Aosp ROM gaming quality - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I don't know if its just me, but whenever I'm on an aosp ROM most games are really choppy. They just stutter throughout gameplay. Its most noticeable when I play wipeout or any graphically intense game. On touchwiz my games are extremely smooth. Over clocking doesn't make a difference either. Anybody else?

Lag while playing my favorite game

Does anyone else play Home Run Battle 2? If so, do you notice any lag? Sometimes the game will play smooth but other times, it lags so bad that sometimes you can't even play it. Is anyone noticing lag in any other game or this game?

Dude yes! I notice it with temple run and it sux because this phone is powerful. I just hope its the app/game not being optimized yet
I feel your pain man with restaurant story all TW ROMs lag in these type of games even OC to 1.8ghz when I go to a CM9 or CM10 jellybean type ROM they work perfectly fine smooth and with my G2 games ran smooth as well not sure what's the deal here. I'm on AOKP based of CM10 and they work fine but I sure do miss TW.

I suppose this sounds like a software problem which sucks. If the games are running fine on different roms then it looks like the hardware is obviously powerful enough. I hope this issue gets fixed quickly.

I think it's app related. On my HTC One S playing temple run I would get lag and it would be bad enough for me to miss a jump, slide show and die. I get is far less on the gs3 but it's still a bit noticeable.

Gaming Tweaks

So I have been trying to play GTA III lately. I notice some lag in my play sometimes it will completely STOP until it catches up. It's quite annoying. Now I would think that our SII could handle such a task. I have it over clocked with SetCPU. I have it in airplane mode. And clear other apps out of memory before I start playing. Are there any other gaming tweaks / mods I could utilize I'm not aware of. I've run other games like Dead Trigger, BIA 2, Skies of Glory with no issue. This just lags and sticks ALOT.. Thanks!

Gta doesn't lag at all on my phone. My boys play it all day maybe you need some int.d tweaks or build prop tweaks to make it run better for you.

Same here. Always lags (and not playable at all) when play those big game; Subway Surfer, Dead Space, Shadowgun etc.
I gave up already. Just play some lightweight (but awesome) games like Inotia3 and Samurai II Vengeance.
Same here. Very laggy. I'm on AOKP 17.9 of iatillagy's. Any tweaks? Will using adrenaline or geeky engine improve?

Have you all try clearing ram before playing some heavy games? Or close some unused background apps?

Yes. I've cleared the RAM before running the heavy games.Same goes to background apps, I've closed all the memory hunger apps like FB. But still no luck for me.
I dont understand whats wrong. We have a same device and same ROM (yes, I tried with stock, cm9b3, cm10a2, bioniccow2 etc), with and without tweaks, but everyone got a different experiences when it comes to gaming. Weird.
before some update I could play subway surfers without any lag, but since the haloween update (I guess, I'am not sure) its very laggy. so its not the hardware, they distroy just the performance with a ****ty update.
Hmm.. I use the forvivo's kernel and it seems working flawlessly till now.

Using the newest ParanoidAndroid JB 2.+, without MOD, Script, or anything. It runs smoothly.
(and when I say that, yes. It has NO LAG, along with Temple Run)

I'm using ParanoidAndroid JB 2 and it work perfectly on it
So I see that's the problem here is the ROM... I'm using the stock ROM, yet.
I've already tried to clean memory before playing, but it works just for the time of one single run, after some time it begins to become laggy again.
And now, after you all said, I'm considering moving to CM10, what do ya think?
Thanks for the replies! :good:

Overclocking Tips..

Could any one explain about oveclocking in DINC 2... I am using Chilly's rom. When I am playing some games with fast moment like temple run, subway surfer and so on... it was not good and a millisecond stuck makes a big bang on the play time... any one please help me and guide me how to make the settings for overclocking...
If you are using Chilly's ROMs, check the performance section in the system settings. You can set the processor max speed as well as governors, etc. Remember though that overclocking will impact battery life
