Anyone working on any ports or had the nerve to try flashing an A500 from after unlock?
Sent from my XT912 using Tapatalk
This is a discussion that I think we should have. However, I think that trying ROMs from A500 is not going to work, the first problem you will face is the screen resolution, and then the fact that whilst the hardware is similiar but not identical.
I think the best thing to do would be to start off with a ROM built around the Stock ICS Leak, much like Vache (who would be of great help) has done with latest releases of his Taboonay ROM.
I looked into creating a ROM earlier and I really couldn't find a lot of info on generics, I guess that alot of trial and error will have to happen here
I have successfully ported grezzaarom-9001.zip from the a200 and installed it through cwm it works great!
But what the hell is up with the touch screen it has some kind of finger tracking mouse thing ... not a great addition to the rom if you ask me. Anyway I will find a way to upload it.

How on earth did you manage that? I assume you'd lose all camera function at the rear, if you have a drop box you can upload it and share with that. I tried to build a tweaked rom from the stock 009 build using the dsidxa kitchen, didn't want to work at all, clockwork wouldn't install it.
I'm going to compare what vache has done to the stock a500 rom for Taboonay and see if I can mirror it with an a100 rom.

here it is and i have installed it i just hate that track mouse thing lol other than that you can test it if you like http://www.filedropper.com/grezzaarom-9001a100
You should be able to turn off the touch tracking under settings> developer options. At least that's where I've seen it on the phones ics roms

I guess this rom is a joke right?
can not do anything
It is interesting, so what do you gain by intsaling this rom a par form the ICS? and what is disabled?
Clockworkmod is great! Glad we finally got it on our A100's! i have made my first full backup and went ahead and have been installing different a500/a200 roms!
The best one so far is Icylicious A500 rom! Its soooo smooth ( or its my imagination )! Plus it changes the task bar icons abit ( the up arrow is now a icon of a house )
I like the looks and feel of this rom...even though its not complete.
The only way i could get any of these roms to work was to install the zip through clockworkmod recovery. After that the tab won't boot, so i go back into recovery and goto advanced restore. i select my restore file and only restore the boot partition.
But i still got all the apps that come bundled with the roms and some of the tweaks. My antutu benchmark scores have even improved slighty.
The one neat thing is it shows in my tablet info that my image version is: Acer_AV041_A500_RV16RB02_WW_GEN1
and my build is:
KJY2010 Icylicious
Still can't overclock though....oh well!
so in all....
Thanks guys for all the hardwork and commitment to this awesome tab and getting clockworkmod working!!!

So I make a backup, install taboonay, restore boot, and it still doesn't boot.
Fing, cwm won't restore backup, dead tablet. EDIT: After getting CWM to show me the log about ten times I'm informed of an md5 mismatch (****tiest error heard in my life) Anybody know if flashing an update.zip of the latest ICS will destroy my tab? I can re-root etc from that.

I attempted to flash AOKP A500 and then restored the boot partition with no success. I am checking out Icylicious right now though.
Edit: Icylicious as everyone has said works and I was also able to flash Taboonay with no problem. I'm pretty bored so I will keep testing new roms in case this is helping anyone.
Wow, I started on a rom last night and worked on it a few hours early this morning and when I got home a minute ago I see that all of the a500 roms are working on the a100....that is really wonderful! I have read through this thread... but would someone mind giving just a quick howto for a successful flash of an a500 rom....just the basics so i don't have to spend the next 2 hours re-installing....lol. Thanks so much guys!
Not ALL A500 roms will work.. AOKP does not...make nandroid of current rom... Boot into CWM wipe data/cache/dalvik/system. .. Flash rom and gapps if needed and do advance restore from original Android and restore boot partition... viola

All roms A500 to and serve only to remove some files from the zip as boot.img, hboot.img, especially after itsmagic to do root for A100 and rename the A100 buil.pro for me this is the I better stop going http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517181. zip file like this:
Until the bootloader is unlocked. Attached is some mods to improve upon Jellybean.
Also, I urge people to bring any modifications(or test yourself) some of the mods in the Nexus 4 section that I can hopefully start transposing onto the LG Optimus Jellybean. I suggest if you're unsure if a mod will work. Ask me first, it's better to ask than brick your phone.
I'll make flashable zips and incorporate into lifeless eventually.
thermald-8064.conf
- Download file (this is NOT flashable)
- Extract the file
- Replace the extracted file with the same file in System/etc (Using Root Explorer or similiar)
- This improves the overheating issue based on the modified stock thermaconfig from ICS
Camera-Mod by _EPIC
- Same exact directions as above
- Excep replace the media_profiles with the media_profiles file attached.
More to come
Seems to be working thanks!

Wifi Teather Root
Hello,
Hope this is the right forum, just recently updated to jelly bean LS970ZVB from this forum. Was able to retain root access; however lost my ability to use Wifi Tether for Root Users. Evidently FreeGee hasn't came up with a way to unlock the bootloader just yet after the update. Is there a way with this update to utilize free WIFI wireless tethering. I've looked around everywhere, and nothing has seemed to work. I have all green check marks on the log within the application. Please help!!!!:confused.
Maybe Sqlite will work with forcing entitlement changes; however , cant find this either.

Adri, the bootloader is unlocked, but the boot image that freegee has is for ics and therefore won't boot. If you just flash the recovery and aboot, you are unlocked, but can't debloat since the security error is fixed with the custom boot image. We haven't figured out how to fix it on jb hence the delay.

This one sounded interesting. Wonder if there's a similar mod that would work for us:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028289
It changes the synaptic driver out to increase touch screen responsiveness.
Nothing else really comes to mind though.
There's a virtual CD ROM mod I saw floating around, but I would have to find it again.

thanks
Always look forward to you and Epics stuff.

Thanks! Did the job perfectly. As for the recovery, it rivals TWRP and has all of the features (even multi file flashing). The only thing missing is themes...unless I missed it, but good job! I recommend it, if people want the CWM experience, with TWRP's features.

They need to be in a separate folder. The idea is to avoid errors and usually, multi zip is used with same sequence files you can classify in subfolders

Well you might want to hang on to it for a few days and try out the new builds I have going. With some help from sleshepic I am now on a roll and pumping out a few new things. This one (mahdi) is fully working and I am building a fully working beanstalk atm. Then on to Chaos and then baked KK.
Also unlike most 4.4 KK roms this one (mahdi) has a much louder speaker volume both external and on calls. I am trying to find the exactly what the modifications are so I can add them into all my builds. That way users wont need any add-ons to boost the volume.
Jlmancuso I found the ROM but which gapps should I use? Just want to make sure I use the right one

I will link a few a 4.4 core gapps along with slims gapps. Although any current 4.4 version should be fine.
Does this one has BT working for music call and car?
I don't have that Philz version which may break some ROM if not follow new chats from Philz.

Dont have any bluetooth besides another phone so I am not sure. It will do beam which uses nfc and bluetooth transfer so that is all I can say. I do have another user testing those features atm but could use another.
I am posting link in OP to philz goo.im downloads. It will take you directly to our device so there will be no confusion in that area. All his builds will work with 4.4 but only 6.07.09 will work with all android versions.

I'm assuming this is AOSP since people are mentioning GAPPS packages, but I've never heard of this ROM, what's it's unique features compared to let's say AOKP, PACman, Carbon, etc? Just curious

This ROM is nice and fast I've been rocking with it all afternoon my only issue is the camera doesn't work, I've loaded a couple of camera apps from the play store and they don't work either. Bummer.

Something in the source is broken. Tomorrow I will be digging into this and beanstalk. The thing is when working for current sources they are not always 100% usable. Until a stable release is made everything is like a nightly. Things get changed and some changes are not complete. I just have to mix and match different sources or fix the code myself. Since I am just a novice it takes me longer.
You might want to try my ose build. It looks to be fairly bug free so far.
