I cracked the glass on my s3 right above my home button. On the motherboard or digitizer, it says gt i9300. I thought this was only for international models. I bought my phone new at sprint. Do they share some hardware?
Also i was wondering what is a good replacement glass

Maybe they gave you a refurbished one that had the front housing off a international.

That sign i9300 next to home button does not mean anything. Thats just a menu/back flex cable and it is the same on all galaxy's s3 (i9300, i9305, t999, i747, r530, i535, L710)
If you have your phone from sprint, yours should be L710. There is few ways of getting this done. Do it yourself using ebay kits or bring to specialist.
If you want to do it yourself there is 3 ways
1. Buy full assembly LCD screen with frame. Original part will cost you around $190~222 (make sure its L710 model)
2. Buy lcd+digitizer (without frame) will go for about 180 for the part. Installation on this much harder than previous option
3. Buy just a rellacement glass. Will cost you $10-30, few hours watching youtube videos, another couple hours doing the job, and hopefully you dont mess up the lcd and it still works ^_^
4. Bring it to local repair shop. Will cost somewhere between 100-275 depending on area/parts used/quality. Just look on google for something like "galaxy s3 repair yourcityhere"

Today was a sad day. I dropped my GNex when taking it out my pocket to get in my vehicle. It dropped faced down from waist height and landed on some rocks/concrete. It took a chip out the glass and shattered in a few places.
Everything still works which is pretty good I guess no problem with the touch screen
I was crushed when I picket it up and fist saw it. I have a silicon case on it and no screen protector.
I hate cases and screen protectors but if I can get this fixed I will probably use both.
My questions is what's my best options here. My brother got me the phone from UK I use it on TMobileUSA. Basically I have no warranty here and wondered if there is someone in the USA that replaces screens or can send me one to do if not majorly complicated.
My brother said Carphone Warehouse will fix it ~£100 but they send it out. Seeing I use my phone alot for work was hoping to be without for minimal amount of time.
Any ideas? thanks

Send it to Samsung. I've read they will replace screens for $160 or so with a two week turn around.

Yup, you will need phone tools too.. Also found online: Amazon, ebay, etc..
Then just search for a "tear down" and follow the instructions.
I had my Galaxy S2 display broken. Took it to a repair center and saw how easily they put in a completely new front! I don't know if it is just as easy with a Nexus, (and offcourse here only replacing the screen applies as the back is made of one piece of plastic) but it might be worth to look?
You can find a display on ebay by searching for: galaxy nexus front display
I know it is expensive, but shopping a bit around the internet might help?
Advantage of doing it yourself is obviously that you don't have to send your phone away and being phoneless

I ended up sending the phone to my brother back in England. Carphone Warehouse fixed it for ~£79.
But I was too impatient and just ordered a new phone before I sent it off. I now have a screen protector and case
Sucks to break the screen as it can break so easily and there is no easy way to get it fixed in the US with the GSM version bought overseas.

I have decided to share my experience in replacing a broken LCD on the Samsung Dart with you guys.
I noticed that the Galaxy Mini has its own section, but the T-mobile variant, the Dart, does not. So I am posting this in the general section and assume that the moderators will move it if the need arises.
DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACCURACY OF THIS INFORMATION. I AM NOT ADVOCATING OR RECOMMENDING ANYTHING. THIS IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. DON NOT CRY TO ME IF YOU BREAK YOUR PHONE.

This is a basic diagram of the Samsung Galaxy Dart. I did not plan to post this until I saw both the lack of information regarding the Dart, and the need for this information.
The Dart is held together by four main screws that can be see when the back cover is removed and a series of interlocking plastic clips.
Once the screws are unscrewed, a thick guitar pic can be used to seberate the rest of the body.
BE CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE THE ELECTRONICS WHILE SEPARATING THE CASE.
WARNING: DO NOT SEPERATE THE LCD FROM THE DIGITIZER UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING
IT IS BEST TO BUY A FRONT FRAME SCREEN AND DIGITIZER COMBO IF YOUR UNSURE OF YOUR ABILITY TO SUCCESSFULLY REASSEMBLE THE COMBONATION AND ACTUALLY GET IT TO WORK PROPERLY.
The LCD and digitizer frame are glued together.
ONCE AGAIN IF DOING A SCREEN REPLACEMENT IT IS BEST TO BUY THE COMBINATION RATHER THAN SEPERATE THEM.
MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE VOLUME UP / DOWN AND SLEEP BUTTONS IN THE FRAME BEFORE REASSEMBLY.
I am hoping that this cold be of help in the repair, and modifications of the Galaxy Dart.

Nothing I got the parts for free from an acquaintance.
You can generally purchase such parts very cheaply from www.dhgate.com, www.aliexpress.com, and www.alibaba.com. Even www.ebay.com would be a great source.
Purchasing a non working phone with a good screen would also be an option.
do you think that anyone can do it? How detail oriented in comparison to the iPhone screen replacement?

My phone took a fall last night from waist height onto a tile floor. I picked it up in horror only to find that the screen wasn't cracked and the only thing wrong was a green pixel in the notification bar. When I got home, I noticed some discolouration on the screen so I downloaded lcd test and sure enough there was a blue blob in the center of the screen and the notification bar was rainbows.
(excuse the webcam pictures, my phone is my main camera)

It was a bit worse than the picture shows, but it's usable.
Flashforward to this morning...
And that's on a plain white screen... It's barely usable at this point, and I assume it's just going to get worse.
Can I just replace the screen? Will that fix it? I was going to see how much samsung would charge to fix it, but I figured I'd ask here first.
Whoa. That is bad. I hope my SIII I9305 will always be safe. Have you looked on eBay for replacement screens?
Sent from my GT-I9305 using XDA Premium HD app
Yeah, cheapest I could find was $200, which is what I expected. Switching out the display should fix it though, right?
Better add insurance on that phone and send it to them to either fix it or replace it.

The only reason I don't have insurance on it is because I bought it on ebay. Also I'm not about to commit insurance fraud, thanks.

Samsung has a year warranty on all their phones.
If there's not a crack anywhere and no noticeable damage from it being dropped, you can simply open up live chat support on their website and tell them that the screen is going bad and you want to send it to get fix with warranty.

You do need to change it all.
I mean in Galaxy Note screen comes as glass + touchscreen like one part
Glass seems to be attached by glue
Sorry.
:crying:
If the touch screen is still working, you definitely don't have to replace the whole thing, just the glass on top which should cost only 30 dollars ish.
Sorry this happened to you

the glass and touch is one-part.
I just replaced the broken glass of my N7100 with a 30$ one from ebay.
It took me about 1.5h
You will need a heat gun and something to lift the broken glass of the actual display.
Start on top and work your way down, be very careful on the bottom of the phone, because the soft buttons are actualy glued to the glass.
My phone works ok now, i did get some small scratches in the display from the metal plyer i used to remove the pieces, but they are barely noticable when the screen is turned on.
Sometimes the digitizer misses a input, i only recognize this when playing a game with heavy touchscreen use, does anybody know a way to fix this..
Good luck!
Oh god.. $280 dollars!!!, might as well buy a used S3 then trade that for a note 2.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
The only Thing I know is, that you must replace the entire display because super / amoled displays hermetically encapsulated ,so that oleds not age as fast / oxidize. I Think you have to replace the whole one.
Durango
It IS possible to just repair the glass..

Get in contact with Samsung Services in your area. They sometimes have deals where you get the display changed for about $100 including shipping. Be careful though. If they do not have a deal on it will cost you about $300 (US).
I dropped mine after owning it less than 10 days and had it repaired for $100 and they even sent it back with a battery! I sent it without one
Amazon is selling GNII for $100 right now.
Besy Buy will price match.

Hardly an option for someone without an upgrade/adding a new line....that is contract price
If you want to replace the screen only...
Check out this item I found on eBay: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=390519482458
Or the whole digitizer and screen is 200-300. There is a user here that sells the digitizer and screen.

Why do people carry this device without a solid rubbery bouncy bumper case on it? You are just asking for it. So no case no insurance? Geesh.
