Hi guys! I'm using Ehndroix III (JB 4.2.2) right now and i have to tell you that this rom is awesome. Fast, smooth, stable. With latest Skull kernel (1.4) i did not have any issues so far. It is woth trying and if the developers are working on it like it was announced (this is only the first release, already awesome; what will it be when next release comes out??? can't wait to see... ), it can become nr. 1 to me and i think for lots of people. I do not game much, but for daily use, its more than perfect.
I did tried some other roms too, but had with all of them problems altough their developers put admirable efforts in perfecting them.
So i will definitely standing by to find out, what's coming next to this rom.

Yea. A big fan of Ehndroix since i started using the 4.1.2 JB one. Seems nice has custom UI and pretty much alot of good stuff that time. But, i'm waiting for the CM9 EOL release update cos' i feel 4.2.2 is still buggy for me :S . so yea! Hope they update!

I'm not sure wether they will update that rom or not. I threw a look on the official thread here on xda and seemingly people are havig lots of problems with various bugs. I tied this ICS rom once and right after flashing and setting up (by pristine of course) my phone got fc-s on some apps and even restarted suddenly. By the JB one i did not have such problems. The only reason switching to Skull kernel was the WEP issue, but otherways it was ok.
Btw the ICS rom was not updated since 15/11/12. That's a lot of time, but when you want to stick with the ICS one i hope for you that it will be updated soon.
So big fan of Ehndroix too....

I just joined this forum, but as i decided to break up with stock rom, i started to read all i could find about Android and custom roms for our Wonder.
It must be hard to develop a working rom that fully suits your needs. If i had the time, i would try myself to put a rom together, but i think i have still much to learn... and unfortunately not enough time for doing what you and others here do.
But this is a wonderful comunity at xda, where you can find lots of help. Hope that you'll be successful in perfecting your rom. Keep up! Never give up.
I've learned many good things in life, but most precious thought is to never give up when u have a goal. Stick to it, till u finally get the konowledge to make it perfect. Lots of people will appreciate your work.

you should wait and work it off ICS once it arrives.. Seems kinda late in the game to base it off Gingerbread now.. although I am sure it would be nice...
I have been playing with Ravers build he had started but I think it will be better to wait for source.. just my 2 cents worth..

What is currently considered the best 4.2 ROM in terms of features and stability? I'm looking for something in which I will not lose any functionality going from 4.1 (which I'm currently on) to 4.2. I tried checking out all the ASOP ROM threads, but it's a little difficult to get a feeling for what's working and what's not right now..
Thanks for the help. The main reason I'm looking to upgrade up to ASOP/4.2 is for Google Music All Access
In my opinion, Vanilla Root box is the best. It has features from CM10.1, AOKP and Paranoid Android.

Do you experience any issues with it? I was actually about to get that last night but decided against it because I couldn't find some more details about it. Thanks for the response btw.
Spleef's AOKP is fantastic. No real issues at all that I've found and it runs lighting fast.

AOKP or Rootbox are the best at the moment, imo. Ran these the most and had minimal issues.
Rootbox or EOS
Really though, they are all quite stable and I encountered very few issues with any.
If Camera is important to you, however, my experience is that you should stick with something like Lifeless or a Stock ROM.

I agree with the camera part. I'm running beanstalk and it seems just as good as any other aosp ROM I've tried. However they all have the same camera problems. Even with the camera script it just isn't as fast and seems like the focus isn't quite right. Lifeless with epics camera mod is solid for taking great photos. I always keep a lifeless backup just for that reason.

Funny... I was just thinking the same thing. That you as a senior member should know what xda is about and that posting useless comments like the ones you've posted are the ones that get threads closed and not asking about others' opinions and experiences with ROMs they have used. I would say Lifeless Rom. Just got my phone last Thursday, rooted it and put that Rom on there and havent tried any since. Rom is quick, no lag, you can have it as close to stock as you wanna and it even includes Aroma installer which has a ton of apps and tweaks you choose yourself.
Oh and EVERYTHING works! Cam, video, wifif, gps, LTE
its only 4.1.2 but its still good!

Well I've had Vanilla Rootbox on for about a day and have had a couple of issues with it. Like I was rebooting my phone and after it shut off it didn't want to power up again
It took like 5 minutes for my phone to power on again... I was so scared... Then I had some issues trying to place a call. The call would not go through. Had to reboot and again it took a while before I could power it on...
I'll give this a couple more days... if issues continue I'll have to try another ROM.

What you like about jelly Beer?
I had to ditch Rootbox cuz it was too inconsistent. I'd try to make calls and they'd just hang up, people would get multiple of the same text messages, and I could not hang up at times. I'd push the end button and it would hang up until the person on the other line would.
I'm currently on Beanstalk. So far haven't encountered any issues other than the occasional screen flicker and that the gps won't lock. I love the Darkstalk option too!

Or Has The Development For This Phone Seriously Slowed Down?
The S4 came out. Many are working on both devices or more, 5 or so Roms just got updated I wouldn't see that as slowing down very much. This is also the time a lot of people get the used device to Dev on so many may come to our community as well. If you get "bored" you can try to build yourself or use att Roms also, so long as they don't have their updater-script device specific.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
I think the above is true. It's just not shiny enough anymore. I still love it though!
Another aspect, from a development point of view is: why? Why develop for the S3? It's already over-saturated with (mostly) TW and AOSP ROMs. And one ROM is pretty much the same as the next. What I'm trying to say is, nobody is going to reinvent the wheel, because there is nothing wrong with the one we're using. If I'm being honest, we already have a ridiculously large selection of ROMs to choose from. There's not really anything to update.
Well over in sprint forum we have cnexus working on the sense five rom...i dont think its slowing to much
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
There is always a slow down between major Android releases as well. We will see a huge uptick once 4.2-based TW ROMs launch and even more when key lime pie launches.

This!!! And further more like aerowinder stated, there isn't much more that can be done. Almost all AOSP Roms have the same issues and will continue to for the most part, they all use the same overall base for the most part, if one has more "features" it is more prone to breaks, same goes for TouchWiz Roms. The more stuff messed with and customized the larger the chance for breaks. I think the forum is bloated as is but thats not a problem as it gives options.

I completely agree with this, I find roms that are closest to stock, AOSP or Touchwiz, to be the ones that are the most pleasant to use.
Not trying to bash all the hard core rom cooks out there who packs in features into their roms, it is just my preference. You guys are doing an excellent job.
I know how much work it takes to develop a piece of software, especially when working by yourself or a tiny team. And for free.

I'm watching Ubuntu development and its not progressed any further on the kernel level than the last kernel I posted - it's in Development if you want to try out the OS but nothing works. I have to wait for Ubuntu to update the kernel source... They're still using 4.1.2 source code which is what they launched with. They need to work on the kernel before it's going to be any use.
First release isn't until October so I don't think they are going to do much kernel development right now and instead they're going to focus on app development

No one is working to port 4.2.2 update to our phone..
I am relatively new to S3,, is it really difficult to get 4.2.2 from international s3?
and in original android development, besides cm, paranoid asop roms there is nothing else.

It is not possible to port international ROMs to the Us S3. Entirely different hardware. We will have to wait for an official 4.2.2 release or rely on AOKP, AOSP, CM, etc.

I've been thinking about porting it over but been super busy lately.. Using a CM10.1 based rom to port the international 4.2.2 update..

That's quite the project you are thinking about undertaking!

That is typical after a device has been out for a year or so... It will slow down a bit.
I wouldn't worry too much, though. Our devices are going to get the 4.2.2 update... Things will pick up again.
I heard a leak may be exposed within the week. Rumor, of course... But from Samobile.com, they are typically a good source of information for stuff like that.

Really?! That would be awesome! I had so much fun back when we would get weekly leaks!
Can you link to where you saw that?

Seems to be in the comments here:

Can't find much else about it but I guess we'll know tomorrow?
I found this... it seems that a fixed leak for the international version is what's coming...

Lol
I couldn't help but laugh a little at all those comments.
But I can just about guarantee its not for any of the US versions.

Yeah I about lost my mind trying to keep up with some of those comments haha.
It looks like its the I9300 for sure though, we haven't even had one test build for US variants and it makes sense, especially with all the features of the S4 that Samsung is porting over. Like it or not, they are always going to update Exynos devices before Qualcomm, especially when it comes to the S3 because of the relatively large disparity between the performance of the two versions.
