I´m using the VaniljEclair RLS6 with the last kernel and I couldn´t get the tethering function to work via USB.
I never used it on android, only used it on Windows Mobile and it was working perfect, now I just removed Windows from my Kaiser and put android as the main OS.
Could someone please help me doing this?
I´ve searched in the forum and can´t get the right answer
Do I have to have root permission to do this?
I´m using Ubuntu 10.04 in my netbook
Thanks a lot
Moved to correct subforum.
same question here, tethering is the only thing i've missed with android on kaiser.
i've noticed that iptables complains about missing multiport support, maybe i can build own kernel with this?
has anybody solved tethering problem on kaiser?
If i could get tethering working in android, i would flash it and replace WM6.1
This is the only things i want in a new android build; working phone, working data, working tehtering.
For Windows users, it exists a program for that, its name is "PdaNet"
Tetherbot works good as well although it runs through a proxy in firefox browser
I also have problem with tethering with android.
in linux, dmesg only shows usb storage
if I try modprobing usbserial, android is detected as serial adapter (/dev/ttyUSB0) but not as a modem.
Good day...i just wanna ask if you know some non-sense rom for my WFS(s-on) that supports "Internet pass through"??
internet pass through is like an opposite of tether...when your computer have internet connected to it your WFS can also have internet by connecting it to your computer...
i tried searching but unfortunately i dont see any rom that supports it...i realy like cm but cm doesnt support it so im currently using may stock rom...
PLEASE HELP
Internet Pass Through is only available with HTC ROMS. HTC drivers on PC are required. If I had the know-how, I would love to try and get the appropriate files from Sense and put them in CM7! It's a great feature, but no-one else seems to do it.
If you find out how this is done .....let us know!

Hi guys,
As there is no Q&A section for the Galaxy W, please feel free to use this sticky to ask your questions, or answer questions posted here.
Please try and keep this thread friendly, helpful and on-topic. Feel free to report anything out of place, and I will clean it up for you.
Cheers! :good:
[Q] [Clock Always Stuck Up]
ok ill start and i think it would be clearer if we put a thread like title on our post
why does my clock always stuck? there are times(honestly most of it) wherein when i wake the phone its stuck on the last time i locked it, i already tried many clock widgets such as the Sensus 4.0, Beautiful Widgets, and many more, still it stucks up. can somebody tell me what the real problem is? i read from other threads that when they use 3rd party clock it doesn't stuck anymore and works well but for me i still stays the same whatever clock i use

You should post more information...
Is your Galaxy W able to see and connect to the network?
Hi fellow SGWers, I wonder does anyone know of a "Diagnostic" app for diagnosing errors/issues/random reboots on an android phone?
I've recently (in the last week or so) started getting random (and not so random) reboots, I could try and diagnose it myself, ie. uninstall apps that seem to make the phone reboot, etc, but I'm too lazy/impatient and would like to use an app that I can possibly set to monitor activity on the phone for a certain length of time.
Heavy battery use isn't an issue at the moment as I'm laid up at home with a stomach bug, so can charge it whenever it needs it.
Thanks in advance for any and all help!
Edit: For reference, I'm running CM9 Alpha 4
CTBadger.

Don't know... that's weird.
You should check the settings on the wifi router then (maybe there's a MAC filter and only iPhone is allowed to have internet connection?)...

Kernel
Hey guys, how are you doing?
I have a question (is about development, but I can't post anything in development section yet).
I'm modding a stock ROM for my i8150b. I'm doing this because I couldn't found any custom ROM with pt_br support since most custom are based in EUR ROMs, and i8150 have this "special edition" fo us brazilians.
My problem is, can I use a custom kernel in it without losing my language support?
And just to make it clear to me, RTL is the shortenning for something about language?
thanks.
Questions
Guys,
Can some people tell me if we can do this

Hello XDA,
I've been following you for years. I started following you with my first Android phone, an HTC Hero. I've been very happy to be able to use a community ROM that made a far better experience than the stock ROM.
I recently got a brand new HTC One V PrimoU, and I'd like to make it my new polyvalent tool.
I'm not a noob in computers, kernel/linux related stuff, electronics, networking. I already tried some ROMs. In fact, I started with KangBang 3.0 (the same version as now I think), but both WiFi and BlueTooth were not working. Android could not even detected the WiFi MAC address, so I guess it was a driver or wireless chip firmware related problem. I think I was the only one affected, so it was maybe a bad flash or I used the wrong kernel. I did'nt investigate more at the time, but if it happens again to me, I'll send some system/kernel logs.
I then tried AOKP, had a great (really) experience with it, except that the Jack plug sound quality was awful. No bass, only mid/high tones. I even thought my speakers were dead at first, but then tried with headphones. Now, I want to try KangBang again, because that ROM was good, and fast, just missing WiFi.
TL;DR
I'd like to ask some precise questions about KangBang and the HTC One V.
I initially wanted to ask in the ROM dev thread, but can't since I'm a new user, so I ask here. Sorry if the questions are stupid/simple/answered, but let's make a clear base, with precise interrogations and answers, so that they will never be asked again
The kernel is included in the .zip file. Still, do we need to flash manually ? Or will the Aroma installer handle that ?
What about ROM Manager ? Is it recommended to use or is it a good way to brick a phone as I heard ?
Does this ROM change the base Android system and file structure ? Would it be compatible with a side-by-side installation of a Linux system such as Debian ? (To see what I mean by side by side installation of Linux, search Debian Kit for Android on Google, as I can't post links)
Also, I'd like to tell ROM makers these advices (don't take them bad, I you think I'm wrong about them there's no problem, just tell me why) :
It would not be a bad idea to give a simple statistic about the ROM : the load average with the ROM installed on an idle and clean phone. That would give a good indication of idle power consumption and ressource wasting.
I see that users reporting problems with their devices NEVER include any kind of debug information. Maybe you should ask for them, just because by searching for this debug information they might solve the problem themselves. Most Android systems and kernels report a LOT of information, that we can access with simple commands such as dmesg.
Last but not least, I would like to thank you, ROM developers and XDA users for allowing me to play this way with my phone, and to make it work exactly the way I want.
Hugo G.,
ummm this device has kangbang?? (btw questions go into q&a )
so i'll move onto the TL;DR which i was grateful for
1) The rom thread should say what kernel but yes, we don't have s-off so flashed manually
2) Ignore rom manager don't touch it
3) think of it as the differences say with debian vs ubuntu vs mint all basically debian but all with they're own differences (pros and cons)
also about the "suggestions" to the devs, that will NEVER go down well, why should YOU suggest to use what to put in the threads also i know in my threads i ASK for logcats time and time again...
hope this helps
if you need more info i'll be welcome to add more, but 1st i need sleep BADLY
Hi to all,
I tried to make work this dongle, but with no success.
First i debranded the key (it was branded H3G, italian operator), i rooted the GPad and installed PPP Widget.
When I insert the dongle, PPP Widget says to me that he has no driver. So, where I can find these drivers?
I searched on the internet but it's very difficult to find something about that.
Thank you!

Sorry you are out of luck. Kernel injection of drivers was dropped after 4.0.4. So unless your kernel supports it...

Yeah, I red about to flash custom kernel with drivers implemented, but can't find those drivers and kernels.
Hoped to find them here!
With Samsung tablets it's possible, even with 4.3. Maybe there is a solution for GPad too.
So... No solutions?
