My note has stock rom but is rooted. Is there any way to clear the cache or something to help speed up the phones responsiveness? When I touch an app icon it highlights for almost a full second before the app opens. That happens with any app on my phone. When I am done using my Dolphin Browser I usually close it by pressing the back button several times and till it clears everything out and goes back to my main screen. However lately I have noticed that I have to push the back button about 10 times before it actually responds. Any help would be great. Thanks"

So this has been driving me nuts ever since froyo. I don't recall my phone ever doing this before 2.2
I use Handscent for sms and lets say I open it up and are going through messages while in landscape mode. Once I am done I will hit home and set the phone back down. Then when a message comes in I will pick up the phone and check it and it opens handscent back in up Landscape mode even though I am holding the phone upright. There is at least a second lag before the phone switches it back to the correct position.
This is not just with handscent but any other program that supports landscape. It's really annoying and I have hard reset more than once since froyo. The app remembers what position it was in rather than just dected the correct position in the first place. I have also tried calibrating but the phone knows what to rotate so the rotation works fine it's just the app likes to remember the last position it was in rather than the current. I don't recall this being a problem on 2.1
Is there a way to fix it? It's trying me nuts
I have a friend who also has an evo hardware build 2 (mine is 3) and that phone doesn't take nearly as long as mine. You can still see it remembers the position you of the screen when you go back in, but it flips back rather quickly where mine takes up to 4-5 seconds.
I have tried recalibrating the g-sensor numerous times. Also when I am just rotating the phone back and forth it rotates the screen very quickly, the only time it lags is when I back out of an ap and go back in later.
anyone have any ideas?
Anyone?

Are you running a stock froyo kernel?I have hardware version 002 and am running Netarchy's 4.0.3 kernel over clocked to 1.15 ghz.I can see what you're talking about but my screen rotates to the correct position almost instantly.

I am running everything stock, non-root and no over clocking - I might have to try hard resting again - not sure what else to do

Running Fresh 3.1.0.2 with net's 4.1.8 and I get the same thing with certain apps. No idea why though.

Well I thought I would post an update - I ended up doing a hard reset. The odd thing is I have hard reset twice since I got the froyo update. However the first 2 times (both times I had the problem with rotation lag) I reset using the settings under SD & phone storage.
When I reset last night I used the bootloader to reset it. The lag is now gone (you can still see it rotate but it's fast now where as before it would take up to 5 seconds to kick in only when going back into an app though)
So anyone else having this problem I would just hard reset using the key combination. I have not recalibrate the g-sensor. I am also keeping an eye on what I install to see if a certain app brings the lag back but so far everything I have installed it seems fine. Not sure what was stuck in the phone or what was going on, I never used a task killer or anything. It was driving me crazy since a lot of time I would back out of an app in landscape and go back in there portrait and it would lag.
So anyway I will report back if it comes back but hopefully it stays gone.

It's working now and the only time I had a problem was going back in to an app I left in landscape otherwise it was fast and correct. I think it's a software problem.
Well maybe this problem is more OS related but i decided to post it here since i own T989.
Every time I open something from Notifications and press the back key.... It always acts like the home button and bring me back to where i left. I HOPE ANDROID APPS CAN AT LEAST INCLUDE A BACK BUTTON JUST LIKE ALL IOS APPS SO THAT PEOPLE CAN HAVE MORE OPTIONS ABOUT WHERE THEY WANT TO GO.

That is exactly how it works it brings you back to where you left off. Most apps you click the top like twitter to bring you to your timeline mention dm etc. I understand how you feel I had an iphone for a couple of months. I didn't know how to get back to where I was before. when i press the button it always took me out of the app to the home screen. That's why I went back to android. If im in the xda app then go to twitter app it will take me back to the xda app.
Got my GN few days ago and i absolutely love it!
everything is buttery smooth but Ive noticed a little lag/stutter when i go to the recent call log on the phone app, swiping down to get to the bottom.
it only happens the first time (when u get to the bottom of the call log, after that everything is smooth again)
and i can exit out of the phone app, get back to it after 1-2min and its still lag-free, but if i come back after lets say 10 or so min, even if i didn't closed the phone app from the multitasking menu - it will stutter again (tho again - first swipe only)
now, when u go to people app and scroll the whole contacts (i have 400+ there), its smooth every single time! even when closed in multitasking menu or even when opening it after long time.
did anyone noticed that or is it just my device?
Yeah it's normal don't worry. They are probably cached at different priorities.

Not sure if this has been brought up or not yet, but im curious to see if anyone is running into a similar issue, and what they did to solve it ...
Randomly, its only happened to me 3 times thus far, my back, home, and windows key do not show up. Everything else works, i just cant close out of apps or anything like that.
Any suggestions, ultimately I just power cycle, however if someone has an easier fix Id like to use that.
Sometimes they minimize to little glowing dots and just click them to open them up. Sorry if that's not it.

My completely vanish from time to time and what ever app im in goes full screen. That is followed by a pop-up stating the the System UI has stopped.. I just keep clicking on OK and then after a few mins it goes away.
Running stock ICS haven't touched anything.
Every time I am in an app and click the home button it loads a blank home screen then takes a while to load everything on my home screen. It didn't use to do this, only started in the past few days. Any ideas?

I was having that issue after I installed a live wallpaper (Microbes). Got rid of that and it went back to normal.
Don't have a live wallpaper installed.

Are you using a custom launcher?Did you touch anything in developer options?
Did you install an app before it started acting up? It may not be fully compatible with 4.0 and causing issues. Also, have you tried to do a simple restart?
Found the issue. It was easy battery saver. Got rid of it and its fine now.

it case it happens again, what your experiencing is home screen redraw. it happens when the android system kills the launcher to save up memory.
this means that when you press home to go back to the launcher, it has to refresh, and redraw everything. and the more you have on your homescreens, and the more apps/widgets you have installed the longer it takes.
i've noticed it happening a lot on my phone when i'm switching between apps and then press home. It's normal for third party launchers but very strange for the stock one to have this so often.
I've had the exact same problem of late (also with the stock app-draw), I imagine it's a case of pinpointing the suspect app that's causing this. It's pretty serious though, a good 2 or 3 seconds and even then it's super choppy until the home screens are redrawn... The joys of early adoption :\
I was just searching to see if anyone else was experiencing this. I get the same over here.
I had similar issue. Something ate all my RAM, but it wasn't listed in 'running apps' in settings . Reboot fixed it
well folks, the sooner you go onto custom ROM the better. I tried ignoring these (and several other issues you are about to encounter) but the list was getting endless
I've bigxie and franco kernel now (4.0.3), not difficult to install, and now most of the STOCK issues are gone...
