An mhl adapter its a device you plug into your phones usb port that you plug into a tv then mirrors your phone screen. Here's a link on where to buy

I'm not sure if this EXACTLY answers your question, but my SGN2 can do wireless mirroring with my $120 Samsung WiFi BluRay player...
Also, I'd add that Samsung's BluRay players have one of the best/most intuitive DLNA interfaces. It's so easy to jump around movies on my computer vs other brands' interfaces I've tried.

[Q] Note II MHL-to-HDMI Help!!

I recently purchased an 11-pin MHL-to-HDMI cable to use with my Galaxy Note II and my Asus VN248H IPS monitor. When I plug in the USB end into the Samsung power adapter, the HDMI into the monitor's HDMI/MHL port, and the other end into my Note II, the Note II recognizes the cable with an "HDMI Cable connected" message but when I switch to the proper HDMI input on the monitor, the monitor only displays a "Out of Range" error message. Any ideas/helpful tips for how to get this cord working? Or do I just have a dud and should I buy another? Thanks in advance!
//Edit: My Note II is a GT-N7100 model and the TL: DR of this post is that my Note II detects my MHL cable but my monitor displays an "Out of Range" message instead of mirroring the screen. Help!
Bump! I don't like doing this but I'd really like a response or to know if anybody out there has had or is having similar issues with MHL! Anybody?

Maybe you can tell us more info...like:
-The Rom you are using.
-If you try on other TV.
-You try the same cable on other phone?
-Is the cable original from samsung?.
-Note 2 version.
I think this is importan....maybe this way people can help you. :good:

Thanks for the response! My phone is not rooted so I'm on the default Samsung ROM? (I'm a total noobie to all this so sorry if that doesn't answer the question at all!)
I have not yet tried on another TV/monitor, but my friend's Galaxy S3 had the same result. (Monitor displayed "Out of Range" message)
The cable is NOT an original from Samsung. So that raises big red flags I'm sure.
And my Note II is a GT-N7100 running Android version 4.1.2.
I'll post more details as I test more scenarios but in the meantime any help or experience would be very much appreciated!

Well...I think its the cable...if the s3 had the same result.....there is 2 option...the cable...or the tv....
You have to try in other tv....if that not solve the problem...its the cable...but if the other tv works....its your tv....
I hope its help.......

Thanks so much for the response and sorry for taking so long to reply again! I tried the cord out with my Galaxy Note 2 on a TV and it worked!! Even though the aspect ratio was off and the screen didn't fit completely on the TV, the cord was fine! This leads me to believe that it has something to do with my monitor, but I have no idea what! Could it be that my monitor doesn't support the refresh rate of the Galaxy phones or something? If anybody has any more advice or suggestions, that would be great because I'm completely stumped. Thanks!

It's been discussed in the DN3 thread in this forum... someone was having the same problem as yourself.. Just jump over there and read back a few pages in the thread...
Mine quirks no problem. Could be the connector. Test in another device to see if it's functioning correctly...

The MHL adaptor that works for other samsung galaxy phones won't work with the note 1 or 2. You have to use a small adaptor on the MHL adaptor to get the correct pins to match up.

On the one I have I don't need that additional adapter...
And it works great. But haven't used it lately because of my Chromecast.

You start this question under a false premise. Why do you think you cant root 4.4.2?????????
I'm using this app for a year now on my Note 2 (on 4.1,4.2, 4.4.2 ):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=polis.app.callrecorder&hl=de
works perfect and does not need root permissions. The volume of the other person is a little bit low in contrast to yours but thats okay
edit: oh i think i overread the post I thought because of the title ("[...] new Phone Rec") he searches a non-root callrecording app
To TheATHEiST,
You don't know me, but I am not too surprise that I started my question on a false premise.
To Androidwizzard,
Thanks for the link. I plan on rooting Sunday and will let you know how it works out.
I also asked this question on two other threads and I was told I couldn't do it. In this case I am glad I am very stubborn and didn't take no for an answer.
Thank you both,
Michael

Are you sure it's a ”mini" S4? Google search says it's a standard S4, sprint variant. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-sprint
