[Q] Help. White HTC screen with red warning message

I'd like to start out by saying I'm not a noob. Ive flashed and rooted other phones before. Every time I try to flash a custom recovery on my HTC One V, I get the white htc page with a paragraph in red letters. I unlocked the bootloader first and followed all the proper directions in order to flash the custom recovery. I can get rooted no problem, but when I try to flash a custom recovery I get that white screen with red lettering no matter what I do. What the heck is the problem???? I just bought the one v 4 weeks ago and it came with android 4.0.3.
You're stuck on those screen or that message pisses you off? If it's the second variant, U can't do anything :/
Its normal...
as long as you can boot into the UI, its ok...
and btw, wrong thread..

Ok, I cant do anything about that screen popping up I understand that but what Im saying is when Im done flashing the recovery, and when I try to get into the custom recovery that I just flashed all i get is that white screen with red letters. It just sits there...nothing happens.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
you need to rename whatever the boot image was called to recovery.img (check it's not recovery.img.img)
??
Everything on the phone works fine except the recovery. I cant access the recovery is what im saying.

Im starting to think that this phone cant have custom recovery on it. If some one wants to prove me wrong then show me.
Please ask all questions in Q&A. Thread moved there.
i meant to say recovery.img not boot.img
I had this issue. What custom recovery are you trying to flash. Certain versions of cwm and twrp arnt supported for the CDMA primoc version. Cwm 5.8 and twrp2 are the only ones I know of. I like twrp2 because its a touch ui.

Do you have a PrimoU (GSM) or PrimoC (CDMA)? You need to flash the right image. Flashing a recovery for PrimoC on a PrimoU won't work.

[Q] I did a really stupid thing (Formatted HTC One X ... completely)

So yeah ... Hi
Yesterday evening I decided that I was sick of HTC Sense and wanted to unlock my bootloader, root my HTC One X and install cyanogenmod.
When I got, what appeared to be a bootloop, I panicked and did something really stupid. I kinda decided that it was a good idea to go into my ClockworkMod Recovery and formatted everything, including data and system.
Now I can't do anything with my phone of course. Also there appears to be no way to access the SD card inside and I can't take it out.
I have no recoveries or backup's and my laptop does not detect my phone at all.
Please help me, I would like to get my phone fixed as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance
If you have the latest version of Clockworkmod just go to 'mounts and storage' and mount usb storage. Afterwards, copy your ROM zip onto the sdcard

You need to look in the search for one x one click tool (there are others) and use that. There will be instructions on the thread though it's pretty self explanatory. Don't panic your phone will be fine but I'd turn it off as you read or you will cause yourself more hassle. Im typing this as I walk so can't be more helpful.

Download this recovery
http://db.tt/Krlm4dPs
Rename it to recovery.img and copy it to the fastboot folder on the pc, now put the phone in fastboot usb mode (hold power and volume down button until it restarts into the bootloader)
Flash it with fastboot
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Fastboot erase cache
Then enter recovery and mount the sdcard as usb drive and copy the Rom.zip over. Boot back into bootloader with this command
Adb reboot bootloader
Flash the boot.img from the rom.zip from fastboot (copy it from the rom.zip to the fastboot folder on pc, just like the recovery)
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Enter recovery and do a full wipe and install the rom.zip from the menu "install zip from sdcard"
Should do it !
Ok, thanks for all the great info guys. Because of you I am now able to connect my phone to my pc however I installed cyanogenmod 10 and somehow it flashed the boot.img and it still does not boot. The only thing I get to see is the HTC screen and that is what it stays on. Does anyone have any more tips to solve this and let me boot into my cyanogenmod?

hmmm.... no... i mean if he had like an 1.12 version he can't install JB roms untill he updates to 1.3x HBOOT or will happen what happen to him - he will stuck on the boot... am i wrong?
That only applies to Sense ROMs.
On CM10 and some other AOSP roms it's the other way around: they only run on older hboots and updating hboot results in bootloop.
It can be fixed though, but we need his hboot version.

Like I said, it can be fixed. You only have to flash a kernel which is modified to work with newer hboots. It is is post 9308 in CM10 thread. And fyi: GPS is not functional on this kernel.

[Q] Finally took the plunge and rooted it, but can't do anything else?

Finally rooted the phone today, but when I try to go into an alternate recovery, or install a ROM (which I've never done before) the phone reboots (like it should I'm assuming) begins to load what I told it to do, and then I get an image of my phone with a red question mark above it, and my phone just reboots again.
What's causing this?

How are you flashing the recovery. The description you are describing is the stock recovery to flash a new recovery do it in fastboot (fastboot flash recovery name of recovery here)
Get the all in one tool from the dev section and it will do it for you.
All you need to do is choose which one you want CDMA or gsm, twrp or cwm (i prefer twrp for the one v)

'Ok the All in one tool worked. I flashed TWRP, wiped my caches and installed AOKP JB 4.1.2, i've got the "Initiating swagger" screen, how long should this take? It's been about 10 minutes...
So as far as i can tell, the rom install failed because i didnt complete the wipe (because the wipe through TWRP failed...) what causes this?
It will say it failed because the sd-ext didn't wipe (THAT'S A GOOD THING) the /sd-ext is your SD card lol. So did you get into the actual ROM for aokp? So when you clicked swaggerfy it froze? Hmm I'd try a different ROM or different kernel what kernel are u using. I reccomend Jan 3rd super slick (anything newer breaks the camera).
Edit: i noticed you said caches? Do did you click factory reset? I usually do factory and dalvik but i think factory does it all.

I hope I get a fairly quick response to this Followed some advide in that thread, flashed a kernel (I thought) using the All In One Tool, ever since, I've been stuck in a bootloop. Obviously I have access to my bootloader and TWRP (thankfully). My recovery backup returns the same results though.
Im new to this so I'll try toprovide all the info I can.
Followed the TUT on how to Unlock Bootloader and Root 2 days ago.
Yesterday, using the All In One tool, flashed TWRP onto phone.
Was unable to Flash AOKP JellyBean 4.1.2 so I asked for help again (ROM was flashed, but stuck on Initiating Swagger Boot)
Tried using All-In-One to flash (what I thought was) a kernel, since then, my phone just boots continuously or not at all (depending on if I wipe or whatnot)
While at work, I was able to Flash the AOKP rom and Boot into it, but after about 1 minute of use, it reboots.
This is where I'm at now.
My bootloader says
***UNLOCKED***
PRIMOC PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT- 1.57.0000
RADIO- 1.00.05.0929
eMMC-boot
Jun 18 2012, 10:22:43
I'm using the latest version (2.3.3.) of TWRP
Is there anyway I can find, and delete, the boot.img I flashed with All-In-One, that caused this bootloop?
Found out why: radio is the new version aka .0928
HTC provided a new radio release and it screwed up being able to flash new JB roms. The fixable solution is to find the virgin mobile ruu exe and do that long process to get the old radio: .0521_2(?) back. I'll link you to the ruu thread in a sec let me find it first

Please help me with my HTC desire HD not booting

Well hello guys, first let me explain what happend.
Last sunday i rooted my HTC Desire HD and everything went well. First I installed the latest miui rom with desire hd support from miuiandroid.com . But then i heard more about jelly bean roms and today installed codefireX's R19 version of his rom. But when i found out that it did not work with whatsapp I decided to change back to miui. Since i had made a nandroid backup of MIUI I thought i could use that. And this is where the problems started appearing. I hit the restore button in my recovery and the restore was succesfull, but when it rebooted nothing happened. I got the HTC logo, but after that I got only a backlit black screen. Wich then went completely black with a little noise comming from my phone After a few seconds it rebooted again and went straight into recovery. I have tried all my nandroid backups, but none worked. I even tried flashing MIUI from scratch, but that only send me into a bootloop in wich i could see the MI logo and then nothing.
So whatever i do, it just wont boot. I can get into recovery and the bootloader, but nothing more. Please help me guys, i searched all over the internet but have not found anything like my problem. Have I broken my phone??:crying:
Hey guys, well after a lot of trying and patience if finaly got my Phone to work again:laugh:. I flashed android revolution and that booted right up. But i still wonder why Clockwork restore didn't work
did you unlock bootloader with the official htc tool? if you did, recovery cant restore your kernel, similar to when you flash a rom. in this case, you should be fine flashing kernel like you do when flashing a rom
if that is not the case, it is probably just a corrupted backup. it does happen sometimes

Is your bootloader unlocked? If so, have you fastboot flashed the boot.img?
Hey th0mas_, well I did use the htcdev way of unlocking my bootloader. So i guess that that is probably the whole problem. But just a noob question, how do i flash a kernel?? Tnx ahead guys, still a bit to anxious to flash a new rom though hahaha.
And to you gray, i just needed to have a lot of patience, after a few minutes of quietly brilliant. It just booted into the setup. But you do have to flash the boot.img first before it will boot.

You've done a full wipe؟؟؟؟
1 - full wipe ( with delvik + cache ) in recovery
2 - install your rom ( if your rom have problem try another rom)
3 - extract boot.img from your rom zip file and copy to fastboot folder
4 - and go to fastboot and type this command :
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot
if again show error try with another rom

[SOLVED] Can't boot to recovery/Stucked in fastboot

Hello guys.. Hopefully someone can help me and I hope I didn't violate any rules of XDA...
Here's my problem.. I tried to reverse my HOX back to stock ROM and followede this tutorial of Hansoon2000 on how to reverse everything and go back to stock (part 3 of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069904 ) when I clicked relock bootloader it shows in command that there was no device found, I closed it then show that my phone already relocked (awesome!!) but my phone didn't reboot normally. It went fastboot mode (white background and three android at the bottom and shows on top RELOCKED).. at this point, I cant go anywhere, I can't boot to recovery, can't turn off. It seems stucked on fastboot...
Any suggestion guys?? Please help me.. My last option would to go HTC repair center and it will cost me a lot.
Ok so you need to download a recovery. (I recommend twrp)
Flash the recovery in fastboot. (White screen your on about, select "Fastboot USB".
Run the command fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
Replace recoveryname with whatever the file is called.
Then, reboot into fastboot and choose recovery.
If all goes well, TWRP/CWM should open.
Since the bootloader is already relocked, a better idea would be to run a RUU. Do
fastboot getvar version-main
Sent from my IceCold One X
He should unlock his phone again before he wants to flash the recovery.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Why do you want to do it the hard way ?
A RUU would be only one download and one double click...
Unlocking again and flashing a recovery and flashing a boot and flashing a stock ROM in recovery would be a pain in the ass and woild take longer !
Just sayin'
@OP
Do
fastboot getvar version-main

Hello guys.. Thank you for all the replies.. I really appreciate those feedbacks..
1. I already have RUU file saved on my computer.. It's .exe, may I know how will I run this file? Since my HOX didn't normally boot and I can't go to recovery mode..
2. I am still trying to download TWRP, for some reason it stucked on 99.9%, I think it's not my luck right now..
My question also about recovery, it shows that my HOX bootloader should be UNLOCKED.. Mine is already relocked, is this still possible?
Again, thank you for all the replies, I'm getting hopes here..
I was just responding to the post before ^^ running the ruu is definitely the better choice
