Hey dudes, I'm having a really bad performance in Subway Surfers on my cellphone, i'd like to know if this is happening only on my phone or is there anybody else experiencing this too?
I see many phones equal or lower in hardware executing this game pretty good...
Thanks dudes!
(sorry about my english, and in case that I posted in the wrong place, plase sorry I'm knew here)
What ROM are you using?
Sent from my GT-I8150 using xda premium
i'm not playing subway surfers, but i check out in the play store. its just 2D game, it should be smooth for thr graphics. but i see it require full internet access? maybe the problem is on yours internet quality.CMIIW
Subway surfers i think is a 3d games not 2d. CMIIW

Same
Same goes to mine, had to use chainfire 3d,but that makes it abit smoother..not much
Same here. Always lags (and not playable at all) when play those big game; Subway Surfer, Dead Space, Shadowgun etc.
I gave up already. Just play some lightweight (but awesome) games like Inotia3 and Samurai II Vengeance.
Same here. Very laggy. I'm on AOKP 17.9 of iatillagy's. Any tweaks? Will using adrenaline or geeky engine improve?

Have you all try clearing ram before playing some heavy games? Or close some unused background apps?

Yes. I've cleared the RAM before running the heavy games.Same goes to background apps, I've closed all the memory hunger apps like FB. But still no luck for me.
I dont understand whats wrong. We have a same device and same ROM (yes, I tried with stock, cm9b3, cm10a2, bioniccow2 etc), with and without tweaks, but everyone got a different experiences when it comes to gaming. Weird.
before some update I could play subway surfers without any lag, but since the haloween update (I guess, I'am not sure) its very laggy. so its not the hardware, they distroy just the performance with a ****ty update.
Hmm.. I use the forvivo's kernel and it seems working flawlessly till now.

Played games with Mutant rom and chainfire. Subway surfer works with no/minimal lag

Using the newest ParanoidAndroid JB 2.+, without MOD, Script, or anything. It runs smoothly.
(and when I say that, yes. It has NO LAG, along with Temple Run)

I am using CM10 Alpha2 by arco without any tweak or MODs and it works smoothly.
note: for high performance with this game i change the governor to Performance with cfq I/o
write sirmate
I'm using ParanoidAndroid JB 2 and it work perfectly on it
So I see that's the problem here is the ROM... I'm using the stock ROM, yet.
I've already tried to clean memory before playing, but it works just for the time of one single run, after some time it begins to become laggy again.
And now, after you all said, I'm considering moving to CM10, what do ya think?
Thanks for the replies! :good:

I have been trying to get dead space to work since i upgraded to gingerbread...it only worked on froyo for powervr (at least for me lol) because it always froze the phone or crashed...i tried the new version and it runs perfectly on my epic with cm7...thanks CM7 team..
p.s. off topic, there is a street fighter IV game for android floating around the internet and I think it awesome..
so how is it CM7 gets Dead Space and GTA3 to run? Can these games run on other ROMs?

I' m not sure, deadspace always forced closed on me on the normal gingerbread and froze on cm7 but ea recently updated the deadspace game and rockstar updated the gta3 game for powervr phones (samsung and some motorolla phones), try the new versions of the apps and see if works for you..what rom are you on?
p.s. I have been running cm7 since november so I am not sure about other roms
iv been switching back and forth between Marcusants and CM7, mainly because I want to see how the CM7 holds up. Found out Marcus's ROM has way superior battery life and im sticking with that. I read somewhere that if you get it to play on CM7 then back it up you can restore it to any other ROM. Might try that out.
Edit: I just successfully installed GTA3 on Marcusants ROM. Just had to wait while the content was downloaded, make sure you let it do its thing when its downloading at 100%, DO NOT CANCEL and it should install fine

Right. And on cm7 I don't have to OC cpu or gpu or run any plugins or reduce quality. GTA III, Dead Space, ShadowGun, MC3, everything runs super smooth. God I love cm7.

My experience has been that Shadowgun and Dead Space both drop frames all over the place regardless of what rom I run. With a lot if onscreen action they both become slideshows. I'm on CM7 and it is not any better. Maybe 15 fps is acceptable for a phone game though.

Running Marcusant v.1 bml - both those titles are perfectly smooth, given that I set the cpu governor to lock @ 1200mhz. DON'T USE PERFORMANCE GOVERNOR. It can drop and lock @ 800 or 400. Just keep it on ondemand ans set min and max the same. ;-)
also on earthbound's 3.3.0 250MHz/60Hz

Hi everyone and thanks for finding the time to read this thread.
GTA 3 does not work on my SGW (Meh...)
I tried with stock ROM, but it crashes after 30seconds of gameplay.
Now I flashed Cow Rom v7, wiping my mobile from all datas.
I have more RAM free but the game crashes, making crash also my OS so I have to take out battery.
Tried also with zram, without luck.
So, OCing to 1.6 or 1.8 GHz maybe could be the answer... right?
What do you suggest?

OC for playing game is not recommended in my opinion. It has the possibility of overloading your processor and the excessive heat created may burn it. Do at ur own risk.
I never had an issues playin it. I used Ram Manager Pro and it has a hard gaming setting on it. It plays well on the phone.
Also keep the cover off the back of it if your playin will help the heat escape...

Tried, it crashed, didn't enjoy.
Any other method?
(I have only a few apps installed)
I installed an 1.0 version of GTA3, and it works fine without OC.

Hi y'all. I'm a noob. PC gaming is easy enough to understand when it comes to system requirements, but I can't figure out when a game will lag or not for our beloved W until I install it or try it. Is there an easy way to know? How does our phone stack up to the big boys when it comes to gaming?
I bought this phone for its nice processor speed hoping it would be good for games. So far I've been slightly disappointed. 3D games have been laggy. I'm using CM9 a8.
Thanks in advance for any replies!

our device isnt for gaming. it just has an adreno 205 gpu, which was released in 2010. its very old and not good for real 3d games.
But I dont know where you can see if you can run a game or not. but some games has in the description, which devices are supported.

supercharger is a ram fix, which gives you better multitasking and avoid launcher-restarts. I dunno if it makes a difference in games, I guess not.
chain fire optimize the game and your driver.
game booster disable some background proceses and gave the game the most cpu+gpu priority. but it also do something on the ram settings. dunno if its good to run v6 and game booster.

It works. I already tried it in cm9 based rom. I used indroid remics and it helps me a lot. When i'm playing hd games the graphics only shows white screen
. So i use chainfire and there it is working smooth with no problem.

I try those 2 together but it seems no problem though. In my opinion v6 is used for multitasking in daily use didn't affect for playing games i guess. But game booster increases performance for gaming only.

install sd-booster (free from google play) games are much smoother after using it.
I garantuee, that none of the mentioned tweaks will help you
Game performance is not limited by SD-card performance nor by some secret setting, which gets enabled by Tweaks or something.
Chainfire was discontinued a long time ago, and i guess it does not even work / have an effect under ICS.
Simply, get a clean ROM like CM9, this brings you the latest drivers, end especially a clean basis with stable memory setting etc.
Also consider enabling Kernel Samepage Merging and a BigMem-Kernel, uninstall snakeoil-tools that run in the background.
Thats it.

I think CM10 will always have less gaming performance than CM9 because on jb v-sync and triple buffering are always active and they use gpu resources.

I wanted to express, that running a bunch of applications in the background does not help with performance.
Although theryre killed sooner or later, some tools (meant for tuning, energy savings..) may stay in memory.
The term "snake-oil" means the believe in something that claims to do miracles, but in reality cannot hold their promise

Naturally it does, but mostly while loading and not during actual gameplay.
I assume, some resource-intensive games stream data from sd card while playing, but this should not be a problem with a normal sd card.
Even if so, it would only remove little hangs, but not increase framerate in a narrower sense.
