So I have been trying to play GTA III lately. I notice some lag in my play sometimes it will completely STOP until it catches up. It's quite annoying. Now I would think that our SII could handle such a task. I have it over clocked with SetCPU. I have it in airplane mode. And clear other apps out of memory before I start playing. Are there any other gaming tweaks / mods I could utilize I'm not aware of. I've run other games like Dead Trigger, BIA 2, Skies of Glory with no issue. This just lags and sticks ALOT.. Thanks!

What ROM or kernel? Also, if you had the game, then clean flashed, it might not delete the extra game files you downloaded. This causes issues with the game when you reinstall. Try deleting the app, reinstalling clean, and redownloading the files.

I'm running the legendary Darkside Evolution version 8 with TDJ'S kernel. (Should have included this duh ) I've never flashed over this game. First time install. Thanks for the input!

I'm on Paranoid Android and not overclocking and I've played GTA3 for hours today with not one hiccup. It's awesome. With CM10 and other Roms I've used, different kernels and overclocking it worked great but it had it's occasional lag.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2
I think that if you were running TDJ's rom/kernel, it would be sufficient to run GTA 3 smoothly. However, still try different rom/kernel combos.
Last time I was playing GTA 3 was when I had AOKP ICS MS4/TDJ's AOKP kernel and i never lagged.
***Also, try switching governors/schedulers to Smartassv2/sio. or to go even extreme performance/sio and see if it still lags. And play around with different combos.
The thing is that he has the best possible ROM to play this game on. TDJs kernel actually has the GPU overclocked. There's something screwing up your installation. If I were you I'd titanium back up your apps and make a clean reinstall of your evo 8 installation. I guarantee you that would fix it.

Thanks for all the help! I'll look into doing these. I used an Aroma installer call. "pimp my rom", maybe it made modifications to TDJ'S Rom in the negative...

sorry should've given you a link

Gaming performance has increased for me and my users a lot after flashing this. It also comes with a bunch of other tweaks to. I use it in my Rom
So, is there a lot of difference in this and the pimp my rom mod? Just curious. And also should I perform a fresh flash before I install this rather than installing it on top of the pimp my rom mod?

Nope my rom uses both. When you flash the supremacy script it deletes any tweaks from pimp my rom that might interfere with its own.
So you don't have to "de-pimp" your rom.
Just on off topic question. When I play GTA, I use tilt mode, but it always swerves to the right, and when I put my phone straight up, it turns straight. I was wondering if anyone has a solution to this? I'm sure many people have experienced it and I haven't found a solution through Google search. MIUI 4.1 with h0tcakez 2.3.3.

this is app for overclock cpu, but you must have custom kernel...
long and complicated story for you... is not for the beginners
And i'm afraid to try it myself .. Maby it break the phone .. As u can see the home screen of it !!

Is it Q n A section?????
you can try it, you will not damage the phone...
now you can only select max freq 1024MHz... for real overclock you need custom kernel and then you can choose a higher frequency

You have to root your phone to use no frills. Look in General Discussions section to see how to root your phone or Google it

Its a potential battery saver if u use it to UC your CPU and can be a great battery drainer if u choose to OC your CPU.. For me, its useful..

"No-frills cpu" what is that app ?? >> Overclocking Tools (ain't that obvious )
Is it useful ?? >> Depends... do u still need more cpu clock (which consume more battery, etc) , or satisfied with current clock.
So how to use it ?? >> Just change the clock, it just that simple. (but of course, u need, kernel that support it).
*Before u do overclocking, google it about "governors' and 'IO' first....
This thread needs to go to questions.

it`s absolutely vital to the phone, is one of the main cores of the android system.. i cant recall exactly what is doing tho, but i remember that you cant disable, or anything like that.. from what i have read other ppls using different roms seem to have the same problem with netd eating up the cpu, and some of them said that it was somewhat related to some specific governors...so try to switch from whatever governor you are now to a different one and see if it helps
the thing is, that the lib isnt needed for gio/ace/mini/fit ...
Maybe the try to load it makes more ram consumption, but it can be easy disabled in source

It has something to do with the wifi interface. I had netd-hangs everytime I had wifi & 3G on while no known wifi network was around me. Since I'm disabling wifi when I leave home, I didn't had any hangs anymore. Changing governor doesn't help, tested by myself.

ROM
A better option would be to take stock CM7.2 rom, and futher debloating it, then use Swapper 2 to swap, and Overclock to 729MHz and set governer to SmartASSV2. That should take care of all your lags, and yeah, Chainfire definately helps when used with the plugins.
BTW, V6 Supercharger or Adrenaline Mod should speed things up a lot... I get close to 20 Hrs of usage on a single charge.. With 3G always on.
Edit PAC Performance app is now on play storie
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pacman.performance
To update it from here you have to remove PAC performance from system app and reboot. Then install from play store.
Install as normal apk
Needs root.
It's extracted from PAC ROM but working good on other ROM.
With this you can disable second core but you have to set a single core governor for it to stick (ondemand, interactive)
Link :
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/w8sohsga7wsli2c/AADLDtFwGxuxWCIVFFHfzLwqa/PACPerformance.apk
P.S Disabling second core brought me an huge increase in battery life!!
before it was lasting for 10-12 hours with this ( not running on heavy usage or it would kill performance),
and now it can lasts a day (like in cm10.2 by maclaw) but I use phone a lot (3G, camera, calls, sms etc)
