[VIDEO] LG Optimus G Pro Tested with 5 Wireless Chargers - LG Optimus G Pro

Alright so these are not those cheap China chargers. Unfortunately, I didn't order any of those. These are available at large retailers locally or from Google in the case of the Google Orb (aka Nexus 4 Wireless Charger).
This thread will have to start out with just the WCP-700 by LG (which is commonly found at Verizon Wireless) and the Nexus 4 Wireless Charger (aka the Google Wireless Charging Orb).
My cord for the Nokia DT-910 was modified for use within a vehicle and the DT-900 cord (which is the same) is at work.
After getting the Incipio DualPRO shine, I did test this with the WCP-700 and use the WCP-300 regularly to charge it.

[How-To] Moto G wireless charging (Universal Qi Receiver)

I've received my universal Qi wireless receiver today. The receiver is smaller than I had thought and fits perfectly into the Moto G. Since our phone lacks internal preparation for Qi (like it can be found on the Samsung Note 2), the connection is made via a micro USB plug. The backdoor can still be clipped on without being disturbed by the Qi receiver pad or its flat band cable. Charging time should be about the about the same as charging the phone from a PC USB port that doesn't output more than 500mA.
This solution is obviously for those who don't need the phones usb port on a daily basis.
The adapter on the left picture (and in the video) is from ebay and is the one that arrived here first. I’ve changed the cable routing to remove the ugly bulge that was visible on my first picture. This adapter outputs a maximum of 500mA and can be purchased from ebay.
Make sure to purchase the "interface layout A, narrow interface up” variant.

17.Jan.2014 - The picture on the right shows an adapter purchased from DealExtreme, that arrived here yesterday. This adapter delivers up to 650mA and the flat band cable comes out of the lower side instead out of the backside which removes the need to bent over the cable.

Both adapters work well, so don't worry if you've already bought the one I've first reviewed. (I have both version in use on different phones)
Here is a small video that shows me placing the receiver inside the Moto G:

Update 13.02.2014
From my testing I can tell the following:
1. An unrooted Moto G needs to be screen locked (I use the pattern lock type) or it will refuse to charge due to the missing pins. You can unlock the screen while it is charging as long as you don't lift it from the qi charger. (tested on 4.3 and 4.4.2, DE and FR firmware)
2. Root in combination with dubidu's tool makes it more straightforward but is not required.

Should you wish to buy an adapter for your Moto G, make sure to get the "narrow-interface up" variant

Nice. Can you tell us where you got it from -- is it just one manufacturer making these?
Cheers.

Thanks. I had looked on fleaBay and it looks like they all have the same packaging. I imagine any qi wireless charger thingy should work. In theory.
anyone know if this would work through an otterbox case? or I guess if this would even work with one due to the fact the part that plugs in sticks out a little bit...
I've bought it here:

The auction uses the same pictures as used in the amazon offer posted by JCBomb, might even be the same seller.
This is cool! I just hope there's like another way we can integrate that wireless charger.
Just saw your post at android.hilfe and started looking for some charger, it's indeed a neat solution.

Are u guys using this wireless QI receiver? I'm going to buy one next month, D: . Just for curiosity, how much time do u guys spend to get a full charge with the QI
Guys i found this one at dx.com

Those kind of product are not so great are chaging, basically it's almost the same power that if you charge through uSB = 500mA.
What you need to check is the charging value, sometime it's :
- 400mA or less (avoid it, will take ages to charge),
- 500mA (just like your regular USB charger),
- 1000mA (great ones, will charge just like a wall charger, twice as fast as the previous model).
So the one at DX is great, but they're cheaper on ebay, plus you can choose between Black or White - http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...eName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
This one was the cheapest (around £15) I could find and works fine.

impressive
wow, so cool :good:
Am I the only one thinking about finding the plug they use with all the pins intact and integrating a micro sd card into it for OTG storage? Wireless charging and storage, all in one, and fitting under a case.
I had that exact thought about two hours ago. Throw NFC in their while your at it.
Sent from my XT1034 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I had actually started to do some verrrry preliminary research into something like it using a ribbon cable and another usb port, so you could plug the phone into a wall charger and have the usb/sd card piggybacked off the cable. Hadn't gotten very far though...job, kid, wife etc.......
Someone TAKE MY MONEY for it!! Especially since it seems we're all soon to be headed down the 'no sd card' path.
I just got a Moto G for my wife and Nokia Wireless Charging Plate DT900 is not working any ideas why ?
It's not working with one of the universal QI receivers? Have you try enabling the floating charging (see my post)

Hello.
The Moto G doesn't support Qi on its own, you'll need to rig it with an universal wireless Qi charging receiver.
You can buy them from ebay, dealextreme and some other china based stores. The first post contains a short installation video.
This one from dealextreme will work (Output up to 650mA):

as well as this one from ebay (Output up to 500mA):

[VIDEO] RavPower Portable Power Bank w/ QI Wireless Charging

So right before I sold my wife's Nexus 5, I had the opportunity to test it out with he RavPower RP-WCN11. It's basically a 4800mAh capacity portable charger like other ones on the market. You can attach a device to it with a USB cord like any other. However, it also has QI wireless charging capability.
I guess you could also say it's like a normal QI wireless charging pad that happens to have a 4800 mAh capacity battery inside.
I know others have referenced the product a few times. Here's a video with it in use.
My wife continues to use the power bank in the car and when we're walking our daughter around the neighborhood. It's held up pretty well.
Current price is $56.99 on Amazon w/ free shipping.

LG G3 Wireless Charging Problem

I have the lg g3 canadian rogers model. i have the qi sticker on the stock back cover and put it on the qi charging pad, nothing worked, i even tried moving the sticker around to make sure the pins are touching. then i bought the duracell powermat and the circle case hoping it would work, and still nothing when i put the phone on the qi pad or the powermat. does the rogers model not work with it?
Canadian variant is PI charging, I think it is a North American standard....Official Response from LG
Hi Albert. We have heard back from our LG business contact, and I apologize ahead of time as i don't think this is good news based on your purchase of a Qi case and charger. It appears that
the Canadian version of the G3 is based on the AT&T platform, which supports wireless charging using the PMA (Power Matters Alliance) standard for wireless charging. The confusion seems to stem from the fact that all other U.S. carriers of the product do use the Qi Wireless charging standard.
So the MTS G3 is wireless charging compatible, but you would need to purchase a PMA charger such as a Duracell Powermat, plus an LG PMA quick circle folio case. This case replaces the standard back cover, with a back cover that has the necessary contacts required for wireless charging. It also appears, based on feedback from our contact, that this accessory is not available from Canadian retailers, but can be sourced on-line. For example, below is a link to the accessory on AT&T’s website.

Albert, sorry for the delaying in clarifying this situation for you. If you have any other questions please let me know.

Wireless Charger

Has anyone tried any of the USB C Qi chargers that plug in the bottom and stick to the back of the phone or go inside a case like this;
Type C Wireless Charging Receiver, Nillkin Magic Tag USB C Qi Wireless Charger Receiver Chip for Google Pixel/Pixel XL/Nexus 6P/LG V20/HTC 10/OnePlus 3 and other USB-C Devices https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M11UT3V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_kyzuybBPW89RC
Probably going to buy the Axon but just thinking about accessories that I can get.
Thanks
I bought a Nillkin Magic Tag QI charger and Spigen case. So far I'm loving them both.

How long is that Qi charger? Does it protrude into the fingerprint scanner at all?

The cable is a little longer and when stretched out will block about half the fingerprint scanner. But the ribbon is flexible enough to fold over itself and move the whole charger down enough. I recommend using a case to help hold the charger in place.
I bought this QI charger in the mini size
Type C Wireless Charging Receiver, CHGeek USB C Qi Receiver Module Patch Wireless Charger Film for LG G5, LG V20, Nexus 5X, 6P, Pixel XL, HTC M10, OP3 OnePlus 2, Huawei P9 and other USB-C Smart Phones
and it goes underneath this case
ZTE Axon 7 Case, CoverON® [HexaGuard Series] Slim Hybrid Hard Phone Cover Case for ZTE Axon 7 - Green Neon
The combination fits and works flawlessly in the numerous QI wireless charger pads that I have scattered through the home and office and on the wireless charger pad built into my 2016 Toyota Tacoma. I replaced a Nexus 5 with the Axon 7, and the convenience of wireless charging with the Nexus was such that I wanted the Axon to have it as well. Of note, the mini charging pad does not go up as far as the scanner, so there is no interference there, and the charging pad is so thin that it is imperceptible under the case.
PS: I had to remove the Amazon links since the site apparently thinks I might be a spammer. You can google the item description text, which I copied and pasted from Amazon, and you should be able to find it that way.
