I just updated my phone to jb and everything is perfect and smooth. But the hdmi is really laggy. I cant watch a movie with it.. But when you play it on phone it is fine.. Is this connected with the 1080p video recording lag issue??
I use hdmi a LOT and i hope they get this problem sorted out.. It was fine on ics...

I'm having the same problem. Setting the HDMI video output quality to High instead of Standard helps a bit (but just a bit, a tiny bit).
I've created a thread at sony's forum, you can also post there, maybe they'll fix it in the next build

I used to be able to watch 720p video without any problem in MX Player, but after switching to Jellybean the picture is choppy. If I switch to software rendering instead of hardware it improves somewhat, but it's still choppy at least every other minute or so until it recovers. If I play it in the VLC beta I get artifacts every now and then until it works itself out.
Anyone recognize this issue and has any idea what to do about it?
Probably best to wait till we have a full version and not just a developer preview leaked version.

Well, that wasn't very constructive. I'm perfectly aware it's a leaked version, I'm just wondering if it's a known issue first of all and secondly if there's anything to do about it. If the only answer you can give is "don't use leaked/unstable roms" then you might as well not answer at all.
Not an expert at this but I think it's because the codec with MX or VLC player isn't optimized for JB yet?
Is there a way to record my screen ? I have tried Z-ScreenRecorder and Screencast Video Recorder, but none of them worked. Oh and I want to record audio too if it is possible....
I've created a similar thread about capturing the MHL output over HDMI, but with no joy so far. I also need to get a screen recording, as high a quality as possible.
I guess we are out of luck until someone updates Screencast to work with Tegra3 , or finds a way round the built in HDCP on the video out.
Here's hoping.
List of Bugs & Errors in Latest FW 6.2.B.1.96
this can help all other DEV's
Bugs/Problems noted in JB 6.2.B.1.96
Logitech Unifying USB 2.4GHz mouse/keyboard still don't work. No error, just don't work (Worked in ICS)
HDMI 16:9 HW accelerated movie (720p mkv[H.264,AC3]) is displayed on a monitor/TV as 4:3 with no way to change the aspect to 16:9 tested with BSPlayer and MXPlayer Pro.
If set as Software Encoded the screen aspect can be set correctly, BUT the movie is no longer lag free and using SW encoding we see frames dropped to keep pace..
If the HDMI video setting is set to 'fine' a HW accelerated (Uses GPU to accelerate FPS) 16:9 aspect ratio video will only be displayed as 4:3 aspect ratio.
If the HDMI video setting is set to 'standard' a HW accelerated video can be displayed as 16:9 on an external monitor/TV.
Fixed since JB 6.2.B.0.211
Paid application Widget can be placed on home screen and remain there after power off/on.

didnt face any bugs yet,but the movement in video camera is bit slow compared to ics.to see it just move your hand fast.I noticed that its better when image stabilization is off,but still slow,no effects in the output though.very good update from SONY
bugs fixed for me since .200 update:
laggy hd video
bad performance
lags in high quality full hd movies
---------- Post added at 11:13 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:39 AM ----------
not a big issue, but the illumination doesn't blink as before during a incoming call
I got a bug when I started the camera a green screen showed up and when I pressed the home button the phone restarted..
It's great update!
Full HD recording fixed, 2G working really fine - I don't remember working this way before. Volume up and screen not lighting up should be fixed too as users said.
It's really cool update!

In my case that was the router's fault. When I got a new router, the Wi-Fi is crazy!
In Syria still 2G problem

Since version .200 there is no 3D Sweep Panorama function!!
Thought they would fix it with this version but...
Is it even legal to delete features?? i mean its even stated on the package that this device has 3D sweep panorama function!!
ps: video recording is still not so smooth like it was in ICS..
and that spinning world live wallpaper is missing but there is one called nexus..lol

FYI, 2G didn't work in .200 and .211 in Turkey most of the times, but now it works flawlessly.

I don't know if its legal or not, but it's terrible that SONY remove cool features like 3d sweep. That is simply wrong and speaks badly of the company, oh and btw i'm still on ICS because it's lag free and scroll is even smoother and it has 3d sweep ... For me everything works as expected in ICS thats why i choose ICS instead of JB

Yes 1080 video recording is still jerking sometimes..........also it takes too much time to focus object which is ruinning my video
^^ thanks for your comments.
Can someone please check if the fps in 1080p recording are now 29/30 like in ICS and not 18fps anymore?
if not im going back to ics...
thanks
The new picture effects they added very laggy.. why would they add that if not properly functioning...
I use SwiftKey and upon reboot this firmware (since JB actually) doesn't remember to keep it as the default keyboard and always goes back to the Xperia one. However, I also have Google keyboard installed and it will remember that one upon reboot. So maybe it's a Swiftkey specific issue with the S's JB firmwares?
i just checked it myself.
1080p recording is now in 24fps.
on version 200 and 211 it was 18fps.
in ICS it was 29 fps.
can someone confirm please?
My Acro S is running Beanstalk 4.4.278. Great rom so far but 1080p playback (specifically on MX Player) does not work. Freezes and reboots my phone when I try. 1080p recording with latest Google Camera works like a charm but its frustrating I can't view any of them. I haven't tried playback on any other video players though. I removed the video player that came with KitKat or the rom btw so I can't try that too.
Any help or advice?

Just tried it (since I had never tried it before you mentioned it) and it works fine. The video is a little juttery, but I can live with that.
Running BeanStalk v4.4.285, on the same phone.. Kernel is 3.4.0-Evovle-v1.11+ [email protected]
I think you might want to upgrade to the latest version - that might fix it.

Any notable bugs on 4.4.285? I might upgrade if that will fix the playback problem and if there aren't any annoying bugs..

There are two that are a bit annoying (again, not everyone has these though, so you might get lucky).
1. Sometimes when a call comes in, the screen will either stay blank and take a while to light up (by which time the caller has hang up)
2. Sometimes streaming a video online (with any player, not just MX) will crash and force the device to reboot when you try to exit watching the video.
These are the two major issues that I find on my phone. Never the less, I still prefer this version to stock, so I have been using it for more than a month now and I am very happy.
Hi guys, I recently bought a galaxy tab s 10.5 and I'm having issues with video playback in the native YouTube app. Basically every 5-10 seconds, I would get a micro stutter, as if the video is slightly jittery. It's definetely not buffering as the video has loaded well ahead already too.
I am using the samsung stock OS so 4.4.2 and I have installed all the latest official updates for both the OS and the Youtube app.
I have also tried a factory reset of the machine, clearing the cache and updates for the Youtube app and reinstalling. I've also tried forced GPU rendering and turning off hardware overlays in developer mode
Does this indicate there's an issue with my hardware ? It does not happen when i stream videos from my PC over wifi or any locally downloaded videos. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hmmm, never had this problem with mine when it was on stock. I usually had this problem when I underclocked my cpus and all that or when I am using to many appps.
The only thing I can suggest is use another app (viral popup https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Mata.YTplayer ) or take it back to be safe.

Thanks, yep the youtube videos would stutter even when i freshly restarted the tablet so nothing else really is running in the background. I have tried the viral popup app except it seems to play at a really low quality setting, ,ie 1080p is not available ?
Is there anything I can test to see if its a possible hardware issue ? I ran the Antutu benchmark and got 37k which seems in line for what's expect from this tablet. Does this help rule anything out ? Thanks.
Check processes, there's probably something in the background.

I dont think so. When you play games does it lag too? Ex real racing 3 etc? Because if it cant play youtube without the micro lag, that may affect other apps. I dont get any lag while I was on stock.
If any other apps lag while playing (not on loading screens) then it may be an issue. I never had any micro lag on mine so it may vary on how you see it. Of course we have custom roms that are way smoother (CM12) but I am unsure if your issue is hardware related or the way you see it. Hope this helps!
I got youtube stuttering too for months on my TabS ST800, I tried every tricks in dev options, nothing ever changed .
But one day i tried the CARDBOARD view in the YouTube app options and then return to normal 2D view.... motion became butter smooth up to 1440p60, for any video! If closing youtube app and restarting it, it is stuttering again, until opening again the cardboard view.
Here is a test video I used to validate stutter-free playback :

Good luck.

You, sir, are awesome!!! I had this problem for the last couple of months on my Tab Pro 10.1, tried everything to eliminate it. Going back to Stock or GraveD rom was slightly better but not really smooth either. I was beginning to lose my sanity switching back and forth between CM11, CM12.1 and stock-rom, trying different developer-options but was not completely satisfied in the end. This cardboard-step is a temporary fix i can definitely live with. But I'm surprised that not many people seem to be effected by this stuttering or they simply don't mind at all. Hope that google is going to fix this shortcoming in the near future but meanwhile...Thanks a ton mister :good:!

I was so happy too I spent a night watching again many videos I love ! I'm glad I could share that little joy !
To answer your question, it is a shame that people are suffering from the belief that "online" videos on computer, tablets or phone *must* somewhat stutter. Well ... even trans-galactic communications in Star Wars/Trek and other sci-fi movies are depicted with stutter and even analog (!) video sync and lines issues (in 2150!!). Stutter and other digital disorders have been imprinted in the modern culture because not much effort was given to understand (and implement) that we human are analog creatures requiring a natural constant flow of sound and light, not a "best effort" variable low frame sample rate due to "unavoidable" system interrupts between storage, cpu, gpu and screen. Remarkably, Apple hardware/software was always close to perfection due to their close collaboration with the computer graphics industry for tv and movies..
It is indeed so much enjoyable when colors, contrast, motion of a clean picture hit the brain which then do not have to interpolate, filter dynamically and overcome an unpleasant stressfull and therefore tiring "motion picture"
So far only Sony with its X1 graphical processor in TVs is IMO able to achieve a minimum of digital artefacts while interpolating and displaying moving pictures. HD was a attempt to increase resolution (but we lost many qualities that the oldest of us enjoyed with CRT tubes). UHD must bring "better pixels" back with constant higher frame rate, higher pixel resolution and higher color resolution and dynamic range.
I hope to say bye bye soon to "flicks" = flickering judderish stuttering color-ish moving pictures.
