bricked and cant get back to stock - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

so here's what happened.....
i rooted my note 2 a few days after i purchased it. everything was fine. the only reason i was tryng to get back to unrooted stock was because i was having issues with sms and needed to take the phone to sprint to have them look at it.
well i found and followed the instructions here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2086769
everything was fine til i got home from an event in my city and realized that my phone wasnt charging no matter how long i left it on the charger.
so i downloaded odin3 v3.04 and tried to use lj1 firmware package to put the phone in the state it was when i pulled it out of the box.
well, i tried 3 times and it failed i believe at writing the system.
my battery is at 15% and have no way of charging it. oh, and when i try to turn the device on, the only thing that comes up on the screen is "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." and i cant even get kies to install on my pc, dont know why it just keeps reinstalling the hotfix and never gets past that point.
what can i do to save my phone?
my sis inlaw has the same device i do and i might be able to use her battery if i have to.
EDIT: I cant believe it but i fixed my phone!!!!!!!!!!!
After alot of rewording my search criteria with the search function on this forum, i finally found this- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2241136
This was my salvation! and i did it with only 15% battery to work with.

Its because it wasn't bricked. If it had been actually bricked you wouldn't be able to do anything with it except hold papers in place

Sorry, soft bricked is what I was gettin at. Im from redneck central and we use one word for just about everything. My bad.

Help with brick

Yesterday i was trying out some roms that i thought would work on my phone. At the end of it i returned my phone to the stock settings and today i tried to redo the return to stock process because it kept dropping signal when it didnt before. now nothing works. the LED doesnt even turn on when i plug it in.
tried using odin v1 to repeat the process because it looked simpler.
Please help.
Thanks in advance

Take out ur battery, and while holdng #1 key and the power button with one hand, then put the batt in while ur holding the 2 buttons and it should get you into download mode. Odin v-1 only works on 2.1 eclair. The newest Odin only works on 2.2 froyo... make sure ur using the Md5.tar file in the PDA secion of Odin...
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
If that doesn't work i would see if you can borrow a battery from a friend and if that doesn't work then you are screwed... unless you have the warenty for 7 dollars a month then you can say you "lost" it and pay 100 dollars for a new one
Well the bad news is that no one that i knows has a epic. Most of my friends have verizon, but on the plus side i took it to sprint and they regretfully told me that the usb port was broken after maybe 3 secs of looking at it. So i am getting a new phone tomorrow. Thank you for all your help.

Killed or bricked my Phone

Was using Odin , got stuck forever. The phone won't do anything now, won't reboot normally won't boot into recovery , won't boot into download mode. Totally non reponsive , nothing ever on screen , no charging icon . Battery out then back in , plugged into usb then put in battery.. tried it all.
looking for suggestions, phone is going back to t-mobile if I cant fix this
Try entering download mode again and reflash your phone. Download the tar again in case the previous was corrupt.
Pull out the battery and put it back in. hold vol up and down at the same time and then connect the USB cable. This will get you back into download mode.
Good luck!
Also, I believe this is in the wrong forum. I'm not a mod but I believe it belongs in the general section.

It's a common misconception (I did it myself) that the power button is also used in the sequence to enter download mode, this isn't the case. Just hold down vol up & down and connect the usb cable, do not press the power button.
Just trying to rule everything out
If this doesn't work for you then I'm out of ideas. Are you still able to get into recovery? If you are, try flashing a ROM and see what happens.
Just to clarify, what does your phone do when you turn it on? Does it boot loop or get stuck somewhere?
EDIT:NVM reread original post (selfn00b'd myself). Totally unresponsive? I believe you should still be able to get into d/l mode since I think they set that up as failsafe. If you can't then it probably will have to go back. Bummer
I'v herd that it somtimes helps to take the battery out and let it sit for 30 min
But thankfully I can not confirm!
May also want to try different computer and cable

You did not read the OP , The phone died after using Odin(which DL mode is required) , obviously the phone is easy to get into DL mode. The phone is stone dead and won't power into anything
its funny when people suggest you try something to power on your phone even after youve just told them you have tried it all. kind of annoying actually.
but same thing happen to me man. i finally gave up and sent it to samsung today, that would probably be your best option. either that or tmobile

Thats what I ended up doing , they are sending out a new phone. It is disturbing that you can actually KILL your phone using Odin. I have flashed a ton of phones a million times and never ended up with a door stop.
Im surprised the GS2 is brickable. I came from a Vibrant (Galaxy S) and that phone was impossible to brick. I was always able to bring it back to download mode but sometimes i had to try different combinations of things to get it into DL mode like remove sim or battery etc. What I'm saying is your phone can be fussy.

I bricked mine flashing a boot.img to the wrong partition in recovery. This phone is very brickable. T-Mobile gave me a new one but the first thing they asked me was if I rooted it. I said what's that mean

My brother, myself, and my fiancee all got s2's. Day of, I odin'd recovery to both mine and my brother's and rooted with no problem. tried it on my fiance's, dead in the water. did the same exact thing to all 3, didn't change any procedures. If you keep trying to turn it on, sometimes the led flashlight from the camera will flash for a second, other times it actually turns on and continues to work as normal but once you turn it off again, it may not turn on again. i got it to turn on again and actually odin'd back to stock recovery. problem was NOT fixed even after this, and after i turned it off again, it turned on again once, but never again after that. filed for warranty exchange. i used to think as long as you can odin back to stock you're fine, but it clearly wasn't the case. looks like we just got unlucky. if you bought the phone from a corporate tmobile store, bring your receipt and trade it in at the store because they give you a new phone. if you do a warranty exchange, they send you a refurbished phone (although the s2 is new enough that they might send you a new one anyway if you're lucky).

Bricked?! [UPDATED]

I tried searching, but I couldn't find anyone with the same problem as me and I don't know what to do.. I'm kind of freaking out. The last update I installed was darkside beta02, and I was really liking it minus a few connection and call issues. Anyways, I was in my car earlier today and picked out a song on play music. The phone instantly turned off, and it appeared that it was about to reboot so I didn't think much about it. Nope. When it starts to turn on it rarely makes it past the samsung screens that pops up right when you start the phone, but it has made it as far as the swirling samsung s splash screen thing. It just acts like it is rebooting from that part and it's like a never ending cycle until I remove the battery. I can get the phone into download mode by plugging it into the computer, but it only stays on for a few seconds and then goes back to it's never ending reboot. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, I really can't afford to have bricked this phone
UPDATE: I managed to restore the phone to stock, and I proceeded to root and put darkside beta 7.1 on it. Everything was running fine... For a few hours. It began to do the same rebooting described above, but now instead of looking like it's going to boot normally it goes straight to a screen that says "Firmware encountered an issue. Please sleect recovery mode in Kies and try again." with the phone model, "Custom Binary Download: No" and "Current Binary: Samsung Official" up top. It only stays at this screen for a few seconds before it starts back into it endless half-reboot. Any suggestions? This is frustrating me A LOT.
uh, have you tried charging it? Honestly at first blush it sounds like a dead battery.

The problem is that I can't do anything but watch the phone start up for about 10 seconds, or be in download mode for about 10 seconds. Not much time to do anything.
That is why you reset flash counts before you go in... Google is your friend and try to unroot somehow--

I had this exact thing happen to me today!! For the last week or so, I would get a random reboot up to four times a day. This started happening after I flashed Whitehawkx UVLDE zip. What I did was left the battery in the phone let the constant reboot run until the battery died. Then I would try to get into download mode, but then it would reboot before Odin recognized it. I left the usb plug in the phone and took the battery out, the phone would still do the rebooting vibration. I just stayed with trying to get the phone to stay on long enough to get recognized by Odin. Leave the drained battery out of the phone for a while (your choice of how long, I left it for about forty minutes) and replace it, hopefully it stays on long enough to get recognized. Finally it stayed on long enough and I re-flashed ULKL1. Now I'm back to running TDJ's DARKSIDE. EVOLUTION.2 [BETA 3] and I haven't had any reboots where as before it would reboot within fifteen minutes.

Thank you! And when you say replace the battery, do you mean get a whole new one or put in the dead one?
Just put the dead one in.
My advice is similar to his, but without killing the battery. Open odin on your computer, and input what your going to input into pda and have everything ready to go, so all you have to do is press start and its off. Now, start with the phone turned off, hold both volume buttons and plug in the usb cable from the computer quickly! Have your hand ready on the mouse and ready to click start. Soon as odin recognizes click that start button! Hopefully everything happened so quick, that the phone will take the flash. However, if it doesn't, then I'm afraid the only answer you would have left is to use a jig to reset the counter and take it in to be replaced.

Phone goes into download mode randomly!

I had my phone in a little portable safe as I'm traveling abroad with airplane mode on and wifi too. 7 hours or so passes and I pull my phone out. Its on a screen that says downloading 1 custom binary or something along those lines and has Andy the android saying do not turn off. No one knows the combination to my safe and no one went into it. The phone said not to turn it off but I did anyway and everything seems fine as I type this. Has any one experienced any thing similar? I'm running X15.

Go ahead and turn it off by pulling the battery. It says do not turn off because that mode is used to download firmware and could brick your phone. Since your not not downloading anything your good. Possibly try installing new firmware using odin and you can look up how to do that on here...just make sure you are using the correct firmware for your phone like don't use Verizon.

That happened to me the other day. For me, as soon as I put the battery back in, it went back into download mode. I had to hold the buttons down for recovery while installing the battery.

[Q] just want to confirm if this is hard bricked

So I bought 2 sgh-t989 at the same time... one for me and the other for my sister
she lives in another city but whenever we see each other, I've always tried to make sure that her phone is running the exact same setup as mine just so I can always provide "tech support" for her phone
anyway, she went on some trip and afterwards, she said her phone wouldn't boot up anymore
since she couldn't get a hold of me, she brought her phone to a store to try and get it fixed (bad bad mistake)
she left the phone at the store for a day to determine how much it would cost to fix it
after being quoted $100 for the fix, she decided it was too much to pay and just took her phone back
long story short... a week later, I finally have the phone in my hand... and this phone won't boots up, i've put in fully charged batteries and when I press (and hold) the power button, it does absolutely NOTHING... not even that initial vibration when it boots up
i've tried to plug it to the computer and it doesn't get recognize
its permanently off and i can't, for the life of me, figure out just how to even boot this thing into TWRP... just so I can attempt to recover her files
SO.... my question... is this truly bricked?
do I have to break the news to her that all the pictures she took on the trip is now unrecoverable?

I can then flash TWRP thru odin, get to TWRP and load my favorite ROM.

I want to know if my phone is bricked, its a Samsung glaxy sgh-T898 (but from telus) i am using a cynagenmod custom rom 10
i was using it then it went idle then when i went to unlock it back, it shut off and started to repeatedly vibrate like a pulse
so i then did a battery pull and then it vibrate and the "Samsung sgh-t898 logo appeared" for a sec or 2 and the phone shut back off and did the pulsing vibrating thing
i got the same result when i plug it into the charger and computer, even plug it in without the battery in it and pulsing vibrating happen again.
ps this had happen in the past but the phone came on like after 5 mins of, its now been hours it wont come on just keep vibrating

Thanks for replying so quickly , i think you might be right about sticky power button, because when put in the battery the vibrates begins
automatically and then i try turn on then hold the power and volume keys it entered into download menu but for 2 secs then shut off again and begin to start vibrating(pulsing again)
so i guess the download menu means its not brick, will try suggestion once i get a proper torque screw driver
