According to the post on Engadget, the galaxy nexus might possibly be coming to sprint and having lte. If it does and my area has lte I'm getting it!!!

I suspect it will be announce at CES, with a useless 4g chip until the end of the year. It was an official sprint ad.

But my other question, and I know we won't know until the full specs at released, but do you think it would have Wimax and lte or just lte? Similar to how AT&Ts lte phones have lte and hspa+

Wimax is frequently built right into the wifi chip, so it is possible, but I doubt it. It would be inelegant to have 3g, Wimax, and lte. Most likely will be 3g and lte.

So my phone has no problem connecting to edge and 4g, but i can never get it
to connect to 3G, is their a mod or app that can fix that?
The only way you will see a 3G icon is if your area has PCS HSPA and your phone connects to it. Otherwise it's just 2G/4G
4g is 3g.

Yup 4g on stock gs3 is hspa+, hspa and umts(3g),that's how tmobile have it

Am I the only one wondering why tc would want to connect to 3G?
Is 4g logo for connection speed is the highest connection speed or is 4g + or 4h logo for higher connection speed I'm not getting ? I'm in Houston ,tx .what's everyone else getting in this area ?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
So far I think T-Mobile only uses 2 logos. Either edge or 4G. 3G is also 4G in their dictionary.

Then how do we know we are on hsps if we only see 4g? This is horse cocky lol:what:

If you see 4G then you're on HSPA+ network. If you see Edge (E) then you're on their 2G network.

No. But it's a good speed.
You can check by going into settings, about phone, status and see what network type says.

Example
Correct. Not LTE, but fair speed for H+, arguably slightly faster than the typical 3G. You're getting the speed I used to get when I was on my SGSII (non-skyrocket) until I upgraded to the SGN2 with LTE here in San Diego.
Thanks. Its says im running LTE:14. So I guess the question now is why am I not getting lte speeds!?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda app-developers app
Just ran another test, slightly faster speeds but you can see in the status bar it says 4g instead of h+.
Im running jellythunder perfect storm..which I thought h+ meant lte.
Ideas?

Ok. Than u are getting LTE. The rom u have just isn't showing show in your status bar.
Did u flash an international theme or something that may have caused this?

4G=LTE
H, H+ = HSPA (3.5G)
3G = UMTS
This means that when you are in LTE you won't see the LTE symbol but instead 4G.
Depending on the rom u are using of course. In order verify that your ROM is actually using LTE go System Settings --> About Device --> Status. Look under Mobile Network Type.

I am in a lte area and my status bar now says 4g which means lte. What are normal lte speeds? My last post was the speed test on the lte...that normal?
Thanks again!

No, this is what it would look like. Look in between the alarm clock and the signal strength meter.

LTE = faux G as far as I am concerned.
AT&T is still on 3G .. its just 3G+. According to what I have read, LTE (and WiMax) was originally a "transitional technology." Then it was upped to 4G and HSPA+ is now a a transitional tech. Then some1 dumped a lot of money into an offshore account and transitional tech is 4G.
Cue the nerd rage at this point.
LTE Advanced (as well as WiMax v2 or whatever they were going to call it.) are 4G. These are some way away. With big V saying LTE deployment going into 2015, one could guess we won't see "pure" 4G until almost 2020.
Edit: LTE is 100Mb/s down AND up. LTE adv is basically gigabit. As far as the original spec, 4G = gigabit. So .. we aren't quite there yet.

You have me Lmao.... Don't sweat it, I did another speed test and it went down to 44Mbs.

Hahaha wish we had that here 8mg down is fastest ive seen lol :beer::beer:

Well, the symbol at the top left says H+. So, no that not LTE, if it where it would say 4G.
But if its an international port than it says 4g, jedi states so in first post

haha .. nothing like downloading (theoretically) a DVD iso in under a minute.
I'd rather have the lower ping time and the lower bandwidth connection than the higher ping time and larger bandwidth connection.
The fact that your ping is so low makes me believe that you might be on LTE. But it could be an excellent 3G connection or whatever ATT likes to call it to make themselves feel superior. I've seen speeds that low however for LTE when the signal isn't very strong.
i just got my Gnex...is there a way to turn off 4G ??...i dont see anything in the settings
That is because it is called 3g.
You want to check 2g under mobile network settings.

thanks...so that will allow me to use only 2/3G not HSPA+ all the time...im using the phone on AT&T if that makes a difference

HSPA+ is an enhanced form of 3g. If you check to use 2g, that is what AT&T calls Edge service.

ok...thanks!...
Lol the 9250 doesn't have a 4g modem even though t-mobile & at&t market HSPA+ as 4G. 3G and HSPA are the same tech.
