I used S2 too and I just bought Grand Duos so here's the reason.
Dual Sim (my main point of buying)
Big Screen (also my main point of buying)
Price
Longer battery
Better and louder sound output.
Well, I don't really playing games on it so can't give any comments on this but I do test a few high quality games and it works well too.

It depends on which games you play
Most HD games work good on grand

After Gio, then what phone ? :)

Hello to all fellow Gio-ers, I just wanna ask u guys a question. Any phones that u guys might recommend, mid range- low range 3.5 inch ++ screen with front camera? Cos I might be changing phone soon as my contract expired. Also, shud I keep using android , or change to windows phone? Cos I've meddled with android for a while now. ( I can't afford ios, lol.) Any suggestions are absolutely welcome.

[POLL] What will be your next device?

Hello all,
I'm curious to see what you guys are doing with the fact that @arco68 is switching to the S4 Mini. I planned to switch device next January, mainly because it's my birthday then, and I got some money to spend. The first phone that came to my mind was the next Nexus: I really like the support and ROMs available for my Nexus 7. But the problem is that the Nexus 7 community is such a big mess, after 4 months I still don't recognize names like here. So that gives me two other options: buying the S4 Mini to get @arco68 great development, or take another less popular device but get the risk of getting no CM and stick with the awfull skin given by the manufacturer.
I'd really like to see you guys opinion on this
- Jasper
EDIT: If you're using Tapatalk to view this tread, you may have to open it in the browser to see the poll.
I'll definitely go with S4 mini
-Sent from CM10.1 i8150-
My next device is surely galaxy s4 mini
Sent from my CM10.1 Wonder using xda premium
I don't know but if I have the money I'll go to s4mini. I think with arco68, there's no need to go for a high-end device. The things arco has done with the galaxy w is surely overwhelming and surely s4mini will be the same should he choose to develop for the phone.
Although a sony midrange is a possibility for me too. Sony devices most likely never hits the low activity forums/legacy and the attention from other rom makers is a good thing to consider.

Well, somehow it's stuck in my head that I need a Phone with a bigger screen :x
The SGW was my very first Smartphone. Now you could nearly call it my best friend or my personal agent xD
So I would consider myself as a "heavy user", therefore I'm thinking of buying a high-end-smartphone, like the SGS, the Sony Xperia Z or the Galaxy Nexus =/
But theres more than a year to go until I can change my provider, so I will keep my SGW for a while and look around what the market will bring
SG Nexus? Maybe, but there maybe a new Nexus device, so I'll wait.
S4/S4 Mini? Not my priority.
Xperia Z? I'll see if I can afford that one.. I also wait for ZR version.
Xperia L? Maybe?
I'll absolutely stay away from HTC and LG. But who knows if there is a new, revolutionary version?
No, I wasn't sending this from my computer.
Time will tell, but for now the SGW still suits my needs. It´s still a phone and a tool, nothing more. Neither a life companion like for some babys here who can´t find a partner and are having no friends, nor anything I need to survive. It´s still good to call my wife who is my life companion and for surviving in the Amazone jungle I prefer a swiss pocket knife rather than a phone without connection

I agree with you sir,
for a moments I'll stick to this phone. My daily use is just phone, sms and some chat. not really do gaming. So I still satisfied with this phone. I'm not used to change phone too often, i usually change when my phone can't working well again. or i have more budget, then i will give my phone to my family.
the main reason is surely the budget, if we have more money, sure we will change phone more often.
If i got the bucks, S4 mini. Otherwise, Motorola Atrix....

My SGW feels so outdated in comparision with my tablet...
The battery is draining like hell, and performance is awfull.
Since it will take some months till I got the money to buy a new phone, I don't think it will be the S4 Mini. That time it will be an outdated thing. And I won't let that happen thrice.

Well.. I'm Not A Fan Of The 5" Screen !
So I Was Thinking That My Next Phone Might Be Xperia ZR (4.55") ,, But Now.. I'm Really Thinking Of The Galaxy S IV Mini
Currently using Galaxy Tab 2 for gaming, and hell it runs a lot of games that Galaxy W can't or have problem with like M.U.S.E, Ku Shroud of Morrigan, Castle Master 3D, etc. Currently aiming to buy Galaxy S4, maybe at the end of this year.
I would love the SGS 4 Mini, and not just for arco's development, but mainly for me. I really like that device. But with a 350-400EUR price tag....I think I'm going to stick with the Galaxy W until the price drops down a little.

That depends, Grand resolution is quite low (480x800) on a 5 inch screen and don't have SAMOLED screen (Higher energy consumption + color looks dull compared to SAMOLED). But Grand offers dual SIM support GT-I9082 and screen is larger.
For S2+ 480x800 resolution is acceptable on a 4.3 inch screen and have a SAMOLED screen, which makes the color looks more vivid.
But if you upgrading from cheap phones like old Nokia 5800, Grand will be a good choice for you and you will not realize the screen is low-end. But from S3 to Grand, you will realize that's a huge downgrade, except Grand memory management is good. (Low RAM usage, but also depends on how many apps you have)

i suggest don't!! Its low end as this section don't have more developers to get separate section! s2 plus is far better and gives rich feeling! @panda00 can give more information
Well... my dad owns a Galaxy Grand, and I own an S2 Plus. Had experiences with both phones... They're pretty much equal. The Grand has two things in its advantage... multiwindow, and a big screen. The S2 plus however, has a much sharper screen (Super AMOLED, much higher ppi too), NFC, and it's much cheaper! Also it is a better and more premium looking phone.
If you can save a few bucks and compromise external storage then buy a nexus 4

mega is just too big ... not suitable for daily use....

Is this phone good for me??????

Hi guys.. im planing to buy grand or s3.. i like dual sim option in grand.. i read the all specs changes between the two phone.. but my main purpose is buying a phone is game play without lag.. good batery life... xda development support , future samaung software updayes and usability.. can i expect all this from granda?? Can someone explain me?? I lv this phone.. but i like to listen from you guys coz u guys are not average users
And another thing... if i use cuatom rom can use dual sim option?
GRAND is midrange phone so samsung will not provide future major updates like they give their S or Note series and also development support on samsung galaxy S series more and all apps compablity also better in S series phones. Regarding build quality grand has better design like samsung S4 but in terms of hardware its almost like samsung galaxy S2 good for daily using and playing HD games in low or mid quality. And dual sim features are still not compatible with custom Roms.
I charge my grand 2 times daily, recently updated on jb 4.2.2 most of time I play Asphalt 8 and use net, before rooting my grand asphalt 8 only running on very low and low graphics options but after rooting I changed my ph model no to S4 model now its running Medium and high setting.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
I agree with Suraj007 on the fact that development is more on the S series legacy devices like S3
But for everyday use my Grand's battery life easily goes over 20 hours, if I'm not playing games all around the clock of course
Hardware wise, the screen for S3 is AMOLED and Grand uses TFT, so upto user choice which one is preferred. In my opinion, S3 has a better screen, resolution and ppi, but unless you are stickler for those kind of things, you won't notice it. S3 also has a better Processor compared to Grand but the difference isn't that vast. But in case of looks, Grand beats S3 any day as it looks close to Note2 and S4 devices while S3 just looks aged
As Suraj007 pointed out, some custom ROMs don't support dual sim functionality, but only those based on CM10 have issues, that are in process of being resolved. The most popular and widely used stock based-ROM (GENNXT ROM in my signature) for Grand supports Dual Sim without any issues
As for updates, both S3 and Grand Duos are in the list of possible devices to receive the 4.4 KitKat update in the upcoming months
I got both Grand n S3
And I can tell you that only major difference is Screen ....
Nothing else ...
Camera is same on both but pics will look much more sharp on s3 bcoz of screen resolution 720p
Games run equally good on both devices ...
But games compatibility is better on s3
Once yu hold the device the look n feel is better on s3 ... s3 can be used in one hand
Grand is better in battery backup ... if u know how to preserve the battery .... 10% better not much
Grand has 4.2.2 now official .... samsung yet to release 4.2.2 or 4.3 on s3 .... still its running 4.1.2
But s3 has much better development ....
Buy S3 .... the xtra cost is worth the money.

and i think qcom is better for development always...
It depends because grand is a mid range phone I have been using it for a year and I haven't faced any problem till now there's no lag in games like asphalt 8 fifa 14 etc but I would prefer s3 as it has 1.4ghz quadcore snapdragon processor and its gameplay is also great!! It depends on your choice just go for the phone with the best features as both of these phones have great gameplay!!
