I have an iPhone 5 and I'm on AT&T and have it up for trade.
Someone has a tmobile note 2 and wants to trade
He said he can get them both unlocked. And the tmobile will work fine
On AT&T.
My questions are will it work and if I want to flash custom Roms will this mess up the unlocking?
I have searched all over and can't tell some people say everything but LTE works and some say not.
It's confusing. I need the phone to work on AT&T and not have to worry about messing up the unlock.
It should still be unlocked but you should get the code just in case.

Once it's unlocked, it's unlocked.
Just make sure that note is fully paid for or you may end up with blacklisted phone

I would just say, not sure specifics but who in the right frame of mind would trade away a GNII for an I phone 5... just sounds 2 good to be true, especially with all the horror stories out there...

Unlocked tmo note 2 with att sim card is not worth it. You will not get att lte service or gps. My cousin had a tmo GNote2 with att sim and it drove him crazy note having lte and gps. No fix around it, find urself an att GNote2. Best of luck

What would stop the GPS working?
Hey guys,
I got scammed on craigslist and the guy won't respond. So I bought a T-mobile Galaxy S3 and it worked fine for over a week until 2 days ago when it stopped connecting or registering to the T-mobile network. I found out from T-mobile it was blacklisted as stolen/lost that day. I called to confirm the phone wasn't stolen or lost when I bought it. The T-mobile store says there is nothing they can do except offer me a new phone from the store to pay full price.
Can I unlock a phone marked as stolen/lost using an unlock code and use it on AT&T?
I tried searching the forum and I found a thread about a guy who already had the phone unlocked so he was able to use it on AT&T but in my case, the phone is not unlocked yet but is blocked from T-mobile networks.
Thanks in advance,
Buzz
Well if you unlock it before the whole illegal thing starts you can use it on AT&T.

If I unlock my T-mobile phone, can I keep the T-mobile stock rom or do I need to flash it with the AT&T stock rom?
If you are on stock, why dont you just dial *#197328640# to go to phone control menu, then network lock and turn off the network lock. If you do a google search for unlock galaxy s3 xda forum u ll see it.

1111+ Thats correct I have tried every rom out there from att and it worked on my tmobile s3. Now for the op. looks for the thread on general there is one that shows you how to unlock your phone without a code. It was meant to be for the note2 but it worked on all us s3's I have mine unlock that way put in my friends att sim and it worked fine only thing that the speed its a little slower not 2G though. And thats because att's 4g its 20ish not 42.
Any ways. If you were called tmobile and talk to a superviser they can change the IMEI number on their system and the phone would come back to work in 48 hours.
I know because It have happened to me too. It doesnt matter if you have your tmobile sim on it for at least a day tmobile computers will register that phone onto your network.
P.S the only thing that will changed from a ATT rom is that build.prop It will show that its an att rom but you can edit it to d2tmo with root explorer
Just don't flash other modems from other carriers that will Brick you.

gf reported her phone lost because it was cracked, samsung sent her a new one so now i want her old one. I put in my sim card but it says "Not register to network" im thinking maybe t-mobile blocked the phone somehow since it was reported lost but I figured there was a work around. Friend told me unlocking the phone and setting it to international radios may help but i have no idea how to do this since im new to the android community. Switching from iphone to android! So yeah, please help!

Yup, T-Mobile blocked it.. There's no legal way around it, maybe your gf calling T-Mobile to unblock it, but they'll probably charge her full price for the one they sent her.. You could try using a different carrier, but it could end up being blocked again.. You could also sell it to someone in another country, blacklist won't go past the US

international radios, gonna unlock the sim. My gfs mom is probably going out of the country so if i unlocked it, she could use it outside the US right?and if she can i take it as she'd have to use a carrier other than t-mobile to do this though?
You can't use international radios.. And I don't know, but I would think so, using a local carrier should be fine

There are services that will fix this for you. I payed 35$ for my blocked tmobile s4 to be repaired.
I did this with an HTC EVO 3D. It was locked for 2 years so I flashed the phone to a different carrier and it worked. You might have problems with different features but it is posibble to still use the phone. Find a cellular store that will flash it. They normally charge around 50 dollars, give or take.

Hello,
I just got my note 4 via Amazon today. I was trying to be smart and save some money by trying to use Straight talk service (At&t) on a verizon Note 4 because it was a $100 cheaper. Considering the fact that verizon devices are unlocked for GSM use I thought why not try my luck.
So off i went to experiment with a great deal of doubt if this might work. Popped my Sim in, peeled the protector off and first thing i did was to create and save my APN. It took me less then a minute to realize the harsh fact that LTE was not going to work. Searched the web, called Customer care (like they would actually be of any help) and found nothing. Nada, zero, khallas. The dreaded 'H' is all i get and its annoying the crap out of me.
And here I am now debating whether i should spend a $100 more to go get the att note 4 or send this back and get the nexus 6. Almost out.
SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE.
Thanks!!
LTE only works with T-Mobile using Verizon phones in most cases.
Uhh if you did your research before hand you'd know that the Verizon version only supports LTE Band 13/4 while AT&T uses different bands for LTE. It's literally listed on the product's page on Verizon's website.
I'll not hesitate to admit the fact that I'm an idiot.

Yeah, I've the Att Micro SIM in this device. It's not the developer version, just the normal Version infact. Verizon devices are unlocked right out the box so you don't have to go for the region unlock. Cheers!

Did you buy the phone or did you find it? Just curious if "bad" esn phones will work outside of verizon network.
I hope more people can confirm it working on att because I've always been told Verizon uses different bands than att

Straight Talk is AT&T and Verizon, it uses both, and I know from experience moving Verizon lte phones to Straight talk, every straight talk phone ends in -A or -V depending on which network is used.
So wat all we have to do is put a straight talk sim in a verizon phone and it will work cause I am confused here straight talk told me I can not use a verizon note 3 or 4

First it has to be compatible, you can go to their website and check the imei. If compatible, you need to go through the process, which in my experience, costs about 8 for a code you need. They also sell kits in the store. Not all phones are tested to work, but many do anyway.
Bit of a cell noob when it comes to this stuff since I've been on a contract for years but I'm tired of paying 90 something odd dollars for just myself so I want to switch to Straight Talk. So if I want a Verizon Note 4 (Verizon is the best service in this area and I need it especially where I'm at) I just buy an unlocked Verizon Note 4 and then get a Straight Talk kit from Wal-Mart to use with it and it's that simple or is there more to it?
Yes. It will work just fine. I've had the same combination for 2 weeks now and works great. One step you will have to do is to create an APN setting on the phone to have working Internet. Just search for Straighttalk ATT APN settings through google. Pretty simple!
Sent from my SM-N910V using XDA Free mobile app
All you need is a ATT Straightalk SIM and that will do the trick. Use APN settings on their website to get working data. Verizon Smartphones in the last year (especially IPhone 5 and above) are compatible with GSM (Straighttalk/Cricket/T-Mobile)

I bought a note 4 on AT&T from eBay I was stupid and didn't read the advert properly my fault. Am wondering would I be able to flash my note 4 to UK unlocked rom at all? So basically it would work exactly the same as a note 4 bought hands free in uk. I have read there is difficulties in flashing international versions to work on AT&T due to network frequency but not much detail going the other way around
You can't flash anything on the AT&T version. It doesn't even have root at the moment and the bootloader is locked so you'll probably want to sell it.

If it's network unlocked it will work in the UK with your sim. Don't know if lte will work.
Yeah lte works and currently on ee phone works fine but just wondering if am able to flash it and install custom rom or original Samsung rom
I gurantee the AT&T Note 4 will NEVER see its bootloader unlocked. At this point in the game, it probably won't even see root.
I've read somewhere the android L will make it difficult for att to look bootloader and also android L will allow Uninstalling bloating software.
