What is the best kernel for gaming?? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys...i'm playing a bit some of these games...but even when i set these setting in stweaks...the games still lags. :
Cpu min : 1000mhz
Cpu max : 1600mhz
Cpu sclaing: performance
Gpu min: 350 mhz
Gpu max: 640 mhz
I'm using perseus latest kernel..and phoenix 11 rom..if this help.
The games:
Asphalt 7
Nova 3
Modern combat 4
Spider man amazing
Gta vice city and gta 3
Nfs most wanted
Me infiltrator
Nba2k13
.
Could changing the kernel help?
But the most of the lags i get is in asphalt 7 and modern combat 4 .
Which kernel would you advise me to use...to have no or just minimum lags.
Thx in advance.

Don't mess with the settings.
Perseus is good.

Thx buddy...i know that perseus is good....i use it as a daily driver...best in battery.
I mean...is it the problem of our graphic chip?
Hey xda members..which setting do you have to be able to play without lags? And of course which kernel do you use.

Try this

It's a lag reduction modification.

Perseus is always know for performance.

for me Perseus Kernel works great. No lags by playing Real Racing 3 and some other good games

806MHz?? You shouldn't overclock so much, 748MHz is max if you dont want to kill your phone.
Try to delete sounds and use chainfire, it should add some fps

I think you might find a stripped version of data for weaker phones on the internet, that should work even better

You dont need any mod with cm9 roms. When you install a cm9 rom you will have best performance and stability. So you should install cm9 beta2 firstly and you should wait beta3 while using cm9 beta2

Currently, i don't use any tweaks like that. Just applied the "disabled cpu rendering" and using the forfivo's V1 kernel (SmartassV2 + sio), removing/freezing some bloatware using the TB, and adjust my minfrees using auto memory manager (applied the mild setting) then i can play my fifa12 and shadowgun more smoothly than the default setting..

Yes really.I'm using cm9 beta2 and i can play modern combat 3, nova3, asphalt 6-7, pes and fifa 2012 and many hd games very very smooth.Maybe you know, everyone has a temple run lag problem with stock rom but with cm9 it runs smoothly. My maximum cpu freq. is 806mhz i've set.But still all games are very smooth and runs faster. So you dont need any mods or oc with cm9.Only you need a galaxy w and adreno game data But if you wanna play nba 2k13 or other tegra gpu games, buy a galaxy s3.Because the galaxy w max. performance is this

Asphalt 7 lag

Im on a custom rom pa 2.99 oc 1.5ghz seeder on and on the performance governer but it still lags
Sent from my Xperia ion using xda app-developers app
It's not your phone making the game lag, but it's the game itself... It's poorly optimized :/ (yeah fck Gameloft) Graphics look SO UGLY too

Actually it has an automatic underclock feature to prevent your phone from overheating
Check out my thread here
When it underclocks, the CPU will run at approx. 810 MHz and make the game lags

GT Racing 2 low graphics..

Hi guys!! I've a problem whit GT Racing 2 on my Galaxy Nexus. The graphics of this game is too low!! Asphalt 8 is better! Obviously I know it is lowered to optimize the performance of the game, but with asphalt 8 for example, there was a mod to increase the graphics to the max settings also on the nexus, and the game was good, whit about 25fps..
Now there is something for GT Racing 2?? Any MOD to increase graphics??

If it's built based on openGL 3.0 then there isn't much you can do. GNexus can go to 2.0 only

Thanks for reply! So how is it possible that for Asphalt 8 there was a MOD to increase graphics (on the MAX settings!) on the Galaxy Nexus?
UP! C'mon guys I have to give up??? There's nothing to do?
I remember that with real racing 3 i couldn't change video settings..but an app on the play store made it possible!

Well the GPU is the same as in the previous Nexus S only clocked faster so I wouldn't expect gaming miracles...

In gaming ...25fps is not good ...
Its called stuttering ...
Ideal fps for gaming is 45+ fps

hi
Yes. Unless the game has a graphics sub menu in options, u cannot change it
GT Racing 2 graphics mod:
1- Open apk with WinRAR
2- Open the assets folder
3- GameOptions.json open with wordpad
4- SGX 540 GPU with a parameter change under GPU_HIGH ==> for example "GPU=Adreno (TM) 320"
5- Save and Exit
6- This apk must be signed ==> Easy method: apk_signer.zip
Enjoy
Tested: s4 mini Adreno 305

Gpu overclock up to 320Mhz

Hello everybody!
Have anyone overclocked gpu on xperia s? I want to know how phone working and is any problems with it? I don't want to burn my motherboard.

I've overclocked mine using Trinity's kernel without any problems
Sent from my Xperia Slow LT26i
You need a unlocked bootloader
And a custom kernel
I recomend
Trinity kernel for general performance
Forzaferrarileo for a great balance
And doomkernel for stability and balance

I use DooMKerneL and kernel tuner app to overclock gpu to upto 320Mhz.. and yeah, you need to have bootloader unlocked..

can u post here a diffrence between stock mhz and oc-ed one?? Im curious how much power does that give
Im ising pureslim 4.4 now so no oc for me now but just asking ;p
200mhz 2d
266mhz 3d
As oposed to
266mhz 2d
320mhz 3d
With an OC your ui will become smoother and games will lag less
Also some benchmarking apps prove that you can beat a samsung galaxy s3

There you go.. say thanks to envious_data.. couldn't have explained it better.. Normally the clock for,
2D - 200Mhz
3D - 266Mhz
But we can overclock gpu to obtain,
2D - 266Mhz
3D - 320Mhz
Phone will run with no lag at all.. And it's super smooth.. I haven't tested it's effect on the battery yet though.. I don't actually use it much.. Unless if I want to play Asphalt 8 without lag..
Hope you understood..
Thank me if I helped..

the effect on battery is almost un noticable,
this is because its a small change (as oposed to a cpu oc (much higher frequencys and higher voltages required)
xperia s uses gpu and cpu to display
and finaly most kernels with a gpu oc usualy have a gpu undervolt meaning per frequency step it uses less power as oposed to stock
<(`^´)> knowing is good!!!

I get this problem sometimes.. My 2D gpu frequencies cannot be changed.. it might be because of mp-decision but isn't DooMKerneL supposed to have its own mp-decision? if i cant get past this problem, can you give me a link to the latest trinity kernel for Xperia S..? If its not asking for too much..

doomkernel doesent have 2d overclock
doomkernel used the stock mpdecision
also no need for a 2d oc unless you dont like laggy opengl based games
