Cyanogenmod - Samsung Galaxy W I8150

Hello I'd like to know if exist any other official version before CM9 and where I can find it. Thanks!!

No official CM exists for galaxy w. Not even CM7.... You can find all official CM info on their website.

Oh OK and where can I find the 7 or 8 version? And they are released by Arco also? Like 9-10-10.1? I'm just looking for an earlier version of cyanogenmod that is completed. But I still don't like the last three versions.

AFAIK there is no CM8... And for CM7, I don't believe ARCO ever built CM7 for galaxy w. There is a CM7 port in development section if I remember correctly. It is not from ARCO and it had some bugs....
May I ask why you don't like the last three versions. CM9 is pretty much bug free and quite stable. Even CM10 is pretty stable and currently using it. It is stable enough for me for daily use.

Because they drain too much battery and after some period they start to give some problem. At the beginning they are awesome but after they're not pretty good. I always do pristine to make things go better, but I just want a stable rom that is only faster then the original one on my galaxy w. And the cm's rom are not satisfying me.

If you don't like sir arco's work, you can just use stock rom, which is samsung's work. Just don't put a bad comment, not stable enough or what so ever. I don't know why you still feel that cm9 also not stable enough. I think all the cm9, cm10 and cm10.1 are all very stable and very good for daily use. But if you don't satisfy enough, and i don't know what will make you satisfy, just make your own rom.

OK first of all cool down a little bit. Everybody has different needs and what maybe stable for you might not be stable for somebody else. For me I had reboot issues for a very long time with CM9 but so many did not. But with the latest releases, bugs that bothered me disappeared.
And don't blame people for searching alternatives to satisfy their needs. And not everybody has development skills to built roms.
Sometimes I don't get you people. CM is not a religion and arco is not a prophet. I don't get why you people are so serious.
I am grateful that ARCO developed CM for us and I can't thank him enough. But gee it is just a phone and a ROM.
My suggestion to you is to CHILL...
I don't think ARCO needs your protection and his work speaks for itself.

No, Arco is no prophet, just human like you and me. There you are right. He is a very smart guy who deserves a lot of thanks for porting CM9 to this device.
You just must understand many people are really really very thankful to him and sometimes overstating by threating him like a god.
I for myself also do not understand why CM9 isn´t working stable for you. It´s a really stable rom. Way more stable than Samsungs stock ROMs. With these I had always random reboots. That´s not the case since using Arcos CM9. Maybe it´s some apps you are using or your SDCard causing this.
Ok, but to be honest regarding stability in the final release I can´t tell. I was using RC2 with it´s older kernel till now because of the battery drain. it was running absolutely stable for me without any issues plus it gave me a awesome battery life, so I compiled my own kernel where i reduced it further. So if you are not satisfied with the final, you can try RC2 or RC3 together with my kernel. It gives way better battery life than Samsungs stock ROM will ever offer you.
However I updated last night to the final release and the battery drain appears to be the same like using Arcos CM9 RC2 with its stock kernel. So if the results will satisfy me, I will stay with the final and build a new personal kernel for it.

Most of the latest ROMs are based on ARCO's CM versions and I believe they will perform on the same level. However some of them may have some extra customizations to improve battery and performance etc. You may want to check their threads and see their features. Also there are some custom ROMs based on stock Samsung Roms. (Gingerbread) Like FAW, rebel etc. They may have custom kernels to speed up the phone.
When was the last time you tried CM9? Because as @honeyx noted, the latest version does seem to have good battery performance and stability.

As I already told you, try the final and if that doesn´t satisfy you regarding battery life, try the older RC2 or RC3. If one of these gives you better results, you can also try my kernel for them.

hey honeyx, will you develop a custom kernel for EOL version since it is equally good in terms of battery and stability?

I think so, but I will focus on reducing the consumption further than adding a lot of governors. But this will require a lot of testing before launching it. Currently I´m testing the newer 3.0.81 kernel to which Arco updated his sources after launching the final release. This new kernel just has some changes in memory management like the latest kernel for CM10.1 where some people reported to get hangs. So I just added the lulzactive governor, incrased ram and reduced the voltages to first check it´s stability, but so far I didn´t get any hangs and freezes in games.
I´m really anal about stability and consumption and only will release a kernel that is working rock solid for me.

My Defy Disappointment... no luck finding good rom

Hello
I've stop counting after 2000 hours spending flashing roms on my defy...
I came to a conclusion that no ICS/JB version will be good. everything I've tried eventually ended up with a slow rom that interfere daily use.
so I'm a bit disappointed about it cause I had to get back to CM7.2.
I've searched all over the net - what is the fastest rom for defy...and all forums say it's the CM7.
If someone can think of other version that works faster please let me know.
I really need FAST phone, and willing to flash an old rom, but to get stability and speed.
thanks for helping!
and thanks to all dev's that gave their souls in order to bring the newest rom to that old phone.
Try this rom :

if this one will be to slow or you , then you need Galaxy SIII

anyway, it is a bit slower than latest Quarx Build.

I tried V5 and V5.1. Both are based on Quarx 0409. V5.1 is supercharged, and is slower then original Quarx.
Rom has AOKP weather icons and some tweaks and cherries. Apex is default launcher, battery life is worst than original.
There are 3 versions for defy+, normal, overclocked and undervolted.
Good rom but latest Quarx`s nightly is much fluid.
Developer of this rom (Defy +++ from Androidhilfe) will released next version based on latest Quarx in couple few days.

The Peoples Rom is a solid Rom with great battery life. All the CM roms have been great for me and CM10.1 is no exception, but I'd try a few to see what you like best.

Your modem does not change but the kernel will. The one that comes with CM10.1 is a 3.xxx based kernel and is smooth. I'd recommend running the rom as is for a few days and see how you like it.
I agree with you Kenny, but what an amazing work! everything is fast & fluid, colors are vibrant and beautiful.. I have been hanging around Epic forums for more than a year and this is the first time I saw something like this! you really had put a lot of work behind this, well done :good:
Been lurking and playing for a while now...
First off, I'm really impressed with the work the developers do here! OMG, it's giving my Epic new life and more. My wife like my phone so much, she asked me to root hers and put JB on it!
That being said, there's really a lot of choices, and almost every ROM makes a good daily driver. The question is what your threshold is for having things you're willing to put up with to get the cool new features these ROMs provide.
Here's my experience in the last 4 months - I started with CM9, and while I really liked it, I had some issues where it seemed to run hot at times. I added all the build.prop tweaks for increasing battery life, and once the stable version came out, I was pretty stoked. After a couple of weeks, I tried CM10 nightlies (my current ROM, 2013-01-20. I LOVE it! I added the 4.2 gapps camera and Gallery to enhance it a bit).
I expected the worst, because I work with developers and the term "nightlies" is never something we show to the public. In reality, aside from some initial issues with rebooting on earlier builds, it's been awesome.
This past couple of weeks, I decided to check out the waters and tried CM 10.1, and ran it for over two weeks - even put it on my wife's phone. It was like buttah until it randomly rebooted in the middle of a business call. I figure, once it goes to nightlies, I'll try it out again. Still itching, I tried ParanoidAndroid 4.1.2, and also AOKP Alpha 4.2.1 build. Both builds were stable and pretty polished, but battery life was better with CM10 - at least for the time-being. If you like to have lots of control over how your phone looks and acts, you can't go wrong with either ROM. I went back to CM10 mostly because it runs everything, especially Dead Space, which I couldn't get to work on any other ROM.
So, there's not really a "best" - it depends on what you want, and can put up with if there are issues.

no offense, but it takes about 30 seconds to flash a kernel. Why don't you try a few and see which one works the best for you? Everyone's experience is going to be slightly different.
I flashed two different kernels before picking one, and after that I added some init.d scripts afterward that improved battery life over the stock kernel settings.

I would rather have stability than bleeding-edge any day! Contrary to my claim for the need of stability, I am going to give MIUI a shot. I tried it out when I had my G2x but there were some bugs that made that rom unusable as a dd for me. Hopefully my experience with MIUI will be much more pleasant with the S2!!
I'll flash the kernel later and see what happens. Even though I'll be giving MIUI a test run.... I always end up going back to Cyanogenmod. Always!

When I was running MIUI my only problem was not being able to shut off the capacitive lights. I had no problems with bootloops or anything of that sort.
I get bootloops and/or camera crashes with the latest JB MIUI and horrible call quality on my end with the last ICS based MIUI. It's odd that the call quality is fixed with the JB MIUI and busted in ICS, should be the other way around lol.

Just stick to CM9 till a more stable release for CM10 is out. If you have trouble with permissions, go to recovery and use fix permissions.
Don't get me wrong. That's just my opinion... You can use CM10 if you like. For music player, use Google Play Music.

All the ROM for this device are almost the same, all ics/jb roms are basead on arco's source, which means that there are no significant difference in battery/performance/bugs between them, the only difference is the mods, apps (removed or moded), and a few tweaks.
Pick the rom you like the most, if you want a clean rom and you don't care about those mods just pick CM9 or CM10, I would go for cm10, it's stable enough for daily use.

Yes, normal stock JB is better than stock ICS but we are talking about an ICS ROM that has RC stage while the JB is only at its alpha stage. The tweaks and 'project butter' smoothness will not be at its... Full power? Just saying. Not bias to any ROM at all. Different people have different opinions.

I used CM10 by Arco with 4.1 to 4.2 JB App Mods...
But its me... And in the end all the options back to you...
Sorry for my bad english...
If you ask me what is the best ROM in W. Then I would say: Nothing.
What's the best for me maybe its not the same for someone else. Maybe someone said: 'Ah CM10 FTW!!!' but then someone else argued: 'No!! CM9 is better blah blah blah'. And someone else said SlimBean 4.2 is da best.. e.t.c. And you know what will happen next.
If you want to ask what is the best ROM, ask it yourself. Try any ROM and Mods that might fit your requirements. (And expectation, of course)
