Make sure your recovery is up to date.
Where did you store them? If you put them in the intsd, check the 0 folder.

Did you check with file explorer if built in to your Rom and see if it is still there?
Or maybe check on the computer with mass storage.
I think it is possible that got corrupted or deleted some how.

Yeah if I use file explorer I see it. I tried downloading it again to see if that's the problem but that didn't work

Try another recovery. And make sure the gapps are zipped. Recoveries wont read it if its not zip properly

So you just title the zip "update" then flash it?
Don't need to rename it. Just boot into recovery & select the proper zip to flash.

Unrelated to the epic...I rooted my sisters phone while she was visiting over the weekend. She had to leave before I could flash CM7 on her phone so I'm doing it remotely right now. Her phone is old and has no support really so I'm asking here. When I try to boot in CWM it won't. I have figured out why but cannot fix it remotely. Is there a way to get gapps installed without going through CWM? Like download the .apk files individually and install them so she can at least log into her google account until I can fix it?

I think maybe you could download the gapps zip, extract it somewhere, and copy the apk files into the /system/app folder on the root of the phone. You'd have to use a file manager on the phone with root access, I recommend ES File Explorer, if you use this one then you have to tic a couple settings: Up to Root, Root Explorer, and Mount File System. After you copy the files into the system/app folder (ON THE PHONE, NOT ON THE SD CARD) then reboot the phone and should hypothetically be working.
Without having gapps, she will need to install amazon app store to get es file explorer, unless you want to track down the apk for it for her. As long as her browser is working she should be able to download the amazon app store without any trouble.
Thank you! Will give it a try.

Hm it keeps saying copy failed which sounds like there is no root but there is and things can be deleted. Anyone good with adb know if it can be flashed that way?

have u checked the blobs folder internal and external sd card?
Which version of CM did you flash. If you flashed one of the nightly builds dated 12/17 and forward you may have flashed 10.1 which is JB 4.2.1. JB 4.2.1 modifies the directory layout to make way for multi-user support and puts the contents of your /sdcard/ folder to /sdcard/0/ which may cause your backups to not be recognized by CWM.
Before we can help we need to know which version you flashed. Thanks!

If you have USB MTP functionality you can just connect it to your computer and manually move your CWM folder from /sdcard/0 to /sdcard/
Then simply boot to recovery and CWM should see your list of backups.

I'm on the same boat as the OP. I tried doing what you recommended but the darn files won't copy and it takes ages. I'm helpless. Hating CM10 for ruining my life lol.
Aww don't hate on cm, the new update is causing some pretty big problems, but keep in mind it is only 3 days old. give it some time. =)
There are a couple of possible solutions:
1.) Flash back to stock using ODIN and then reinstall a custom recovery/ROM.
2.) ADB push the backups to the correct folder.
Either option should work just fine. In the future I'd also recommend TWRP as your recovery manager. It has a built in file manager that saved me on this issue by allowing me to copy the data to the correct folders within the recovery module itself.

This is what I figured. However, the backup fails with message "Error while restoring /system".
Tried using CWM 6.0.0.0 (which version is equipped with cm10 stable?) and installing cm10 stable prior to restoring my cm10 backup. It still fails and now I don't know what to do next. Any advice is welcome!
EDIT1: BTW: I need to restore my CM10 to remove my 4*4 pattern... when installing CM10.1, 3*3 pattern must be entered, which I don't know, so I cannot unlock my own phone... :/
EDIT2: Hold on... I did not know about incremental backups and hence I did not copy the blobs folder (within clockworkmod folder)... I will do that now and expect the restore to succeed then.
EDIT3: this works fine, remember to not only copy the folder "backups" but also all the other stuff of the clockworkmod-folder. or make a symlink in /data/media to the old location. works fine.
Changed CWM location

1. Open terminal, become root by using command 'su'.
2. Enter the following command:
cp -Rv /data/media/0/clockworkmod/backup/[backup dir] /data/media/clockworkmod/backup
eg.:
cp -Rv /data/media/0/clockworkmod/backup/2012-12-12.12.00.44 /data/media/clockworkmod/backup
Reboot to recovery and select the 'backup and restore'. Now there will be another entry with your older backup. Restore it. Enjoy!

So im trying to flash a zip in TWRP and I go to where the zip is and it isnt there. So i reboot my phone and its in the folder that i looked at in twrp. So I go back to twrp and see several old files are there that i deleted a long time ago... Its like twrp isnt seeing that i changed anything in my file systems, like its looking at a snapshot from a week ago... I even reinstalled twrp via GooManager and that didnt do anything either.

Well that didn't work anyways :l, and I know it's a problem with TWRP because when I install CWM everything is fine, I just prefer TWRP
Oh okay I figured it out, TWRP is reading all my data from a /sdcard/0 instead of just /sdcard. So how can I change it to read from /sdcard so then I can get rid of /sdcard/0

In TWRP, change the permissions of the '0' folder to 755. Reboot. Move anything you want to keep out of the 0 folder. In Root Explorer, delete the 0 folder. Reboot to recovery. See that everything is back in the /sdcard folder as it should be.
This is the result of having run a 4.2.2 based ROM. Running the file previously pointed to will reset to use /sdcard, but you still have to delete the 0 folder for it to take.

Swap sdcard for samsung s4
Remember to backup first
For tw 4.2.2
and Google S4 4.3
With this mod you will be able to swap your external sdcard and internal sdcard
So all game data will download and save to your external sdcard
Make sure you have busybox installed
Then move zip to sdcard and flash with recovery
Download S4 http://db.tt/q8M99JaI
Download Google S4 https://www.dropbox.com/s/94776a5b5dgfoup/swap-sdcard-gs4.zip
??
Where is the download?
Its ready now
nah
Doesnt work.
