Does everyone's phone have a smell on the inside after you remove the battery compartment?
It's strong enough on mine that if I haven't removed the back in a while and remove it, I can smell it just holding it at a normal distance.
It's not unpleasant, just kind odd. I'd describe it as faintly sweet mixed with plasticky.
Lolol...I thought I was going crazy. "That new phone smell" perfect description sweet but plasticy

Yep! Behind the battery compartment of the phone, every samsung phone i've used has smelled sorta minty
Both new and used, it didnt go away after a year of having my Samsung SGS1 Vibrant
I recognized the smell immediatly it's gas being emitted from the battery. That's why it never goes away. Don't breath it too much.

Yeah I typically remove mine the minute they show any lift from the casing, which is usually pretty early on. The few times I waited longer to remove them I did end up with a sticky spot, drove me insane.

Of course I remove all stickers, for this exact reason, that in a few months down the road, it will look stupid when you remove it.
My phone has lived in various cases since day 1, never noticed it
a little off-topic, but my wifes aunt and uncle always leave the stickers on all there new appliances. They recently bought a couple new flatscreens and refuse to take the stickers off the screens and base of the tvs and it annoys the piss out of me.

It seems like everytime i open a thread about a maximum protection case someone is saying how stupid it is to buy such a thin phone then put a case like an otterbox or ballistic on it.
Heres the thing, id be willing to bet that atleast 1/4 of the users on xda do some type of physical labor work such as construction since its is one of the most profitable industries right now. I myself install fire protection sprinkler systems which is a very physical job. I have a nextel for work but lets face it we all cant go 10 mins without our smartphone lol.
People want to be able to take out sleek sexy thin phones into these hazardous enviroments and not have to worry about breaking them. Heck i remember when i had my treo 650 back in the day i stuffed it in a sock lol. And the sad part is most of the threads i read on here where a phone was dropped or whatever it dosent involve work or doing something hazardous. Its something like oh my friend was checking it out and dropped it or i got out my car and forgot it was in my lap. Then there showing pics of broken screens and scuffed up corners. I can say that right now there are only 3 cases i trust to put on my phone and thats a ballistic maxx and otterbox defender which i have both and the case mate phantom looks to be tough besides that i dont trust any seidio, body glove, tpu, bumper or incipio case on my phone. Because since ive had my phone its dont fell out my lap while getting out my car, ive dropped it off ladders and i think the ultimate test was when my gf was riding super man ride of steele at 6 flags she was holding her phone up and when she hit a hard turn guess what went flying out of her hand.....thats right a shine new s3 but she has the pink ballistic maxx on her phone. It dropped about 50 feet onto the concrete.
When we found it the case was dirty but after she wiped it it was if nothing happened. So for the people who think that those of us who put premium cases on our phones our idiots this is just a few reasons why i do it bc with out these bsllistics its safe to say me and my gf both would of done destroyed our phones. You mite say well dont be so clumsy and i can respect that but if you can throw a case on your phone that allows you not to worry about accidents hey why not.......plus my gfs phone was recording the whole time lol what s cool video lol

Secondly, the incident with the phone and the roller coaster, she deserved it.
Lastly it comes down to preference. Some people prefer the big cases because they want to protect their investment or make the phone easier to grip etc. Others prefer to keep the phone sleek and sexy and can do without the phone as they are pretty careful

Reason i didnt say kracken was bc she had a pink one on her evo3d. It was a nice case but most of it was a hard plastic material. Didnt seem it would absorb impact very well

Honestly I think badly fitting loose cases probably have more protection because if you drop it that gap should give the case a bit of spring when it hits and less energy goes into the phone.

Has your phone been in the sun for an extended period of time? Wikipedia says 105 degrees average in summer where you live, so I imagine a day on a dashboard might cause this...
It is stock and I don't leave my phone on the dashboard. I keep it in my pocket. Temperature is 50-60 F around this time of the year.

Also, my phone tends to land screen up for some reason. maybe that's the reason nothing's broken yet and the OP's phone survived.
