Hello,
I had just flashed CM10.1, and to reiterate the title, experiencing issues that I could not find answers for.
First: Why is Auto Rotation not working? (have already looked into settings, all check out)
Second: Where is the button(the one with three dots on the bottom bar in the right corner that appears in apps, i think it was made to open in app settings) not there?
Third: (may or may not be because of rom) Kindle Fire does not connect to computer and be detected whatsoever( it did work when i had and older version of TWRP, just had to mount usb in recovery, but when i did update TWRP, it stopped appearing in computer even when mounted)
I Flashed this build:cm-10.1-20130611-0025-otter-sgt7, which i downloaded from this thread:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=20513
If anyone can help, thank you, my frustration is starting to get the better of me.
1. Not sure about this one. When I used the 6-11 build rotate worked. Now I'm on cm 10.1 official "stable" and rotate doesn't work.
2. Go to settings - system -hardware keys, and check "show action overflow".
3. Try reinstalling the drivers you used to root your kf. Try reinstalling multiple times if it doesn't work at first. Eventually it showed up for me.
Cheers!

same here. when I flashed the official cm10.1 2013 otter, my auto rotation would not work. This also happen on the last RC zips. When I flash the latest Nightlies 0624, all is well.
Not sure about this one.
Rotation works on smooth ROM (cm 10.1)

I'm having the same issue with my KF regarding PC recognition. I've tried installing the drivers a million times and I just can't install them again for some reason. I'm stuck at this point.
Try and wipe the cache, dalvik, etc. and do a fresh install of the .zip, because mine works fine. I had trouble before with connecting to PC via USB, but re-installed and enabled USB debugging and now it is working fine!

Hi - I got everything installed and set up just fine on my Kindle Fire, with one glaring exception - I cannot get the Google Apps to install. Whenever I try to install them, I get a message that the zip files could not be extracted...but the zips for the ROMs install flawlessly. I have sideloaded the apps as instructed elsewhere in the forums, but anytime I launch a Google app, I get the login screen, it hangs for a few minutes, and then gives me a message that my "phone may not be provisioned for data services". WiFi is fully functional, and nothing else ever gives me a networking error.
I have tried multiple Google app file bundles, multiple Google system framework APKs, and cannot get past this problem. I have cleared the cache and the Dalvik cache before every installation, et al.
Any help would be appreciated - the work on this is absolutely incredible. The fact that I am able to use a Kindle Fire that my daughter tired of after a month for an Android tablet at work is amazing. Exchange works great - it would be even better if I could get Google Play and the associated Google Apps running though. Thanks a million in advance.
What ROM are you using? Which TWRP version are you using?

I had the exact same problem a week or two ago. I ended up wiping everything (except SD partition), re-flashed the ROM and had success. I was getting the same message when trying to connect initially to Google. I'm a big fan of starting over fresh to solve problems lol.....after the fresh flash I side loaded the Gapps I wanted. The ROM was cm10 alien and I also use the same TWRP.

Hello I rooted my kindle fire 2nd edition when it was version 10.3.1. Everything was working fine then I turned it on one day and the root I installed stopped working. I looked at the version number and it had changed to 10.4.1. I re-rooted it with the same tools I used the first time. It worked fine for a few minutes then I started getting the message pop ups [the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped] then [es taskmanager has stopped]. When I go to the google apps it starts the same pop ups again [google play services has stopped]. Everything seems to work ok. I tried to reinstall the google apps and framework and vending pak. Nothing will get rid of the pop ups. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Same thing happened to me, sort of. I found superuser failed to grant permissions after re-rooting. Uninstalled superuser and installed superSU and everything reset a right after a reboot.

My superuser and all the apps worked fine until I red screened it. I tried to put twrp on it using this thread [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100963]. I have a red screen now. I am working on a fastboot cable to restore my original image. I read in another post after I red screened mine that Amazon tried to close the hole to prevent rooting. They almost have. I now have it back to version 10.2.3 using KFU. I also used it to re root it. I tried installing TWRP again using the same thread and boot looped it. I used the Kindle fire system image utility to un loop. I am now back to a rooted kf2 researching another way to install twrp.
I could swear I had the setting set to off with respect to automatic firmware updates, but either way my previously rooted Kindle 2nd generation did get the newest firmware. What is cool in my case, at least so far, is the Google play store still works perfectly fine, I can still order whatever I want from it. Also my ADW launcher still works fine, I can still switch in between the normal carousel Kindle stock interface or go over to an Android type of setting using ADW. Not sure about wallpapers but I don't really care as all I really wanted when I rooted was to be able to install the Google play store and be able to use whatever I wanted to use and I can still do that. I no longer have root though, Kindle free opens and tells me the kindle is improperly rooted and root checker tells me I am not rooted. Is there an easy way to reroot this or should I just leave well enough alone? I am afraid the next firmware update will finish the job on me and I have no way to stop that now (not that it worked the first time I set it to not update lol)
Reinstalled Twrp
I tried the thread [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100963] for installing TWRP again and it worked perfectly. I now have twrp running. Next I will try to flash cm10.1 and gapps. Wish me luck. :good: I would like to thank Hashcode and all the other developers for the step-by-step instructions. I am now running CM10.1 and it works great.
okay so i rooted my kindle successfully, had the superuser icon in apps (backed up my system) using cmd "dd etc.." code
then i went on to install twrp (which was also successful)
but when booting after twrp installating it gets stuck at the white blue logo screen (kindfire logo) *help how do i fix? i want stock kindle look but rooted and working twrp*
it just stays stuck...
now upon restart i can access TWRP and i decided to push cm 10.1 to the kindle fire and install cm10.1 ( just so i can actually get past kindle fire blue logo)
installing cm10.1 was succesfull but now my pc wont identify my kindle...i hear the noise as though a new device was plugged in but when i check my devices and folders the kindle isnt connected or anywhere to be found... *would also like help with pc not recognizing kindle after twrp install*
so to sum it up
i want help retaining root + twrp and stock kindle interface...
and also how can i get my pc to recognize my kindle again?
please help :crying:
btw i was running version 8.4.6
OK the reason more than likely you can't view your device in cm is because windows is still using the kindle drivers for the MTP connection, so go into he device manager, find the amazon kindle, believe its under portable devices, and uninstall it, then scan for new devices, windows should find it and automatically install the right driver for use with cm. Also you can't use twrp with latest stock amazon, its detects the second bootloader/twrp, and refuses to boot. You have to use the last version that the freedomboot.img is , don't remember offhand but its in the filename. If you use that stock is with it, it should work fine.

got it, i think ima rock out with cm10.1, do you happen to know where on this forum i cant find cm 10.1 themes and wallpapers etc
Themes are usually in the Google play store... If u want a tablet ui on cm 10.1 flash the zip in my post on top of what you have and wipe dalvik cache and cache and reboot, but if it is cm 10.2 don't use my patch. That's the closest thing you will find to a theme around here I think, though I think i saw someone with a lot of wallpaper floating around somewhere...
Edit: I take that back don't use my tablet ui, forgot I was in the 8.9" section, its meant for 7" version though it may be compatible, but I don't have a 8.9" to test it on and it has a script that prevents it from flashing if its not a 7" model.

Hello all,
I need some advice. I have tried CM11 roms and Gapps packages, only to break the keyboard or break the audio or severely ruin something, or have no working market place (google play)
I finally got everything working perfect and rebooted to do a nandroid and now the wireless is greyed out and will never turn on. I wiped and started over, setup my phone rebooted, wireless stopped working. I have come to realize that I can never reboot or power down or i have to wipe my phone and start over, as wifi is effectively permanently disabled, I have tried clearing cache and data on the settings app, i have tried rebooting, using CWM recovery menu to "Fix permission" or try reverting to previous backups like the ones i took after i setup my phone, but they no longer have wifi since i rebooted them too. for some ridiculous reason. I cannot ever reboot, run out of battery, etc,.. or i have to reformat and reconfigure all my settings its driving me insane. I've spent a few days with holding swears and refraining from throwing the phone lol.
Please help
I used KitKat 4.4.2 (CyanogenMod 11.0) 20140116 From NovaFusion and i found a Gio-Gapps-4.4.2.zip online it appears to be the only combination that isn't a total horrendous broken mess without audio, keyboard or play store can't even find google servers. Please any recommendation for fixing my wifi or maybe links to an updated or better version of cm would work?
P.S. Jenkins CM11 just says (Status 0) Installation Exiting, and won't install either.
For latest cm11(from jenkins maybe), u need CWM 6.0.5.3 recovery.
Thank you very much =), I have a new problem now though. I installed CWM from the link you gave me and Jenkins installed, then i factory reset, wiped cache, and wiped dalvik, and rebooted. The Setupwizard crashes though and I can't go any further, I tried flashing Gio-KK-Gapps-4.4.0.zip and rebooted and its still crashes. Any advice?
Follow this process:
1. Do a clean install of cm11.
2. Reboot & wait for home screen.
3. Switch off & then flash G-Apps.
4. Reboot.
If still force close occurs, just press home button & wait until home screen appears.
Or u may try different G-Apps.
Hope this helps...!!
Btw...there's thanks button for ur ease
Everything works except the keyboard, but i uninstalled the keyboard and used ADB to install a new one. Thank you very much for your help =)!
ur welcome bro
Hi guys. Kindle 8.9 HD non-LTE. Today I flashed LiquidSmooth 3.2 (and Liquid_gapps build 8.1) over CM11, then did full wipe/reset. Overall the ROM is great, seems much smoother than CM11, but two potential dealbreakers:
1. Youtube doesn't work at all. Says connection to server lost. I've seen some suggestions to try Cposed module, but doesn't seem many people have had success.
2. Google Now doesn't work. It says Network error whenever I try to open. I tried to uninstall all updates and install the google app clean, no luck.
Any thoughts/help on either? Thanks.
