Have you tried using a different alarm app like alarm clock xtreme or similar... or setting up an event/reminder in calendar using notification sound for a backup?

Make sure you remember to select the days for it to ring.

I have set the alarm correctly... but it's not working though - the strange thing is that when i set it for like 5 minutes for now it's alright, I did the installation with FULL WIPE of cache/data/system so... I'm sure the problem is not from me

Did you notice if it's happening only when on Wifi, or on 4G network also?
I was thinking that maybe it's your Wifi at home that doesn't update the time.

I had a similar thing happen to me. I don't know if we have the same issue, but couldn't figure out what was going on for a while!
Turns out I had "blocking mode" on, and inside one of those settings, the alarm volume was set to mute. Blocking mode was on from 20:00 until 06:00 so when my alarm went off at 05:30, I couldn't hear it because of blocking mode. I just unchecked that box and it works!
Good luck!

[Q] Alarm Clock

First post for me.
I have tried to look for settings that would "fix" this, but havent been able to find anything.
What I am trying to fix, is, When my alarm goes off, it goes off for i guess 2 minutes. Then after that, it does nothing. In the taskbar at the top, I see an icon for the alarm, and it reads:
ALARM
"Alarm silenced after 2 minutes"
This happens even if i do not touch the phone, no snoozing, nothing is done to the phone. It does not keep ringing my alarm. Is this behavior expected?
I tried it multiple times this AM with the same results.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
dd2fourteen
I'm assuming ur on stock 2.1 build. your alarm sucks. 'better alarm' clock goes off for 10 mins I think but still turns itself off. Best alarm I found so far if the stock 2.2 alarm clock. U would probably be better off upgrading to froyo via dk28.I'll c if I can find an apk for you. Can't guarantee it will work on eclair though

IDEA: Make the alarm works with phone off

I found this app https://market.android.com/details?id=eu.chainfire.nomoarpowah
Actually works only for some samsung devices, but the idea is good
Infact the app is able to switch on the phone when the alarms is going to be activated, even if the phone is completely turned off, in order to make it ring..The unique requirements is that the phone is under charging and is rooted of course
I think the same can be applied to our desire as well, because when the charger is connected, the kernel should be loaded, correct me if im wrong
So this mean that we (but not me ) can modify the kernel in order to do a simple thing: it have to check the current time in order to reboot the phone when the time is going to be near to the time set by the stock alarm app (the alarm time is of course written somewhere on the /data partition)
Anyone can say if this can be done through some changes to the kernel?
I know that the solution is to leave the phone on or in airplane mode, but this could be a nice feature for our "old" desire, at least when its charging; but i think that everyone charge it on night and have the alarm set for the morning
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english
Bump! No one have an idea if this can be done?? And no one like this idea?
I thought this already worked.
I was sure my alarm went off on a plane before when the phone was off...

Absolutely not...If ur phone is completely turned off, the phone will remain off forever (even if the alarm is set) untill u turn it on obviuosly
I think I remember my old Samsung dumb phone done that anyway.. if the phone was off the alarm would still sound... maybe it is a Samsung feature? Does the desire have a charging screen when the phone is off?
Edit: desire screen doesn't stay on, Samsung one does (my friends sgs does anyway). Only led on when charging desire...

My SE-P1i (Symbian UIQ 3.0) was working in that way. This is an OS issue as well.

That's correct, but the led color is controlled by the kernel..When chargin is amber, when full charge is green, this mean we can implemnt some logics on the kernel as well..For example we can implement in the kernel something like reboot (turn on) the phone when the alarm is going to ring (reading the setting from the phone file system)

Seems logical and and theoretically would work... however, I know my phone takes a long time to boot... others more, others less, so how long would you be starting the phone before alarm? 15 minutes?

Well, my phone is about standard for the boot time, is about 1 minute (even on stock sense, custom sense roms, aosp roms)..5 minutes before the alarm is enough..But I don't think this is a big problem, even 15 minutes before, just to be sure, it's ok..We just need someone that is able to do the necessary kernel changes (if this is possible; seems strange that no one never implemented this kind of logics when the phone is off under charging)
andQlimax said:
I don't like hibernation mode as is the same as put the phone in airplane mode, the phone remain still on

Quoted from manu kernel thread...
So the actual idea is to make the phone ring.so you don't miss a call? Would the phone not need to be "on" constantly... and if so, why not just leave it on charge overnight? That's what I do?

I was gonna say just leave it on... but yea, boot the phone 5-10 mins (maybe users choice?) before the alarm sounds... I do like it...

It´s interesting to think about this and see if it´s technically possible.
But I don´t get the motivation behind it
Why turn the phone completely off if it´s supposed to hang on the cable anyway? To save the 5-20 mA it uses when in airplane-mode?

The motivation is exactly that, see if it is technically possible..I agree that is not a great advantage having that feature..
Would be nice I think, even nicer if it worked without having it charging.

But the charging is what is keeping the kernel awake... otherwise you nay as have the phone on..

That actually could work only if the hardware will support a sort of "wake up from power off" functionality (our desire hardware support it???)..Like pc and some nokia have..
Alarm and Calendar event reminders goes off after reboot or restart!
I have captivate that runs on Firefly froyo ROM. I have an alarm set in my phone that is supposed to sound every morning. But when I reboot my phone everytime for replacing the spare battery, the alarm is not re activated. In simple works, alarm scheduled to sound everyday does not reactivate itself after reboot. Have to open the alarm, disable it and again enable to reactivate it.
Any solution for this. Also any app that solves the problem? Same thing happens with calendar reminder events. After reboot, the calendar reminder events do not work. HAve to go to the calendar app for it to activate. Any alternate apps for the problem?
I think it must be possible what did my previous phone Nokia 6220 classic had that my newer fella doesn't have it, and that phone could do it. Actually, it turned on a little sooner to ring exactly at the time you've wanted it.
But trust me it isn't that much good you know especially when you don't know there's such a feature. You've turned off your phone and you're sleeping you would kill anyone who dared to wake you up and suddenly a death metal music starts ringing 5:30 in the morning, you got the point :banghead:

Alarm Problems?

Has anyone else had there alarm not to go off then to check the time on the phone and all of sudden it sounds?
This morning I had my alarm set for 8:00am, I roll over and see it is 8:08 on my nightstand clock and think to myself I must of had it set to PM instead of AM. I then reach for my phone hit the power button and the alarm starts ringing. It was like the time didn't update until I hit the power button. Any fix for this or anyone else experience this?
Interesting. A slightly different but probably related event happened for me this morning:
I use my Galaxy Nexus stock alarm to wake up and have every morning I have had the device (about 45 days). No problems whatsoever.
This morning, the alarm goes off for about 2 seconds, I wake up, the alarm has stopped and I reach for the phone and it is in the process of rebooting (the splash screen is running)

I had that same exact experience. Verbatim.
I use two separate devices for alarms...one never knows.
Do any of you guys use any task killer apps?
The alarm on my Gnex is so weirdly unpredictable that I went back to using my old SGS as my alarm clock.
I've tried the standard clock app as well as Kaloer Clock and the alarms on both of them only work about 75% of the time.
This is also the only time I've had a "sleep of death" issue. The phone would often be powered off when I checked it after a missed alarm, or else waiting for me to key in my SIM PIN as though it had rebooted, even though it had been powered on and charging when I went to sleep. This hasn't happened even once since I stopped using the alarms.
So no answers, but I would love to know if this is common and if it's fixable.
BTW, I'm not using task killers or battery boosters, and I'm on stock everything.

Custom sounds won't repeat by default
There's some thread in the forums about ring tones not repeating unless in ogg format with the special ANDROID_LOOP tag set to true...
Are you using a custom, non-repeating alarm sound?
4.04 fixed this for me. I think it has something to do with landscape. Alarm always works. I use it to get up every morning.
Yep, had a similar problem this week
running 4.0.2 stock
not sure why its started happening
My phone was bootlooping this morning too, had to wipe and re flash. Using axiom crossbreed

I've only had my Nexus reboot waiting to decrypt the phone once, making late.. on a side note anyone else find it annoying they placed the snooze button on top of the dismiss button?? My motor skills ain't the greatest when I wake up and stretching to get to my phone.. end up hitting dismiss why couldn't the buttons be located left to right like it use to be.. sigh

Not me- I was trying to use a stock alarm tone. And it worked fine some of the time. The problem is that my boss doesn't think me being on time to work "some of the time" is adequate, so it would be better for me if my alarm is reliable.

s3 alarm not sounding? :/

i'm on stock, unrooted, 4.0.4 (latest ota) and my alarm rarely sounds...
i have no idea what causes it to choose to sound or not, but I find that it becomes less likely to work when there's 2 alarms active.
this has been going on for a couple weeks now (used to work fine), and i woke up an hour late this morning because of it!
i've tried:
- force closing the app
- clearing data
- deleting/re-adding the alarms
- creating the alarm from within the clock app, not directly from the widget
- removing widget from the homescreen (as you can see, i'm getting pretty desperate with this one!)
anyone else experiencing this issue?
edit: could it have anything whatsoever to do with nova launcher? i think this started after switching to nova (i've since switched back to stock touchwiz). the widget didn't come up properly on nova, and I created alarms from the widget. maybe im just being stupid but I NEED this to work again.. looking for suggestions for replacement (free) alarm apps in the meantime.
thanks
no one? this issue hasn't gone away, and apparently i'm not the only one experiencing this. could it possibly be a hardware issue? other people have reported it on cm10 as well.

Can you set ringtones from settings? Maybe it's a media storage issue..? Idk

When you turn this on, by default it will NOT let you hear the alarm.
I turned if off again and alarm works fine!

Phone ALARM doesn't ring in the morning

I have this problem for a while now.. I have tried to reach out to developers by both writing into their threads and also sending them private message, with no result.
I have T-mobile Galaxy Note II on which I had installed:
[ROM] |ROM||AROMA|| Jedi Master 16 || PIE || Per App DPI ||4.1.2|
the problem is that I like the ROM very much.. but when I had the USB plugged into the Computer the phone was freezing up and I had to take it apart to take the battery out in order for me to get it up and running again... and I was informed that I had to install newest Seber Kernel.. which I did.. but now I'm having the same problem that I had with like different ROMS before with the Strange Alarm not going off!
When I set the alarm for example for 5 minutes or half hour from now the ALARM goes off.. but when it has to ring in the morning for like 8 hours from now.. it just doesn't go off.. I don't know if it has something to do with CPU sleeper or whatever the hell there is there but it's very frustrating... please confirm how many people have this problem... also I just wanna mention that I have checked my settings like 100 times and stuff.. everything is setup correctly except that the Stock ALARM doesn't work... for people that will say just install another app from the market I don't wanna do that because I want the STOCK APP (don't like 3rd party apps)...

I had a similar problem set up the alarm clock to go off at 6 am but it never would. Then i realized I had the blocking mode on till 7 am and
it inluded alarm too. So check your block mode as silly as it sounds it might be your problem!
You obviously didn't read the part where you need to increase your min CPU and GPU voltages by 25 mah to stop the freezing problem. Go to the ROMs forum and read the last few posts made by myself and another individual and you will learn this amazingly simple fix to your horrible problem
