Hey can I improve my sounds by flashing a kernel? I'm running stock rooted 4.1.2
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Faux plus faux app probably. Maybe try the mods availabel like Viper and beats and such. I'm thinking of creating a thread with all those available and testing them out to see if they actually work. I've yet to see any difference with those sound mods but people swear by them.
If you don't want to flash a kernel use this
http://forums.team-nocturnal.com/sh...EQ-s-and-Clear-Bass-Working?p=15762#post15762
It works for me, and its the best sound enhancer I've used. Just flash in recovery and go.

I'm not sure if you could since you're on stock but maybe install dsp manager?
Current rom: Liquid Smooth 2.5
Kernel: latest BMS
I haven't used or heard mentioned ch about it but there's also this one that's supposed to work on all devices. PureAudio

I like nooz eq but the wording inside the app is just ridiculous. IMO it should be a simple user interface like DSP so that it appeals to the masses

anyone else tried the walkman mods..im about to switch to a different rom here the serenity 1.2 (full) rom here in a few..
I'll be installing this as soon as my phone charges some more. I tried sereneity 1.2 and though it was very good, I had a few issues with battery drain and not being able to use custom kernels. Might just be my phone, but Serenity didn't play nice at all with Kt kernel. It would stick at 1080mhz and drain the battery like there was a hole in it. Other than that, I liked the rom. It was stable and fast.
I'm on ParanoidKaingDroid now and have gotten double the battery life and that's without deep sleep (my phone won't deep sleep because of notes traveler and mail alert constantly checking mail for work).
Yea i noticing some battery drain on full 1.2 did flash kt jb version so ill see.

tried it on mine running task's AOKP and couldn't get anything to work. None of the DSP managers worked, noozy player wouldn't even play anything. I did try selecting the correct audio FX in settings.. couldn't get it to work.
And I agree, the information in that thread is TERRIBLY arranged. Once I downloaded the installer I felt like everything I was looking at was a total surprise.

Cool thanks, great mod.
the only change i had noticed was an increase in volume. I highly recommend if trying the mod to make a nandroid backup immediately before flashing it...
Yes do a back up first..

So basically i've given up on trying to find the right touchwiz kernel. Tested anthrax, lean, and modded stock and all of them make phonecalls sound like underwater.
- I want a kernel that has good GPS LOCK
- I want a kernel that doesn't sound underwater
- Obviously performance and battery are important
Thanks for suggestions

My calls have always been very clear with all of the AOSP kernels I've used.
Don't recall having that issue on TouchWiz either. If it is happening on the stock kernel, my first thought would be hardware issue.

AC!D Audio
DISCLAIMER:
I don't claim this to be my work nor dev it. I just want to share my finding...and flash at your own RISK!! I'm not responsible for what happened after. A big thanks to the AC!D team. Please if you have the time thanks them.
OK with that out of the way...
I have tested and confirmed that AC!D v7.0 works for our S4. When I say confirmed it mean I tested multiple version and let it sit before I shared it.
Here's the original link to the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1923630
Tested on WICKED v2 (which is a TouchWiz rom) with TWRP 2.5.0.0
NOT COMPATIBLE w/ WICKED 5.1 Use V5.0
**MUST BE ROOTED**
Installation instructions:
1. MAKE A NANOID BACK-UP!!!! (I can't stress how important this step is)
2. Download v7.0 AOSP3 [2805] ONLY!!!
3. Download Add-ons either: Clear+Audio or Noozxoidelabs.noozy.84.011 (Your pick...I like Noozxoide personally.)
4. Reboot into recovery.
5. Flash AOSP3 [2805] (this will take a while, don't worry it's installing...)
6. Wipe cache/dalvik (I do this twice just in case)
7. Flash add-on
8. Wipe cache/dalvik (I do this twice just in case)
9. Fix permission.
10. Reboot and enjoy. :victory:
The build.prop will be added. To confirm this use Root Explorer and goto /system/build.prop and go to the bottom and you should see the added props.
Sound setting I prefer putting on your headphone and test all options. It varies from each person. One thing I do not like is how the actual volume button is weak I have to put it on MAX...so until there's a mod for that you just have to live with it! :silly:
Issue: If you are experiencing issue with EQ not working or buzzing noise.
Fix: I may suggest you recover to previous backup before the 2805 flash and flash 2802 first then 2805. As some have issue with 2805. Can't confirm call quality on AOSP rom.
After some testing it's noted what 2802 is best by it's self with certain TW rom.
Q&A:
Q) Why can't I just download the Stock Rom version?
A) Because I tested that and it will send your phone into bootloop.
Q) How do I know the mod is working?
A) Test the option with your headphone on and YOU'LL SEE THE DIFFERENCE!
Q) Do I have to flash the add-ons?
A) Nope, your choice. The actual mod has Beats EQ already.
Q) Have you tested this on a STOCK rom?
A) No I haven't. I only did this on WICKED ROM.
Enjoy your new mod and happy modding!
Beats EQ
First, Thanks to merchant2112 for finding this. I don't claim any of these work to be mines.
Second, I did installed it and ran it for several days before updating OP.
Beats EQ
Download link:
http://d-h.st/7Jm
Pre-Installation steps:
Ideally a fresh/clean install would be great, but...
A dirty flash over AC!D is OKAY. You would need to uninstalled Ac!d audio v5.0 or v7.0. Please uninstalled all the Ac!d audio app and any add-ons you might have (noozoixde, clear audio+, etc...).
***If you don't this will cause random restart. I used TiBu to wipe data and uninstalled.
Installation steps:
1. NANOID BACKUP!!!
2. Wipe dalvik and cache x2
3. Flash BMSound_Full_S4_LTE.Zip
4. Wipe dalvik and cache x2
5. Fix permission
6 Select BeatsEQ on your Setting>Sound>Music effects.
Test out all the setting and see what's best for your ears.
Note: Extreme is pretty extreme and some of the bass might be very distorted so consider that before going extreme.
So just double checking it does work with TouchWiz not just AOSP right?

Why is this rated a "1". Looking for negative issues in posts here. Don't see them if any
Edit: Followed OP and I am thrilled with the sound quality.
It is very quiet like the op said. I wish there was a way to boost the audio when its on speaker.

Forgot to mention this is working on the Death Star V2 ROM, for those interested also.
How do I remove the notification from clear + audio? Does anyone know how to?
Sent from my SGH-M919
ACID V7.0 2805 will flash fine n a wipe install of CM10.1 or any other AOSP such as Slim Rom etc. but it will kill Phone call audio. It only works on TW based roms. You must use ACID V5.0 optimized for Samsung roms on all AOSP roms so that Phone call audio works. They both sound great and our a huge improvement in audio quality in conjunction with PlayerPro with DSP Pack and PowerAmp. I am using Slim ROM V5.4 with Acid V5.0 and Phone call audio works perfect and audio quality with PlayerPro and 10 Band DSP Pack is as good as it gets and sounds just as good as Wicked V2 TW with ACID V7.0 2805 + Clearaudio.
Has anyone tried this one stock rom rooted? I need wifi calling...

I am using Acid V7 2805. on the Death Star V2 ROM posted here. My phone audio works perfectly. The only deviation I used from OP is when I went to the referenced site I had actually downloaded the AOSP 3 2802 file instead of the 2805 file. This was based on what I had read on that site. I then downloaded the correct 2805 AOSP3 file, flashed, wiped caches, fixed permissions and also used the Noozy apk reference in OP. Again, audio works perfectly for phone. I'm blown away by the sound quality and the shear loudness achieved when listening using my Monster Titanium Turbine Pro bud I bought almost 4 years ago. I use probably half dozen various music apps including PowerAmp Pro and all works perfectly on my S4. Just my own observations.

I'm using the latest version of ParanoidAndroid and N.E.A.K kernel on my Note 2 N7100
I'm not getting satisfying CPU power, I mean its not as smooth as the other kernels. The battery life is pretty much okay.
I want a kernel which has good performance for gaming and butter smooth performance, and is there any other kernel which offers a sound mod which matches the level of wolfson audio control?
I'm a bass lover, so I wanna know that is there any other mod which gives better quality audio than wolfson audio control?
and The last thing I want is good battery life.
Please help,
Thanks in advance
I haven't been on AOSP ROMs before. But I can vouch for RedPill on Sammy.

Hi,
Either you stay on stock kernel or NEAK.
That would be my suggestion.
Thanks for your reply guys, I think I'll just stick with PA Rom and NEAK Kernel cz IMO NEAK has the best sound mod / audio engine amongst all other Kernels and gives great performance without OCing.
you can try stock Kernal with viper sound enhancements very easy

Viper. .
Its WAY more than CM10 DSP
Its blows away a Beats EQ.
The only other I would recommend is
ClearAudio+ but even that doesn't even come close to Viper

I completely agree with klin1344 for this device. If you're on a rom that uses DSP Manager, give it a chance. It's superb.

Viper, i tried dsp manager but prefer viper.
Viper ALL the way. Just convolver alone is worth switching over for.
Viper actually affects other apps (pandora being the biggest for me) dsp manager and ac!d do not. I prefer the Viper install over that of Ac!d too.
