I'm using King's #11 kernel with Fresh's latest. My question is if I flash to Cyanogen 6.1 (when it's released) does the kernel follow to that ROM? I don't want to flash another ROM and run into problems.
Sent while sitting on the toilet.
most roms include there own kernel which will over write any existing kernel you have. CM 6.1 I am positive will have a kernel package with it.
It is safe to assume you wont have any issues
Also ... be sure to do a nand back up before flashing the new rom. That will preserve,, not only your rom, but your kernel as well ... just in case you want to return to it.
Hi,
Could anyone please answer a question for me? Is the stock kernel for htc sense the same as the stock kernel for aokp roms?
I'm currently going between a sense and an aokp rom (can't decide which I prefer lol), both are on stock kernel, so I'm wondering whether I still need to flash the boot.img before I restore my nandroids?
Hope you know what I mean Thanks x
No, they've got different ramdisks if nothing else, so you'll need the appropriate boot.img from the backup you're restoring.
Thanks
Quick question if I wanted to install for example TripNDroid's kernel on a CM10.2 (4.3) ROM should I repack the kernel to get it to boot. I haven't tried a straight install yet, and the reason I ask this is the Kernel's don't explicitly state support for any AOSP version greater than 4.2.2. I've searched this but can't seem to find an answer.

I repacked XM's kernel for someone to use on cm10.2 and they reported all ok

Try both...if you have a backup you cannot really screw up. You can always restore and flash stock boot.img.
I would recommend a repack to accommodate possible/probable ramdisk changes between 4.2.2 and 4.3.
Lastly, the kernel DOES NOT officially support 4.3 so it may not work at all.
Thanks for the help to both of you I will try the repack if that fails I'll just restore the nandroid or attempt to reflash the CM10.3 boot.img
Hi guys, need some more advise, I've been trying to get lean kernel working with CM12.1 but it just keeps going into a boot loop at the android logo. I'm using the latest nightly cm12.1 rom, and lk_hltecm-v5.1 which appears to be the correct version of the kernel to go with the rom, but its just not having it. I tried Pure_Stock_DevB_Ported_N4_L_TW_V1.1_by_g00h with the touchwiz version of the lean kernel and that worked great, but touchwiz is so slow even when I overclocked the cpu lol, so if anyone has any advice, that would be great
Sorry guys, posted in the wrong forum, can someone delete this please
can anyone suggest custom rom or kernel that does not have deepsleep issue
