I tried everything, got my phone rooted, it is unlocked (its a Telus phone but using it with Rogers). I can't get into recovery mode no matter what I try, I always end up with the dead droid screen with an exclamation point coming out of his chest. Sometimes it just gets stuck in the LG logo (thats when I need to go into download mode and reflash the .kdz).
I don't know why I can't get this working, I wanted to use a custom ROM but can't even get to CWM....
Check post #3 for fix...
I am having the same problem.
...Anxiously waiting on some expert advice here.
I got it working and currently on a custom ROM. I fellow member gave me this info:
To root it: follow the instructions right here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2181103
To unlocked it and install Recovery, just search for FreeGee app (from app store).
I've rooted it successfully and tried the FreeGee app, however, after the FreeGee completes and I reboot it gets stuck on the LG logo.

So you probably see these types of threads all the time, but this one is different--
So the phone is a T-Mobile G2, Yes, It is Rooted, and S-OFF.
Long story short, I rooted the phone fine, but I cannot reboot into recovery.
I have the newest CWM flashed. It is version 3.0.0.5. When I try to boot the phone into recovery, it simply gets stuck on the HTC Logo screen. But, it is not bricked, but if I remove the battery, and put it back in, the phone boots and its fine. One more time. The phone is S-OFF and rooted.
The only thing I can do is flash CM 2.5.1.3...... 2.5.1.4+ do not work.
I just want to know WHY its doing this. Its my friends G2 and I have rooted mine the SAME exact way, and its fine. I have tried factory resetting it, but it doesn't work.
PLEASE TELL MY WHY.
EDIT*
I'm trying to do this process in ROM Manager- I also have tried flashing it more than once.

If you can boot up normally, load rom manager (download from market), and go to install alternate recovery, and install any alternate recovery. Then when that is complete, go back and install the Clockwork recovery version you want on top of the alternate.
What happens is SOMETIMES recovery will get messed up while installing, and you'll get exactly that, loop at the HTC screen.
If you cannot reflash an old, then the proper recovery through Rom Manager, you can do it via fastboot with your computer and USB, there are a few guides on the developer forum on how to do that. If you need i can try to dig up the fastboot recovery method guide later... but really, if you can boot up, Rom Manager is your best/easiest bet.
Yeah, I'm trying to do it using ROM Manager. and It still doesnt work. Ive rooted- unrooted and did everything, idk what I'm doing wrong. I tried flashing the new recovery like 4 times, it doesn't work for me. Thanks for the reply!
Hi all
I unlocked and rooted my Galaxy Nexus (Verizon) phone months ago and recently have struck a very weird prob. I had been swapping ROMs for a while, when recently the phone bricked on a ROM switch and would not go past the loading part of any rom I tried. I used RootKit to flash it back to the manf. Rom and that seems to have worked. The problem is though that my phone can not update (to manufacturer jellybean update, It starts but then hits red triangle android) or even flash clockwork recovery image. Every time i try any Recovery installer it just freezes up and says the app is not responding. Additionally though I have rooted and unlocked the phone and have superuser app, root checker tells me my phone is not rooted.
Please help
Thank You
1) stop using toolkits. you have no idea what it is doing, and sounds like it didnt really root your phone
2) return your phone to stock with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895
3) root your phone with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529058
So, i scoured the forums, searched for my error code and nothing...
I have a new E980 that I rooted, installed CWM on and left the stock ROM. Earlier today, I get a notification for an OTA update.
I figured I didn't desperately need root, so I unrooted through SuperSU, and said to hell with it, and accepted the update.
Phone reboots into CWM and is now only booting into it over and over.
I looked up how to recover from it, and I've been trying to flash it using LG Flashtool ver 1.5 and everything goes fine until I actually plug the phone in with download mode on and LG FT in the "Ready!" state. LG FT then starts to flash it, goes to 3%, immediately to 100% and then fails after 5 seconds. Error code F0000002. I tried everything over and over again and I get nothing.
I have my COM port set to 41 and LG Flashtool set up properly according to the tutorials.
Any ideas?
I had to use the LG R&D test tool to flash the panama rom then root & install CWM. With freegee and then restore my stock.E980 AT&T backup. Kept getting a "Previous loadfailed" error with LG flash tool.

[Q] LG E980 bricked during interr. OTA on rooted stock phone. AT&T want to go stock
Hello All!
Call me completely retarded if it's warranted, i'm usually better with these things. here is the current situation:
(1) LG E-980 Optimus G Pro - Stock AT&T ROM. Never an OTA updade, purchased 01/2014 in MD, USA.
TWRP v2.6.3.0 installed. Rooted. SuperSU and busybox, current. TWRP "restore" does not restore from the full backup i had performed. Stuck in a boootloop between "LG Logo, and then quickly in the top right corner "Secure Boot Error Cause: Device UnLock, So Boot Success!!!" and then it's off to TWRP in recovery. Any advice there would be foremost appreciated, as that'd allow me to properly restore to pre-brick state, and install CWM, if it's more reliable, etc.
I can get into Download mode, and have followed THIS post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302660
but I had problems getting my laptop to assign the cell a "COM Port"
and besides Download Mode, there's ADB Sideload in TWRP thats usable, no? should I use this and how is this possible?
I've a few backups, TWRP and CWG, and also a stock .tot and .dll from the above mentioned thread. Does anybody know how to get past the "secure Boot Error" bootloop and get ANY ROM installed? ANY help would be much appreciated!
I've been at it at least ten hours, and realized I probably should have asked here fist banging my head against the wall, this is a wonderful phone, and i'd hate to see it dead, i mean it's literally ALL there still. TWRP recovery has a file manager.
On my desktop (and on the device) the TWRP back-up files are there, just shy of four GB, and i've also grabbed the stock .tot file, and i would LOVE someone to give me a hand straightening this particular mess out, and i'll offer another a quid pro quo in a field i'm vastly more well-versed in.
Thank you for reading the FNG's post. Greetings!
Ryan
you got in download mode by pressing volume keys and pluging in usb?
coz it dosent work for me
Please don't refer me to any more threads or forums........
I'm sure this has been done and done and talked about but I've been reading the **** out of forums and comments for a few hours now and trying to unroot my Sprint LG G2.
I had it running stock like a champ. rooted it. worked great. then I was attempting to flash lollipop and it required a recovery update (No Problem) I downloaded the correct files and bam! it says your phone is not rooted this requires a root (or something like that) I was already rooted SuperSU installed and root checker said I was fine. so what the hell I swipe to root while inside recovery and it goes to some black screen with tiny text saying fastboot: processing commands and won't leave the screen. I tried booting into recovery and same thing happens. Tried to reboot normal and I'm stuck on the LG logo with my led flashing between blue and green slowly. I CAN boot into download mode and I'm following this
http://pastebin.com/WTm1xFXz
and this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2687929
to unbrick but having this error "Failed PreviousLoad()
Did I not get the right .dll file? I doubt it cause I only saw one...or is it the wrong .tot file? there was 3 or so

When i'm in download mode the phone does say I am rooted. is there a way to just re-flash recovery and restore from my backups I did before all this? if I have to wipe this thing clean and start over I don't really mind I just need to get my phone back haha this is the first time this has ever happened to me and I consider myself tech savvy so idk what I did here (except re rooting in recovery like an idiot) thanks so much!
First question, is the download mode you see with a small status bar or the big one?
If you have the big one, download mode should work. The f flash software will verify the tot file. If that goes through you should be golden.
When it asked you in TWRP to root, that is a message telling you system or ROM file did not take.
If you want cm12, use zv8 tot. Root, auto-rec, update TWRP with blastgator bumped TWRP 2.5.1. Flash cm ROM or aosp, then gapps. And go
