[Q] Added Music Not Showing? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

So I added some songs to my sdcard under the default music folder and nothing is showing up. I've rebooted and tried Play Music, Now Playing, and a few others but nothing. Any ideas?

get Music app to rescan?

OK, so I copy my new music over to the Desire, but it doesn't show up in the Music library.
How do I force the music app to rescan?
I'm copying album folders to SD\music, which is where everything else it does scan lives.
Am I missing something?
Restart the phone, or install SDMount Widget, unmount the card in settings and remount by clicking on SDMount Widget.
What USB connection mode did you connect the phone to the PC in? That may also have a bearing on whether the card auto-refreshes...

You can just put a .nomedia file in the flders without media in them?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I saw that if you put a folder in the root of your sd card and name it ".nomedia" without quotes but with the dot then put all the stuff that you don't need loaded asap like music and videos..... the system wont scan this folder until you go into the app that uses these files.... It worked for me...

Strange behavior while pouring musics to my Galaxy Nexus

If you asked me this looks very odd. But when I attempt to copy some music albums from my PC down to my Galaxy Nexus, something strange happens. No matter what I do all the musics get moved to the root of the Music folder although they are originally stored in separate folders.
I even tried to copy the files into a very different folder completely apart from the default Music folder but the same thing happens every time.
I wonder why is this happening?
I'm using an Ubuntu powered box.

MTP is known for it's buggy implementation. I recommend using adb for file transfers (see the link in my signature).

It doesn't really seem like a bug to me. It's more like someone's put it there intentionally.
Thanks anyway. Seems I have to dig deeper for answers. :good:
Why don't you just sync your music files with your WMP to your phone? It's always working perfect for me. Regards

Petrovski80 is right. WMP is not currently an option on ubuntu. I guess I just have to stick with command line for now.

MP3 Skipping

Hi, I copied my mp3 collection over to my phone (tried internal and external) and every song skips but when I copy a small batch say 5/6 I have no problems.
Anyone else have this problem or is it another wipe and start again?

I have transferred the files from my PC to my SD card through a usb reader. Tha strange thing is that i have some other mp3 files that are playable. I don't understand...
---------- Post added at 09:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:08 AM ----------
Ok. I try to copy the files through a usb connection to external storage but i cannnot. I have about 6Gb of songs but it says 30,4GB free of 30,5GB. Something is wrong there....
Insert the memory card.
Format it.
Connect the phone to pc via cable.
In my computer gt-n7100 should pop up.
If not disconnect the phone and turn on usb debugging in dev setting.
Then open gtn7100 and select memory card or external storage.
Then copy all the songs.
If a notice comes up to convert select no.
If this doesn't work and your memory card is a SanDisk then throw it.

Thanks UtkarshGupta. Everythings seems to be in order now. Hope it stays that way. Some duplicates are shown in the player that are not shown in the explorer but this seems minor after all that. Thank you again.

Exclude Downloaded Sounds from Google Play?

So, been downloading a bunch of sounds for my notification and ringtone sounds from the HTC Themes store. Annoyingly these were added to the list of folders included in Google Play Music app and I cannot exclude them so that I do not see them everytime I open Music. Please help me? How do I make it so that Music only looks for songs in my "Music" folder only?

That should not happen...
Alright, normally inside your storage you should have 3 folders: alarms, ringtones, and notifications. Every time you download a soundtrack from HTC Theme, it will create a folder "theme" (depends on its category) under these 3 folders.
Please make sure you have these folders. If not, maybe, I mean maybe, HTC Theme app cannot identify the correct folder and put the downloads into the "music" folder.

That's weird. These soundtracks of theme, are they in (.ogg) format?

Uninstalling just removes updates. I do not believe this. Why am I the only one with this problem? You do not have it? Others do not have it? But, why? I just downloaded these ringtones just like all the others.

I had already tried that before posting here. Doesn't work on Android 6, it seems.
OK, I found out that these files I am talking about are stored in the "System" folder under "Media". And I cannot cut the media files in them to another folder nor create ".nomedia" file in the media folder so that it doesn't try to find media in it (talking about Google Music). What do I do now? Why is Google Play Music scanning my System files ????
