Hello, just have a doubt here that's kind of bugging me and haven't been able to figure it out.
I bought an allshare cast dongle and discovered the painful process that it is to get it to work with a custom rom.
After a long process and different methods I finaly got it to work and I am quite happy with the device, however, I have a bunch of mkv's with subtitles and whenever I play the file through mx video player, the video looks and sounds fine on the tv but the subtitles show up in the phone.
Other than hardcoding those subs into the file before playing it, I can't come up with a solution.
I also tried rockplayer but that doesn't even play the subs at all.
Do you guys have any video player recomendations that will play both the mkv and the embeded subs in the tv through the dongle?
Thanks in advance.
try enabling hardware decoding for subtitles, it's in the MX player settings.

I installed the alpha version of VLC media player and was able to directly play a 1080P WMV file which is not currently supported by Amazon media player. Playback wasn't entirely smooth, but not sure if this is due to a alpha software that may not support the video accleration features of the Fire. In any case, this shows that VLC will allow us to play other formats than what Amazon is supporting.
Anyone try TetherGPS?
Has anyone tried a simple .AVI file?
yea, the bundled dash limits showing most video files moved to the device in the videos tab. This being said if you install mxplayer or any other relevant vid player and use root explorer or even go launcher playing most divx / avi videos is a breeze.
Well doesnt the nook Tablet have the same processor and stuff that the Fire does. I know the Nook Tablet can play 1080p so why couldnt the fire?
The VLC app for Android is in Alpha version so maybe trying another fully tested and released player known to work with Nook at 1080P is in order to compare apples to apples.
I wasn't able to play an XviD encoded AVI, but sideloading Moboplayer (com.clov4r.android.nil-1.apk) works great.

Thanks for the tip. I downloaded moboplayer pro (free) from the Android Market and it played the 1080P WMV much smoother than the VLC player alpha.
Hello everyone, i have Blu ray rip mkv (from 20-40gb each mkv) in my usb hdd, when i play it on my Galaxy note 2 the video runs fine but without audio and when the video starts a msg appear at the bottom says something about only video is playing. I have MX player pro, PlayerPro, Real Player and i tried on all of them and on defualt video player as well. The funny thing is the tv series episodes like vampire diaries, mentalist, big bang theory i download in 720p rip mkv(from 900mb to 1.5gb) it runs perfectly. Is there some sort of codecs i need for the audio in Blu ray rips i'm trying to play or some other player.
I'll be very grateful for help.

try bsplayer.
I tried all the apps you mentioned with no luck. Bsplayer can play everything i got in my video library.
ok I will, Thanks.
I use dice player. It's played anything I've thrown at it so far and it has a pop up feature as well.
With MX Player Pro try going into settings and changing it from H/W to S/W.. That's what I use and everything I watched plays just fine
bs player handsdown. i tried them all, non of them would play DTS audio mkv file except bs player. unfortunately, stock samsung has better video quality but no sound lol
Actually the stock player should be able to handle them.
I have mx player installed and bs player also.
One thing that bs player has that others don't, playing videos over a Windows share. You can play music videos back to back without needing to select the next song.

Both myself and my brother have played mkv files on our devices with no issues. I have the note II and he has an s III .... not sure what the issue is you are having but I don't think it is the video player... I use stock, so does he.
+1 for BSPlayer, also consider Archos with the additional Codec Add-on
I've found that on my version of the Note II, MXPlayer Pro, the default Video Player, IMToo, all did not work because of the lack of an AC3 codec.
The ones that worked were:
- Archos Video Player (with the Codec Add-On installed)
- BSPlayer
- VLC, however does not play .m4v files
- XBMC, however lags on playback
In the end it was between Archos and BSPlayer. The Archos Player has a better UI along with the ability to bookmark within the video. BSPlayer has the capability of resizing the video to any size, and locking the aspect ratio on-screen. It also connects to opensubs.org to download external subs on the fly, if needed.
Being an XBMC / OpenELEC user, since I'm comfortable with the interface and the plug-in system, I'm hoping that it will be optimized for Android in the future. When that day comes, I will switch back to XBMC. But for now, I flip back between Archos and BS Player.
Thanks for your help guys, my problem is solved

Hi everybody,
my nexus 7 with stock 4.3 unrooted does play most h.264 1080p content with hardware acceleration using diceplayer or other 3rd party players flawlessly. However 1080i live streams from my tvheadend server (dvb-s2) or recordings from either the tvheadend server or my TV do not. I've tried several players (bsplayer, diceplayer, ES Media Player, MoboPlayer, MXPlayer, VLC, VPlayer) but none does hw acceleration with those files. It also doesn't matter if I record them as a ts-file or an mkv-container.
I've attached a short recording (from Sky Germany inbetween shows, so there shouldn't be any copy rights violated I hope). Somehow attaching the file wouldn't work so I uploaded it externally:

I'd appreciate any help to get this working.
Thanks
I have a problem with some movies/series I'm watching on my Galaxy Tab S 10.5, the audio wont play at all sometimes. I'm using MX Player. I was watching these series (The Mentalist) and episodes were playing fine (MKV files), until I ran into one that would play but on mute, I tried playing the file on my PC and it was fine.
I looked around and apparently MKV is not supported by this tab? but why can I play a lot of other MKV files without any problem?

MKV is supported, AC3 is not. I don't know why samsung exclude AC3 audio codec from firmware. You can either try to enable software audio encoding in MX player or use VLC player, OR if you have a root acces, u can install AC3 codec. search here on XDA about how to do it.

Playing MKV without audio probleem. There is a special codec you can download somewhere on the net, just look around.
I use allplayer to play some movies that aren't supported in the default player.

What about 720p mkv files?

Click on the "note" icon right to the H/W button. Then select Use s/w audio decoder.
Hello All,
I have a TCL iFfalcon Android certified TV. The default video player works almost perfect all the time. However, the default player could not load subtitles while playing from DLNA using UMS or BubbleUPnP. So I would like to load these videos in the MX Player app which I installed from Play Store. However I could not find any way to do this. I have tried all methods like resetting app preference etc.
Any help is highly appreciated.
