4.2.2 update in Canada - Sony Xperia ZL

Does anybody have info as to the availability in Canada?
I have an unlocked bell C6506 and have yet to see an update in the system settings or in PC companion.

It'll probably be a very long time before Bell releases it, if ever. Once I saw how far behind on firmware my phone was (10.1.A.1.395), I flashed a generic US rom. Once there's a Generic US FTF, you can flash it with flash tool. Be sure to back up your data first, it will get wiped.

Yeah don't hold your breath just use the flashtool and update with the generic us

For C6506, 'Generic US' is the only customization which has been updated to 4.2.2, see [INFO] Latest firmware version per customization (region/branding)
If your phone is rooted, you can change your customization number to 1270-7584 (Generic US). After that, you can update to 4.2.2 (but you will lose root), see [GUIDE] Download ANY firmware customization with SUS and create an FTF with Flashtool.
Please also create and share the FTF then

Xperiablog has the 4.2.2 rom available for Generic US in TFT
Just install Flash tools and flash it. Its dead simple and doesn't void any warranties, etc. Doesn't require any custom recoveries, etc.
I flashed my Rogers variant of the phone with it, works 100% (also got rid of all the Rogers bloatware)

[Q] Xperia Arc Update (Flashing)

I want to flash my Xperia Arc with the 2.3.3 xLoud update and with 2.3.4 afterwards.
I have two questions regarding the flashing;
1. Will flashing delete my installed apps and other files?
2. There are two versions available for flashing with 2.3.3; one is UK generic and the other one is Global generic. I've seen reports that the Global generic version has some 3G and WiFi problems......so is there any problem if I flash with UK generic?
NOTE: I have brought my handset from India and am living here as well.
Thanks in advance!
The guides are quite clear, so pick one and flash it.

ok.....
okay, this almost answers my query
Now, installing a rom like cyanogen mod performs a hard reset and delets everything on the phone.
So will flashing my arc with the se firmware also perform a hard reset or will my apps, contacts etc. still remain?
Just unthick "wipe userdata" in FlashTool and you'll keep everything.

Yoy didn't say what's your current version.
Just don't downgrade if you are on 2.3.4 already or u'll f*ck ur phone.
You can downgrade, but with special method.

[Q] TW R800i 2.3.3 unlocked bootloader to 2.3.4

First of all sorry to open a new thread but I've been reading a lot and can't find clear answers to my questions.
I have a Taiwanese R800i, retail not locked to any carrier, running 4.0.A.2.368 (2.3.3)
I already unlocked the bootloader to root my phone with 2.3.4, but the requirements to do that is that I'm already running stock SE 4.0.2.A.0.42 FW and because I unlocked my bootloader I can't use PC Companion to upgrade to 2.3.4 anymore.
How do I know which firmware version of to use 4.0.2.A.0.42 NA/UK/TW?
(TW version is not available in XDA forums anymore, dead link)
Are they safe to use even though I'm in Taiwan? I really don't know the difference between them.
I do know I can get the Chinese input running with Touchpal but:
What else do I lose? Only bloatware? (that's the reason I want to root on the first place)
As far as I know any version should be fine, but make sure you flash R800i firmware and not r800at.

So the only thing I need to worry about is whether the FW is for GSM or CDMA?

I'm downloading the .62 firmware so ic an flash DooMLoard's ICS leak, but I can't even find flashtool to do so. x.x
I hope you know what you're doing, because getting the latest UK firmware on R800x isn't as simple as flashing via flashtool. I would know, I've done it

well i've done everything i could and i guess I'll just wait for an official release.
Too many outdated methods and what not.
If anything I'll just stick to my G2x on Tmo.
:/
Thanks for the help.

then just install CWM for ZL over here
but root it first before flashing CWM
lastly flash a pre-rooted 4.3 rom

Well then I need the corresponding Firmware of the 4.1 cause it seems I'm not fully rooted right now some apps have access and some don't
I'm trying to flash the 4.1 kernel so I can try rooting it again even though it says it's Rooted and to try and use that method of down grading the Kernel and running Doom lords Rooting kit but when flashing the old Kernel it may not be the right one I was getting a boot loop so I re-flashed the Canadian 10.3.A.0.423 and all was fine I swear I've searched all over these forums and I can't find what I need just the instructions on how to do it a lot of these links no longer work I'm using a C6506 ZL with the Bell firmware at least I have the FTF to go with it but I need the older one as well.

Given I747 has 4.1.2 but downloading something

Hey all, have the above mentioned phone, been wiped clean and factory reset, SD card blank. But when connected to internet it starts downloading an update from Att. Now I want to root, from what I've read bootloader is unlocked, and then twrp and ROM etc. Should I take the update then root or better to root and do incremental updates then ROM. Tremendous amount of info here and am still a little unsure which way to go. Thanks

The bootloader will remain unlocked regardless of whether you do or do not take the OTA updates.
If the phone is not sim unlocked and it is still running 4.1.2, downgrade the phone to 4.1.1 using the stock ROM from sammobile.com and use the free method to sim unlock before flashing or updating.

Awesome I will, thanks much.

OK did as you said and as far as I can tell all well, now I need to update bootloader and radio/modem. Found both on xda, cwmi747ucuemjb, can I go straight to this bypassing the others. Looking to run carbon ROM d2lte 4.4.4 that I have saved. Also will update twrp to latest too. Bootloader still be unlocked right? Sorry been on Verizon so don't want to screw up.
Sent from my SCH-R530M using XDA-Developers mobile app
All versions of the i747 bootloader are unlocked.
So I can jump straight to njb from lk3 and then to ne4 using the files I downloaded. One place said to go one by one. You know I forgot to check the dates of the posts. Thanks for your help.
