlocked... I've tried every combination.. EITHER I'm really bad at button pushing.. I'VE done it over and over again.. Anyone? Phone was rooted, remains unlocked.. But can't find a way to get hard reset... I'm open for more button combos.. Lol..

htc 29S500 X9u MODEL does not show factory reset option

This worked. Thank you very much. There are many videos out there, all demonstrating the hard resetting of the factory data but they not emphasizing the last step i.e. " press and release the volume up button ", and this made the difference for me.
Thank you very much for the tip.

Any body knows how an alternative way to turn off the one X

i had a previous One X Dead thread here, and the help was really appreciated by me. now, a little sum up, i have a "working" one x, i'm sure coz it boots to sense and the boot animation sense plays, the capacitive buttons can be touched, but, the screen is always off, and when it does turn on, the white hTC screen is perfect, boot animation is perfect, on the lookscreen perfect, but, as soon as i touch the screen, the screen gets all messed up....turning the screen off then on, it doesn't turn on anymore.
i'm trying to get into boot loader, as i'm sure the screen will be okay there, but, fast boot is turned on, and can't turn that off and the screen is messed, and doesn't respond to touch.
any other way to turn it off completely without having to open it and take battery off the main board then putting it back on?
please guys, i need suggestions. the phone is working, it seems a software issue..
Try this:
hold the power button down. Have a stopwatch ready and after exactly 10 seconds, press volume down key and keep holding (powerdown+voldown) both keys. You should be thrown into bootloader shortly.

amazing man, i will try that! i did keep pressing the power button, the buttons light turn on then off, on then off, and after that it boots up again!
thank you! will try that now!
EDIT: it's not working, i tried five times, nothing happens, if i take both fingers off, it will vibrate and fastboot again...
i'm pretty sure it's because of the damn fastboot, as the same case is on sensation...
Hmm ok, lemme do it again but without looking at display (not easy to not look at the pretty huge thing)..
Edit: Ok I got it now. Hold the power button for about 9-10 seconds. You'll see the 3 keys flashing. When they start flashing, press and hold vol.down and LET GO of power key after the keys stop flashing (power key should kept down for 9-10 sec, no more). Keep pressing vol.down till you are in bootloader. Also, there is no vibration.
(I have fastboot disabled, but i think this is same for both).

i didn't work bro, but thank you so much for your help. it's the fastboot, i can tell. no way to bypass that, only by a battery removal.
thanks again
anyone has a different suggestion? ^^' i suck at taking apart a phone!!
I take it you have seen the Fastboot option under Power in the settings menu? Not sure if it's the same thing but just in case.....

This is what I always do to get to bootloader.
Press power until the keys flashing and screen is off, hold volume down (without pressing power button) and plug in the usb cable connected to pc. It should go to hboot, press power once to get to fastboot mode (bootloader). It never fail for me, hopefully it helps.

Arabology: Is your screen touch system working? Even if you dont see any picture? If so, hold down power key for about 5 sec and try to just "hit" the reboot/power off key on screen where it is supposed to be.

Press and hold power button. Immediately press and hold volume down (you might feel a vibrate as it goes into vibrate mode) Keep BOTH buttons pressed until it boots into bootloader. Just tried with fastboot ticked and definately works.
guys this will not work as i'm in fast boot! even if i press the turn off option on screen (btw, touch worked, because i pressed exact same place as in pic, and it turned off )....so....anybody can make me few pics, as to where to click in order to get to the fastboot option and untick it?...also, debugging? ^^' please? anyone?

i did it exactly, after that it just does nothing, as soon as i take both fingers off the power button and volume down, it will boot back normally...i hear the boot sound and a small vibrate nudge, means it booted to lockscreen already...
okay, update: i was able to make guess work and tick USB debugging and untick fastboot!
i took hours!
thanks for those who cared and helped
Another way is try power+volumeup until it restarts then try the usual method for booting in bootloader (power+wolumedown)
if you had debug usb activated you can enter in adb
Code:
adb reboot bootloader

Bypass custom OS warning to access recovery with broken volume buttons

Hello all, I've got a bit of a problem with my Galaxy S3 Canadian version. I am stuck in a bootloop and unable to go into recovery to factory reset to clear the issue. The reason behind this is because while I am able to boot into a warning telling me to press the volume up button to continue, I am unable to continue as the volume up button does not work/ (Oddly enough, the volume down button works to get into recovery with the power, volume down, and home button, but the volume down button does nothing on this screen while it is supposed to reboot.)
I have been able to install a custom recovery which supports touch, but I am unable to reach it. I have searched the forums and found a solution involving adb and fastboot, but I have tried this and both are unable to detect the device, presumably because samsung does not use adb or fastboot, the drivers are installed and all other things recognize the phone, including odin. I am able to reach download mode however, as I bought a jig a while back that has come in handy.
Thanks for your help!

The volume down, power, home is download mode. Recovery is volume up, home, power. Could you include pictures of your screen? Your other option is to replace the volume buttons.
Thanks for the heads up! I tried with volume up but the phone just gets to the screen saying "Samsung Galaxy SIII" and continuously reboots. Here's an image of the aforementioned screen:

Oh, alright, haha that's awkward. Do you know of any alternative ways to reach recovery without access to the main OS or the use of the up volume button? At this point, I've pretty much decided on selling this thing for parts on Craigslist. Thanks!

Ouch a soft brick. Damaged recovery maybe?
Try a hardware factory reset again if you can:
Hardware factory reset (Using power and vol buttons when you can't run it from within Android 4.4)
Take your phone and turn it off – just press power button and select “power off”.
Wait while your device is shutting down.
Then, press volume down button and power button together until the LG logo appears on the screen.
When the LG logo is displayed, let go of the power button, keep pressing the volume down key and then press once more the power button.
Once you do that, on your LG G3 the factory reset menu will be displayed.
Press power button in order to agree and wait while the hard reset is being completed.
If you can't do that do you have download mode at least? If download mode can run your not fully bricked. And you can run the KDZ flasher, flash the tot and dll files again.

LG G3 Unbrick/Unroot (set to Stock ROM) stuck on Status 2
I had the same issue (phone stuck on Status 2) during stock ROM update. This is what I did to get it to work :
Unplug battery.
After a couple of seconds, plugged battery.
Repeated step that makes phone go into download mode (Volume Key up pressed while plugging into computer USB).
Computer continued downloading everything and finally made it to Status 3 (update is complete).
Rebooted phone. Everything works OK!

Tab S Won't Boot or enter Recovery or Download mode ?!

Dears,
Today after I wiped my data from TWRP I do restart my device (Tab S 10.5 T800 Lollipop Rooted) & I'm now stuck on Samsung Logo or Battery Logo (if I plug it with my computer).
Now how can I download a new firmware (through PC or External SD card), although I can't open download mode or recovery mode through (Volume Down+Home+Power)?
Thnx n Adv.
Of course you can enter download mode or recovery mode, you just need to perform the correct steps.
Whether the tablet is off or stuck on boot screen: Hold POWER + VOL DOWN + POWER until download mode appears.
Also if you only wiped Data then let it boot, it takes 10mins at least.

I do this step many times; It back to the same screen (Samsung logo).
I think I had wiped everything (Data+System).
I read in this forum that : POWER + VOL DOWN + POWER, only works if the tablet is off. Is that right?
& how do I recover my android system after I wiped everything with TWRP?

It doesn't matter what you wipe in twrp, you can wipe every partition and still boot to Download mode.
Honestly this is nothing but pilot error. Its all about timing and make sure you are firmly holding those buttons.
Boot the tablet up to the Samsung boot screen then hold POWER +VOL DOWN(not up!) + HOME until it restarts. Keep holding for about 5 secs afterwards and you should see download mode.

Simple: Unplug your device and let complete discharge the battery. Then you have a black screen, plug it into USB, and let it charge until at least 15%. Then press and hold together three buttons: Home+Volume Down+Power (better, in that order).

Agreed, best in that order and how I do it. Like I say 99% pilot error.
I have probably soft bricked this device in every way possible countless times (comes with the territory when building) and not once had an issue getting to download mode.

1) Hard Reset = Hold Vol down and power
2) As soon as the screen goes black, press and both volume buttons and plug it into the usb (can take a few tries if they is an error somewhere)
3) This should get you to download mode
once in download mode download the A50 android 10 firmware from sammobile [ https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-a50/firmware/#SM-A505FN ] - be sure to change the model and network for your phone.
Now you are on stock android 10 [So many reasons to use this over pie - for twrp and magisk it has worked wonders]... Follow this guild: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-a50/how-to/guide-samsung-galaxy-a50-btc4-firmware-t4071817

Hey thx for the fast help.
I was tryed it for like 40 times and gave up to sleep a little. after that my Phone was dry agian. wenn i pluged in the dry phone to my pc while holding the vol buttons it finaly worked.
i was able to flash the phone with no problems back to a normal firmware but was still stuck in the same bootloop. but this time i was able to reach the menu to make a factory reset. now every thing works fine.
but i have an other problem now. Over night i opend my Phone and disconnectet the battery because i wasnt able to stop it. I accidentlly ripped a cable at the opening progress.
The phone still works fine but i want to know what i destroyed in case it was something important. i added a Image of a not broken one. i draw a smal red line at the point i broke it.
