u guys think that it will be a good choice for me or not ?
This is an Android forum and more importantly an Android phone...what do you think people are going to tell you? Haha j/k
If it was apps you were worried about Android Market will probably overtake App Store in a year or two so I'd say go for it
It's personal preference but I'm sure you definitely wouldn't regret it. You seen Ice Cream Sandwich?!?! Daymmmm!
Yes, it will be a good choice.
Imagine the screen size only, that's enough to laugh about iPhone 4S tiny screen

I went from the iphone to the SGS2 and it didn't work for me I was told to try a pure google phone for what my needs were, I have not bought it yet as I'm waiting to see if it's going to be recalled or maybe get a phone from a fresh batch, the apps are somewhat different then on an iphone for an example is the pandora app for say if you turn it landscape you won't get the playlist you listened to during your secion(like you can't look back and see what you listen to and see all the album covers, some apps are better in android then on the iphone some I prefer some I don't JAMOP ,

Dude. Use a period or two.
The iPhone is the top-of-the-line iOS device while the Nexus is the same for Android. The 4S won't have a successor for at least 6 months, while the Nexus could easily cruise a year. That being said, both will be outspecced pretty quickly by quadcore Android phones. Try the Nexus out, IceCreamSandwich is the main feature, as is the HD screen. If you don't like it, go back to the 4S, or wait for some new Android phones. The 4S and Nexus are almost on par in terms of hardware, and are both flagship devices. Either one is a great choice, just depends on your UI preference.

We can't make that decision for you !, I didn't like the SGS2 because of the OS matched up with the hardware, The hardware is all there but it doesn't really work together with it's OS, It's not like how apple puts together their phone everything works like a well oiled machine, it's just not there for some reason, it's all a matter of how one notices it. This is my opinion and I'm hopping for a better phone experience this time around with google as the hardware picker and maker of there OS ICS and definitely not samsung the plastiqek phone maker, I would have liked LG or HTC make it. JMO like it or not
I just made the jump from iOS (3Gs, 4, 4s) to an SGSII, and it will be hard to go back, for me. Customization and larger screens were my main reason for jumping, and I haven't been disappointed. iOS still wins for the ecosystem and interoperability elegance, but I am happy with my choice.
On a side note, my SGSII is going back (bought an unlocked Nexus S) because like the 4s, it is not compelling enough to use my upgrade on for two years. I'll see what comes out in 2012 for an upgrade.

I'm buying this nexus outright and saved my upgrade for the iphone 5, I want the iphone 5 early shipped to me.
If you like to customize and do things like put ROMS, kernels, over clocking and such.
Android is now the way to go.......maybe in the past it was iOS but now they are pretty even.
Android is a lot better now especially with ICS....at least they finally decided to implement hardware acceleration -.- which is what iOS did since the beginning making it feel so much more fluid than android.
Anyways, if you sell your iPhone 4s, i would say get the GSII and save a few hundred bucks, especially since the Galaxy Nexus is costing more than the iPhone 4s even sells for. Then use that money when the GSIII or iPhone 5 come out.
I have both the iPhone 4S and Galaxy Nexus.
The iPhone 4S has superior build quality, camera and video recording, games, and vastly superior battery life.
The Galaxy Nexus has the best display I've ever seen, even better than Retina IMO! I can't believe people are bashing Super AMOLED HD or saying Retina is still way better. I have no complaints about the screen, its jaw dropping. Android 4.0 is the best OS out IMO as well. IOS 5 is cool and all, but I can't help but feel that Apple isn't innovating as fast as they should. Google literally redesigned and improved every aspect of Android in one update. In these past 4 years iOS looks nearly identical to how it did when it first launched, as well as many of the stock Apple apps. Every Google app got a giant facelift and improvement: YouTube, Gmail, Google Maps etc. And they look beautiful on this screen. The phone is pretty big overall but I'm getting used to it and its awesome. Performance is very good as well.
I've had the phone for roughly half a day and battery doesn't seem that good yet but I'll reserve judgment for a few more days.
I honestly can't believe Google improved Android this much in just one update. Its amazing.

I agree. People dog the 4/4s because they will shatter, but the build quality and materials are excellent. It doesn't feel cheap.
I liked the SGSII, initially, but it has always felt cheap and the big screen has terrible resolution. I realized that Android was what would keep me here. I'm looking forward to some premium look and feel Android devices to match the potential of Android OS.

In the smartphone game EVERY phone that comes out is eclipsed in 3-4 months as far as specs are concerned, that's just the nature of the beast now. The thing about the iPhone and the Nexus phones are that there is only one device made every year despite all the other ones that come out with newer faster hardware or whathaveyou. The Nexus phones were designed to have hardware and software work hand in hand more so than any other Android phone. Both of the previous Nexus devices are the only ones running 2.3.6 (to my knowledge - and the NS4G has 2.3.7) which is one update ahead of everyone else - brand new phones are being launched with 2.3.5. If you're gonna make the jump, you're going to want the pure Google experience.

I was going to say that LOL but he's also mentioning a phone that come out once a year samsung puts out phones ever three months
That's because of the timing it launched in. With 4 cores around the corner things will change fast .
But I have to say this to OP, me personally I have no desires to go into contest of who has the longer piss, what matters to me is the user experience, as long as it is smooth and fast I don't care about hardware much as long as it would support the latest software. Because overtime all the wow effect will diminish and you'll be left with the software.
I would change from the iPhone to anything just because of the tiny screen.

I left apple because iphone 4s wasn't an upgrade to me, I also wanted to try something different in life because I had the 2G 3G 3Gs 4 and wanted to see what else is out their and like I said the SGS2 was not for me and I would have turned back if someone didn't say give the google phone a try ( because of what I wanted in a phone ) So here I am waiting to purchase soon, just waiting for the first update and for the second batch to appear
from what I read on iclarified they said (speculation of course ) apple is working on a 4" phone That would be good and I hope they make both because a lot of people like using one hand when surfing and the iphone is great for that in size

Any company achieves (or has ever achieved) a high position will have that kind of badasses. The most annoying is Apple fans, next is Samsung fan. Sony and Nokia fans are different than not a lot as two companies above but somehow more crazy and ignorant.
I think currently LG's fans are the best in behaving:good:
I've had my E980 for 2-3 weeks now
It performs the way I would expect for having the same internals as the SGS4, with a larger screen. It freakin SCREAMS. I looked at the Note2, but its got obsolete hardware compared to SGS4 or E980. I would definitely say the E980 effectively IS the Note3 without the Samsung extras. If Samsung had done a simultaneous release of the Note3 (which they *should* have), I probably would have gone for that, but the E980 is working out just fine and I'm happy with it. I think LG scored a nice coup here. Why compete with the the smaller SGS4 head to head and lose, when you can release a Phablet with the same specs, and no competition for 6 months until the Note3 releases? They really need to advertise it though while they have an effective but temporary "monopoly" on the high end Phablet.
Observations:
Battery life has been awesome. I use it periodically during the day like normal, and its sitting between 70-80%. The 2.1A charger in the car has it fully charged in the 30+ minute drive home in the evening. This is a MASSIVE improvement over my SGSII where I would be at 30% at the end of a similar day and would take a couple of hours to charge since it didn't charge above 1A.
Screen is awesome! I got this over the SGS4 which I'd been planning on, since my eyeballs have had a recent and relatively sudden "degradation of capabilities". The combination of LARGE screen and sharp pixels is working out quite nicely for me to be able to see the text without having to make other compromises. (btw this getting older crap sucks) Thank goodness for variety, because if I was stuck on a tiny iPhone screen I'd be sunk by now.
It runs good on T-Mobile (at least where the frequencies have been refarmed like DFW, not sure about elsewhere). 4.78Mbs up, 1.7Mbs down for HSPA+ in Dallas. Unable to test LTE yet until more towers get lit up.
Application installs are almost all instant. Big upgrade from my SGSII. Blink and you miss the installation from Play.
Camera is proving to be pretty awesome and sharp. Definite upgrade from my SGSII. It focuses a lot faster, and I can do more rapid shots, which comes in handy when children won't sit still... Colours seem correct, or close enough, I'm not noticing anything wrong.
Still fits in my back pocket - YMMV on this one, but Levi's 36x34 can take it.
First phone EVER that actually fits comfortably in my hand. One handed operation is not compromised either for ME. However, this is another YMMV - folks with smaller hands WILL have a problem on this. My SGSII was ok, provided it had a case on it, and the same with the SGS3 and 4's that I've borrowed. But this is definitely better. If you're of the smaller handed set, this may not be the phone for you, but for those who have medium to large hands - take a look at this phone. it may be exactly what you've been looking for comfort wise. Viva la difference.
i'd agree with all the good things posted. it's a fantastic device. re: the camera sensor, i've noticed it has a hard time reading bar codes for apps, anybody else experience this?

I haven't noticed any issue on the barcodes, and I know I've scanned a couple in the last couple of weeks. I just gave it a couple of smaller ones off a Lenovo power supply that gave it a fit, but it still got them after a few seconds. Switched over to a magazine and it picked it right up (in low light even). For the app barcodes, those have been nearly instant as well. For all of the above, I'm using ZXing's Barcode Scanner.

OK, yeah, I've seen what you are talking about. Almost seemed like it focused on the WRONG area a couple of times. With that said, I've not noticed much difference over my previous SGSII. Although subjectively, its seems faster than my SGSII for getting a lock.

thats true.. but i think that if the SN3 comes out that it will be a failure. for one, a 6 inch screen is a big turn off. 2nd, benchmarks mean nothing even if it'll have the best specs when it debuts.
i think the OGP will lbeat the SN3 even when it comes out, despite the higher specs. theres gonna come a time when ram and processor speed will reach a point where it doesnt matter anymore.. like the laptop where chip manufacturers stopped making faster chips cuz laptops are fast enough.. theres no need to make cellphones faster now.
i'm gonna buy the OGP soon.. i wish there was a white version available in the USA though.

This is the one smartphone that I want and good old Verizon does not have it. Unfortunately Verizon has the best coverage in my area. I do not want the Galaxy Note 2 , so that is not an option with me. I will just hold off until maybe Verizon will get an LG phone with the same style and the same specs as this one. I don't like the pointed square corners of the LG phones on Verizon. The Optimus G Pro have the rounded corners. Looks great. I'm really sick that I cannot get this phone. I guess I will have a long wait on Verizon. Wish I could switch carriers.

Well note 3 has more power slightly bigger screen some more features. And is also roughly 300 more dollars. So it is ur call. The OGP is a great phone u won't be dissapointed specially for the money u can buy it. I won't switch to Samsung any time soon. Since the screen is much better on the OGP. And the OGP doesn't feel so big and wide like the Note 2 or Note 3. So it is ur call. Just try them both and decide.

i dont think the note 3 is wider than the OGP.. from wat i read and seen, the OGP is wider.
Took out my Lg Optimus G Pro and did a side by side webpage load this Friday at the att store around my house. To my surprise my phone was loading faster than the note 3. Did more test on different pages. Did WiFi and LTE and the same results. Huuuum! The only thing the Note 3 had was a better looking screen. As for games I don't play them. So the Note 3 might be better in this aspect. Pen is a plus. It is thinner to. Better screen. So I decided to keep my phone. As for you, your call!
Screen is preference. Because actually the lg screen is more accurate to colors and not so unreal in colors. Better in direct sunlight is the LG G Pro too. Direct sunlight isn't the friend of amoload screens and Samsung did already better on the note 3 screen but amoload screens are also known from image burnin and shatter box display of blacks when we watching movies. But it got a lot better on the note 3 screen. Also touch wix is pretty laggy. That's why the note 3 seems so laggy.

If you care about development, you should wait before jumping onto Note3. I'm getting one but I'm keeping my OGP. The note3 already has a giant wall infront of development unless you get the International unlocked model. It's called KNOX.

There's a huge difference in price. The OGP at AT&T is $439, $99 on upgrade. The Note 2 is $574, $199 on upgrade. The Note 3 is $724, $299 on upgrade. I really can't see anything in the Note 2 or 3 that warrants spending that much more money on it.
You also have to consider Samsung's support compared to LG. And we all know that here on XDA, Samsung devices are well supported by devs. It's the happiest place to be in.

Others and I think that the OGP is a great device and there is no need to pay so much more for only a few improvements or some extras that u basically get with software as well. I didn't compare it but already sites like android authority and other did. And they I just stated what they said. And ppl already compared the g2 with the note 3 and again the lg g2 seemed faster. It is just a known fact that touch wiz is somewhat buggy and laggy. It just is what it is. And that amolad screens have not as good direct sunlight visibility and also burnin is a known fact too. Other then that u really just have to see what u like more but also test said that the screen on the g pro and g2 are the best on the market as of now and since the note 3 is based on the s4 the screen won't beat the one of the g pro or g2. But I think u can't go wrong with either of the phones. Just u get more for a small amount of money on the G Pro compared to the note 3. That is double as much on money and only offers a few more things. If really any because both have there advantages and shortcomings.

I just compared my LGOG Pro to a Note 3 in shop......it felt really light to me i don't know maybe the weight distribution......screen is really clear and I had GS3 before so 1080p loked nice...i don't have problem with the colors......the back felt really nice and soft in hand...although the side chrome didn't look very nice to me
also the stylus felt really nice and writing was very accurate and smooth..........i really want to buy it but its too expensive at the moment and i hope it comes down soon also by then we have some really nice support...
also im in South Korea so I did actually use it
Yeah the real thing is that the price differential makes it a deal breaker. If it had been only $150 of difference you could have been suggested to go ahead. $300 is too much you can get 2 brand new nexus 7 2012 models for that or the one New 3g 2013 model $300.

OGP is better because of the price and that is the fact for most people. There is a reason why this thread was created and named LG OG Pro not Samsung Note 3. This is not a place to ask which device is better, people will say OGP is better in this forum because we choose this device over other phone. If you want to find out about comparison you can try website like gsmarena or android authority, in fact there are a lot of youtube videos that does that, simple as that unless you want to start a flame war.

So I have an upgrade available (currently using a Note 3) and I was wondering how people are liking this phone? I'm really struggling on what my next smartphone will be since there are so many good choices out there right now. Thanks!
It's hard to judge. I'm not familiar with the note 3, but I came from a gs4 and the g3 is worlds better. Depends on you though. But honestly if I were you I would hold out for a few weeks at least. New moto x, note 4, and end of October comes (rumored) nexus 6. All new phones come with only small changes in hardware, nothing gotta have and revolutionary. But I will say that so far I'm loving this g3. Bone stock was honestly a tad disappointing, but now I run skydragon ROM and kernel and with a few small tweaks this phone is near perfect. I wasn't a huge fan of amoled, it felt very neon and unnatural but I did love the deep blacks. Personally I'll probably never get another Samsung device again.

Check out this thread, where several others (including myself) moved from the Note 3 to the LG G3 and gave our opinions, views and takes on both.
I came from an S4 and I prefer the screen to AMOLED. Even though this phone is bigger than S4 it doesnt feel like it at all
I came from Verizon s4...and had that phone humming.... The g3 blows it away. My battery life record is over 70hrs...and I typically go 36hrs or more. I run ZoneROM and have it deflated as much as possible.

I'd really wait for the iPhone. Once they release the larger iPhone there's really not going to be a reason to be buying buggy unupdated android phones.

Except for the fact that it will still be an iPhone. Which a ton of people just don't like.

lmfao! you need to go to the iphone rom threads... oh wait... apple doesnt let you do that, my bad. Hey guess what you will get with the iphone 6 though... the same boring dated OS that they have had for years with a couple new textures and colors though.. oooooooohhhhhhhhhh. Go wait in line somewhere.
Anyway, to the OP. I have used samsung quite a lot (had an s2, s3, skiiped the 4, and a s5) and my wife has a note 3. IF you are going to use the "note" features, it might be worth considering. HOWEVER, if you dont need a stylus, this thing blows any samsung out of the water on pretty much every level. Software is better, hardware is better (mostly), the g3 is super fast, great on battery, has great ergonomics (the s5 felt more awkward to use than this).
I'm not sure where the right place is to put this question.
It's a real question for me, dominated by the fact that the specs look pretty similar (except no. Locked bootloader etx) , but the price will be significantly lower. Of. Course we don't have the facts yet, but I'm holding off until the nexus 6 announcement before pulling the trigger on one of them.

This is a very odd question to me. Do you want a high productivity phablet with the s-pen, touchwiz and a ton of features, or do you want a no frills stock Android device?
They are two extremely opposite phones.

In every Note forum there are always a slew of people who obviously are consumption users that don't need/want/care about all the features that, to me, are what make a Note a "Note."
Here's an interesting survey...
Clearly 35% would be better off without S Pen and 40% wouldn't miss it terribly if it weren't there. For them, like OP, any big screened phone would do.
Here's the current supposed specs of the Nexus 6...
The Nexus 6 is all but a secret at this point with a multitude of leaks telling us everything we needed to know about the handset. The smartphone is expected to be packing a 5.9 inch Quad HD display, a 13-megapixel camera with OIS, 3GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 805 chipset, a refined version of Android L (Android 5.0) and a mammoth 3,300 mAh battery. It could be shown off sometime later this month, possibly during Halloween. Google announced the Nexus 5 quietly during Halloween last year, so there’s no reason why the trend shouldn’t continue this year.
http://thedroidguy.com/2014/10/motorola-nexus-6-hits-fcc-certification-98187#z8pV1eRuP2vkzxdm.97It's pretty close to the Note 4. But... Google's camera's have always sucked, the display will most likely be decent but not fantastic, and battery life will probably be worse because, for some reason, Google has a hard time tuning battery usage on their own phones. Add to that it won't have expandable storage and most likely come in 32/64GB versions. Second but... The 32GB version will probably be $499-549 which undercuts the Note 3 by almost $300 which for those that could care less about S Pen and the faults I listed makes it a great value. That and it'll get updated directly from Google are its two biggest benefits over the Note 4.
My biggest issue so far in thinking about a Nexus 6 (or whatever it will be called) is the fact that Samsung/AT&T has been locking down the Note to the point where they void the warranty as soon as the knox is tripped.
That and the fact that the Note 2 is my third Samsung device and I want to try a different route.
They are the same, aside from the pen, which I never use on all three of my notes. And far nicer not to have all the bloatware I never used.

Sight unseen I'd bet anyone here the camera's worse, the display not as good, and the battery life poorer. Those traits are more or less "Nexus things" unless something changes this round. Now whether this time with Motorola it's different is a wild card. But there were a ton of issues with the first Moto X when it came out (I don't know if they all got resolved, I don't follow Motorola). And a potentially huge not "the same" is the lack of external storage. Want to show off full res vids on that spiffy new QHD display? You better have a 128GB external MicroSD, be on an old AT&T unlimited plan, or get on the "pay for 15GB, get 30GB" plan before it expires. I'm not bashing the Nexus 6 (especially because you can't bash vapor ) just saying they've never been the "same." Where they win hands down is value and that probably won't change this round.

Stock Android and Touchwiz are the same? I'm sorry, but I don't agree. At all.
IMO, the two devices can't be more different.
I'm not such a fan of touchwiz and the bells and whistles, that's all. And I usually load up a different launcher in any case. The decision for me will be based on the quality of the screen (which to be realistic, is probably a Samsung win...). I guess we will see.
By the way since my Note 1, I have bought and returned so many devices which the Samsung Note beat out for me. Same on note 2 and Note 3 (the last one being the g3). The Note has won every time. So far...

Yeah bro, I can almost bet anything that the Note 4 screen will kill the Nexus 6 screen. Not only are Nexus screens of lower quality compared to the competition (to cut costs), but it will also most likely be a LCD. Which I don't like compared to SAMOLED anyway.
I'm curious to see which direction you go, but the Note 4 is a killer package. I have played with it a few times at my local Best Buy.
Good luck!
I have gone into so many best buys to try out the Note 4 and I think it's lovely. ( I wouldn't buy the edge as I think it will be difficult to sell 2nd hand down the road.) But sometimes I need a change (and frankly the 4 is not that different to my Note 3). I'm sure I will buy both... But, Highlander, there can be only one (and as I mentioned above Sammy has won every other battle)...

DING DING DING. We have a winner!
It is puzzling to me that people are asking about Moto X and crap vs. a Note 4.
The Note 4 is an S pen enhanced phablet, half the questions are about plain old stock large screen phones. Different audience for the most part. I imagine there are people that will buy the Note 4 just for the size and never touch the things that make it what it is.
Go see nexus 6 section as there is a great discussion on Note 4 v Nexus 6
