[Q] Any way to fine-tune volume adjustment? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I'm growing increasingly more disappointed with Android's volume control.. it seems like most of the levels are pretty okay, but once you get towards the middle there's a point where it goes from too quiet to too loud.
How can I solve this issue? More specifically, how can I increase the control I have over my volume output?

You could try Volumizer from the Play Store.

There's a build.prop tweak that lets you decrease the step size between the jumps

It's been a LONG time since I've seen the exact code for it, so it would take some searching
Basically, each time you press the VolUp/VolDown buttons, it goes up by a certain amount, right? This tweak let's you change that to make it smaller, and therefore easier to select the right volume level
So instead of going by steps of 14 units, for example, you can change it to steps of 10, 8, etc

Unfortunately that method is a bit old and the resources referenced are no longer consistent with the process.
Turns out the method I posted is for HTC One only. Just figured that out. Dammit.

Here is another volume mod thread,, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42631958
Sent from my HD2 using xda app-developers app

All three methods posted are exactly the same.
But the "safer, updated" version seems like it is for another device, because we do not have any of those roms and that mod was made specifically for each those roms' frameworks.

The thread I posted says he can make it for all, he even has one made for an S3 CM 10.1 rom already. He says all he needs is you're framework.jar. ROM just needs to be deodexed.

And you can always odex a deodexed app/framework file.

did you follow all of his steps or did you download one has made already? this mod is rom specific and needs to be made with your roms framwork.jar. he's opening post says he'll make it for you if you send him your framwork.jar file. try pm ing him and ask if he'll help or make it for you.

[MOD] Disable softkeys backlight

This is to allow one to disable the MENU and BACK softkey backlights. Its an option in CM ROMs but it doesnt stick after reboot and sometimes(for me) wouldnt always hold true.
I have tested this ONLY on CM/AOSP ROMs, it may or may not work on stock. However, its SAFE to flash to any ROM. But is not guarenteed to work.
That being said, whatever you do to YOUR phone is YOUR responsibility.
Also, not sure if this has been covered xD
Installation is simple:
Flash attached zip via any CUSTOM recovery and reboot.
Then enjoy.
Thanks guys hope ive helped.

wasn't my intention again, apologize if I came off that way, your post made it out to be like you found it "I found a mod that solved my problem" somewhere and copy and pasted it, just saying that it's best to give credit with a link so that people can confirm where it came from. this is what I was talking about, I liked this cause it made the software keys pointless while having Nav bar up... but I liked the camera physical button option.
If you don't want this up I'll remove it. thanks again, and apologies again.

I just got a little carried away, i was just trying to share my discoveries with the community and i felt like i was being belittled and that my mod wasnt "good enough" to be shared.
And what i meant by "i found a mod" is that i actually discovered a method to fix my issue... my wording was confusing so i understand where you were coming from based on that.
Its just, look at my thanks meter, look at my post count, look at my join date...... i know the rules and i NEVER take anyone else's credit as my own. I guess it felt like i was being treated as a newb lol. xD
But those are pretty cool. I made something like that for the S2, except it didnt have the remap options, nobody asked for it xD. And then someone wanted the search key to be camera key so i made one for that. Im very familiar with modding and tweaking, themeing pretty much anything. But im glad were "cool" now. lol. i just really felt like i was being belittled and looked down upon.

Android 4.2 google music player

hey guys, i have the google music player from the new nexus dump that has been floating around the interwebs. it works fine on my s3 and it should on yours too. i have had no problems at all and no FC's. i have not yet tried this on anything apart from stock and omega, so it it works on yours, reply letting the rest of the community know
first, rename the downloaded "music2.apk" to "MusicPlayer.apk" and dont change the downloaded "MusicFX"
then go into system/app and delete your old music player, should be named "MusicPlayer.apk" and also delete "MusicFX.apk"
then simply paste both of the new files in.
set permissions for both of them to rw, r, r
and finally, reboot.
the new music player should be in your app draw
its much better than the stock Samsung one in my opinion
oh, and dont forget to backup

Could be library related problems, meaning that you also need the lib files.
Edit: Just finished downloading. I see the problem. You need to integrate the odex file back into the apk first. Google it. There's a guide somewhere.

Let's just stop being pedantic.
Yes it is possible to do however it would take a stupid amount of time to merge the framework dependencies into the app.
A task that not many people would be bothered to do.
As previously linked. If the guy who previously ported the v4 music player won't do it because it's so deeply integrated. I can't imagine anyone will want to put the amount of effort in for a music player

That seems to be the question always with VZW. I am working on porting the AT&T one - and it is very close to building without errors. So hopefully I will have that soon (and it will work):fingers-crossed: until we get source.
