Hi everybody!
My Xperia Arc felt into water. I put it in rice 2 days, and screen started, but black.
But yesterday, the phone started, and worked, but touchscreen bug :It seemed to have fingers on it. But after some minutes, at times it works. The screens bugs a little when luminosity is low.
So it works now, but it seems to have suffered a lot..
How to know if it's dried now, or if water is always in it? And... will he die in a few days?
Thanks boys, and sorry for very bad english, I speak french.
Have a good evening!
Now screen good, but some little bugs stay. So my Arc is saved
Haha ya they say if phone falls in water u shud put it in heat to evaporate the water
Bt touch screen is usually very sensitive to water
On a touch mp4 i had i put a few drops of water and placed it in my closet for a week or so, without drying the water
After a week there was precipitate on the inside and the touch was ruined
Sent from my LT18i
No, never put it in heat.. Smartphones hate heat!
Now no more big bugs, I think water stayed a little in the screen. Some so little little touchscreen bugs and white almost invisible traces
Lawl by heat i mean sumwhere the water can evaporate XD not actually on fire

I'll see. Bug heat isn't right choice.
So now my Arc is saved. No more bugs, touchscreen OK, battery consuption normal, etc =D
This phone is awesome but too slow. Less RAM.
I'm on x-stronger ROM, it's a very good ROM. If you have a advice, give me =)

Well this is my first post after sometime as a silent reader, I hate to post this
I put my xplay on my rain coat's pocket while it hard rain...I never thought that it would be a "little swimmingpool" for my xplay but it was..
I opened my xplay n cleaned it before I turned it on after 2 days
Now my xplay :
-Touchscreen won't work anymore
-It won't boot to system if it not being charged
-If it being charged I can turn it on n boot into the system, but touchscreen won't work so I use dpad to explore,..but still its hard sometimes
Does anyone can give me solution before I send it to SSC (Sony Service Centre)..?
I think it's done for. If possible, make a nandroid backup so.I can still have your apps and stuff

I installed cwm either flashed doomkernel but it can't enter cwm menu...so its impossible to make nandroid backup..
If I turned on without being charged, it would show "Sony Ericsson" only even after 4-5 hours I let it on
you can try to clean whole the system board with isopropyl alcohol and then wash it with dishwashing detergent and a toothbrush, to ensure don't remain rests of water sulfate after this you can dry it with a hair dryer.

First of all that's funny! Silly things happen when we are drunk.
I suggest you fully dry your phone out put it in a sack of rice for a few days then see what happens.

It's highly unlikely you managed to get it completely dry in 1 day.
Stick it in a bag of rice for 24 hours and hope for the best.

You could try a factory reset, but strange things happen from water damage.
My old Sony Ericsson worked fine, except for the fact (after I dropped it in a pan of gravy) that the gsm aerial only had a weak signal. Everything else was normal..
Could try silica gel, but there could be corrosion (you can't always even see the corrosion) from minerals/deposits in the water, which is causing a short circuit somewhere, causing the problem.
Unfortunately any water damage automatically (to the repair centers at least) means it's BER (beyond economical repair) so if you can't fix it from it drying out (ideally give it at least 3 days or even more in the rice or silica gel) the only option really is to buy a new one, or claim on insurance if you have cover.

Hi there,
I've been using WFS for over three months and one night I placed it in front of air cooler and slept..
From the next day onwards my touch gone wild.. Only 1/4 of the vertical part in the left of screen reacts to touch and the remaining part is dead.
when the device gets heated due to usage or by placing in sun magically touch worked normally as nothing happened..
I brought this to the notice of technician in service center. He checked the device and stated everything with digitizer is fine..
Could anybody explain me whats happening and provide me a solution...
thanks
Maybe a bit moisture accumulated on your digitizer......try using a hair dryer at medium or low heat
Keep the phone in a rice container for 24 hours. remove battery, memory card and sim.
Lock the container.
Sure about this???

Yeah it does work. Google it out.
Rice container can soak the moisture inside the phone (if any). I once lost my phone to water (Not this one, my old nokia phone) and on some googling I found out this.

I did like what you said but nothing happened. Its acting like it is having some kind of switch. As soon as the temperature fell below some level 3/4 of the left vertical part of the touch screen stops working... I don't understand the reason. Technician said there's nothing wrong with my digitizer. Any more help...

Why not just give it in to the service center? Show them your problem. Anyways its in warranty. And I'm hoping you haven't rooted or anything.

That'd work if there was some moisture in the phone. It'd drain out moisture but your problem may be caused coz of something else. Better give it to service center.

Thing is I'm out of warranty...
So, that day, my Xperia S got dipped in water only at the top part of the phone, of where the headphone jack is, now the phone suddenly turned off and it tried to restart, but the water...it again turned it off, brown screen, white screen, blue red LED light, vibrations and etc happened, it was unfortunate that i couldn't remove the battery immediately as it was fixed and I didn't had the right tool to dissemble it, now the phone turned off and got heated for a while , and then back to normal, it wont boot, so next day I kept it on the sunlight for the whole day and tried to boot it again but no, it will not , tried to charge it..but, nothing... then next day I took it to the Service Centre but they said they need to replace the main board which is around 270 euros , I came back home and dissembled it and saw there were seemed some fungus type , or carbon? around the small squares... specially around near the power button wires, I bought a bottle of Isopropyl alcohol to clean it, the battery, when I tried to feel the pinch of current flow from the "+" & "-" with the tongue, I felt nothing, completely nothing, so the battery was above 60% when dipped, can the LI-Ion battery be damaged by the water? is there any chance of survival of my pity Xperia S? or what should I do?
Wow that sounds like the opposite of the Z advert. Lol.
Try leaving it in a bag of rice for a couple of days. It's commonly known to sort out wet phones as it absorbs all the moisture out

but I think it's already been dried up right? the guys in the Service Centre also heated it, it has been 4 days, and by the way, how will rice help in absorbing if there is moisture in unseen parts of the main board? and am I late for the rich thing?
That "fungus" is actually water damage. Check the main board for short circuits. Thats the bad thing of having a non renovable battery. You shouldnt have tried to turn it on or charge it( you probably fried the board by doing that). Its too late for the rice trick. Might as well buy a new phone.

Why did that happen? Did you do it on purpose? I suppose it's time for a new phone. If you're an active user that uses your phone outdoors like me, I recommend you that you buy the Xperia Z.

Agree with comments above me. Time for a new phone. I recommend you to buy a water resistant phone like the Xperia Z, if it's too expensive for you and you don't need a high end phone... Buy the Acro S
