I know it's not just me, my brand new Galaxy nexus, from day 1 smelled like coconut, sniffing the ports gives you a strong coconut smell.

Certain models of android phones have a different candy smell as a promotion for the jelly bean operating system. The galaxy nexus was given a coconut smell where other models were given candy smells such as fruit punch, lemon, licorice and so on. Also, I have a bridge in NY I am selling, anyone interested?

It's strong enough on mine that if I haven't removed the back in a while and remove it, I can smell it just holding it at a normal distance.
It's not unpleasant, just kind odd. I'd describe it as faintly sweet mixed with plasticky.

john they are much different. this is like a pro level stylus that uses magnetic input. almost like on the touch pro type of screen accurate only now it is also a cap screen instead of resistive.
Reminds me a bit of the Motorola Xoom commercial last year. Although this one rags on Apple fans more blatantly.
Like others, I think the Galaxy Note is just too big. Even the E4GT is pushing it for me, although it's thinness and light weight help a bit. Plus I would not carry the stylus with me, which defeats one of the purposes of buying the Note. It looks like a cool phone but just isn't for me.

The stylus slips into the back of the phone....can't even really tell its there....of it wasn't for the GS3 coming out I would get it....got to play with one a few days ago.....it would definatly fit in the average back pocket.....feels thinner than my E4GT

I cant believe i am saying this but I am honestly considering the Note...yeah its BIG but thin, and yes its not for everybody...hopefully itll ship with ICS by the time it gets to Sprint, and will be rooted within the first 24 hours LoL
Haha, thanks OP....Somehow I missed the commercial last night, so this was the first time I had a chance to see it (see it, that is, on a FULLY working version of CM9 on my freaking Nook Color ereader....goddang, I love Android)....
Anyway, I don't know what I was expecting from it, but I wasn't really expecting it to be about the Note, and I DEFINITELY wasn't expecting Samsung to bring back that most epic song by The Darkness: I give it an all thumbs up rating.

We do have a subsidized phone available through T-Mo, so I'm inclined to use that.
GS3 seems like the obvious choice, but I'm loathe to hand her electronics destroying hands a new phone (this is her 3rd phone in just over 2 years. The others were similarly destroyed).
I'd be very tempted to hand her the GN and keep the GS3
How annoyed am I going to be with the GS3?
Other ideas?
And why couldn't she have waited a month until the Galaxy Note 2 came out?
Why not get her an older phone like the defy lol

Perhaps you could look around and checks phones that will have a nice resale value right now. Not sure what choices you have with tmobile. A gs3 could be had for $200 upgrade price, flipped for $500+ and then buy a nice little mid range expendable phone that will get the job done. Or maybe buy two. This method has it's goods and bads, but if a smartphone is really needed for phone amd text, and the extras for distraction/minimal tasks and getting on the web for fun, reading or tips on breasts hurt while breastfeeding then this might be a good path. Otherwise, get a nice little unlocked nokia or moto for cheap until toddler destruction improves.

The key word I see here is toddler, give the toddler that busted sensation. That way he/she has their own phone to dunk in coffee. The other thing is to teach your wife the proper way to deal with water damage, ie battery pull and rice.
And teach her not to put her phone in front of a baby. And tell her she won't like it the next time it happens.
Will the next nexus have a longer screen?
why does she need a phone in the kitchen in the first place?
