[Q] Stuck on current ROM cant update or switch - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi all
I unlocked and rooted my Galaxy Nexus (Verizon) phone months ago and recently have struck a very weird prob. I had been swapping ROMs for a while, when recently the phone bricked on a ROM switch and would not go past the loading part of any rom I tried. I used RootKit to flash it back to the manf. Rom and that seems to have worked. The problem is though that my phone can not update (to manufacturer jellybean update, It starts but then hits red triangle android) or even flash clockwork recovery image. Every time i try any Recovery installer it just freezes up and says the app is not responding. Additionally though I have rooted and unlocked the phone and have superuser app, root checker tells me my phone is not rooted.
Please help
Thank You

1) stop using toolkits. you have no idea what it is doing, and sounds like it didnt really root your phone
2) return your phone to stock with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1626895
3) root your phone with this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529058

[Q] Problems with trying to update to 4.2.2

I have a sprint phone and am trying to update my phone to 4.2.2. A few months ago when I first got the phone I had attempted to root it. Long story short, it totally didn't work (i accidentally installed verizon root), had to use odin to reinstall my radios and whatnot. In the end, I decided to just not root my phone.
However, I think i am screwing my phone up to the point that it won't update. Whenever I try to let it update, it goes into (what i imagine) is the recovery mode where it shows a picture of the android bot with a red alert sign as if there is an error. Furthermore, I went in to fastboot and tried to go to recovery but can't (it shows that same android with it's front open and an error sign on it).
I am not even sure where to start here. Any advice? I tried to reinstall my recovery using the nexus toolkit but that didn't work.:crying:

Rooting from stock MC3 firmware

I am planning on rooting my friend's stock i317 running the MC3 stock firmware. He recently got a carrier replacement i317 due to a hardware issue but I had also previously rooted his other i317 and installed a CM10.2 nightly ROM. Upon using the same method of rooting his first phone on the new one, I ended up soft bricking his second phone. I basically used ODIN to flash a few different recoveries but when I would boot to recovery each time then the Galaxy Note II logo would start flickering for a few seconds and then the screen would go blank. I tried using ODIN to restore to JL2 and upon successfully restoring, I couldn't get past the boot animation. I told my friend to replace the phone again as I couldn't even get the phone to boot up successfully no matter what I tried doing to fix it. Maybe I had to find and ODIN the MC3 firmware to successfully boot the device so please let me know what I did wrong which prevented the device from booting successfully.
I don't know whether there was recently a major AT&T firmware update that changed the security on the device which prevented previous methods of root from working so please update me on any changes. My friend just got a new i317 today and I would like to root it successfully as the AT&T warranty center was nice enough to replace his phone but had to void his warranty due to looking at the flash counter. I just found an app called Framaroot which looks much simpler to use

I have been rooting and flashing ROMs on various Android devices for a long time now so I am up for using any root methods no matter how advanced they may be including using ADB. I did not have enough time to research about the i317 so it was my fault that I could not successfully root his device. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you

Add I prefer TWRP recovery over CWM!!
From everything you said you did it sounded right. Cuz you even tried going back too the original firmware that was shipped with the device!! But I didn't seed that after you flash the Rom,, did you try to do a factory data reset. Sometimes that's all it takes to fix that bootloop problem.
One other thing if you can get into download mode then the phone is fixable. Think it was just over your head on the process on how to get it back to fully functioning... lol
We've all been there. Think it's because we panic when something isn't working the way we want it TO..

[Q] AT&T Galaxy SIII (SGH-I747) will not boot past Samsung logo

I have been using the i747z ROMs for quite some time and after trying a bunch of other ROMs I always reverted back to theirs. So when their 3.0 version came out with Android 4.3 I installed it, using ClockWorkMod recovery. Right after it installed, CWM displayed a message about the boot loader and to fix it. So I went ahead and did that (Don't really remember what the message was) What I know is that I lost root. Also the phone could not connect to the mobile network, only on Wifi. So this morning, I factory reset the phone again, and attempted to root the phone with Odin with CF-Auto-Root-d2att-d2uc-samsungsghi747 (which I had used when I first rooted the phone). Now the phone doesn't boot past the 2nd samsung logo, it starts out with the Samsung logo with the blue circle around it, then the AT&T Rethink Possible and then the plain white Samsung logo. Also, the LED has a slow blue flicker.
I can get the phone into download mode and I have used Odin to attempt to load the stock firmware and the stock bootloader. But after restarting the phone I can't get past the same screen described above.
I am pretty sure this is not related to the i747z v3.0 ROM but rather something a miss with the order in which things need to start in Android. I have done some reading on that but I am not sure what I need to do to correct this soft brick situation. ( I have googled "soft brick" as well)
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

After flashing through odin did you format data?If not try it.
Go into recovery and wipe data.
**SOLVED**
Thanks xXFl4sh, I had tried that.
Solved!
Alright where do I start? How about RTFM Some how I had missed the part about flashing a bootloader and a modem after the ROM. Not recalling having to do that before, I skipped right over it. Once the recovery CWM 6.0.3.1 was finally loaded, getting the flashing the ROM, the bootloader and the modem was easy as usual.
The key was having to use Odin to install a recovery in .tar or .tar.md5 format since I could not access a Recovery Mode on the GS3, as well as a rooted stock image (I used root66_ATT_I747UCDLK3.tar.md5 which is a rooted Android 4.1.1 for AT&T) For the recovery, I couldnt' find a .tar or .tar.md5 for ClockWorkMod (did find a utility to convert it, but didn't want to introduce another variable into the mix) so I used one from Team Win Recovery (v2.6.3.0) and with that I loaded the CWM recovery. Once all of that was in place, I proceed to factory reset, clear data, cache, system and then flash the new ROM, bootloader and modem.
In all of this I learned quite a bit about the whole process and how to narrow down possible resolutions. I still see the "Rom may flash stock recovery on boot" message after flashing either a ROM, bootloader or modem, but just backing out without answering Yes or No seems to work. Also (and this may be related, I don't see the option to restart in recovery from shutdown menu). Don't really know what that's all about for now, and honestly don't want to mess around (at least for a while)
I know the steps are general, but I hope this can help some else if they get their devices in a soft brick situation. As for the i747z v3 ROM with 4.3, I really like it, everything works (Wifi,Blutooth, tethering) and the battery seems good as well.
Thanks!

phones neither rooted or unrooted

My cousin rooted my galaxy s3 a year ago, everytime i turned my phone on after the samsung logo it showed a hot power logo, then after a while i decided to unroot my s3 by myself i dont think it worked as the hot power logo still shows and i cant update my software it says my phone has been modified, but when i check root checker it says my phone is not rooted?, i can not open superuser or framaroot so im totally baffleded iv been trying too look all over the internet and cant find anything thats like what im stuck with
.
Please could you help me if you can,
Thank you very much in advance
Do you have Superuser installed (not sure if root checker works with or without SU)? Also, do you still have a custom recovery (TWRP, CWM, etc.)?
If not, try installing it from the market and see if you still have root. The boot image didn't get replaced with the stock one when you unrooted.
The best way to set your phone back to a stock unrooted (with counter reset) IF you are not running 4.3 following the instructions in billard412 thread linked below:

V410 7.0 LTE bricked

Ok guys I am pretty sure I fubar'd my tablet.
I am stuck in a recovery loop. When I start the tablet it just goes back into recovery. Which if I still had TWRP I think I could still do something, but I flashed cyanogen recovery trying to flash cm13 since I cold not get anything else to work. I cannot boot into download/firmware update screen. The screen just flickers a little and goes dark.
A little background:
Started when tablet forced install of 5.0 update and I was in a recovery loop. I flashed 410 test build, rooted, flashed twrp, installed stock rooted ROM. Everything was fine. Then tablet did it again, this time I just flashed rooted ROM and factory reset. Even took the steps to fix the white lines and storage issues. Was working fine. Got home a few days ago and I was in a recovery loop again. But now I don't have the bootloader screen/download mode/firmware update screen (whatever you want to call it) so last night i tried to download cm13, Gapps and cyanogen recovery with no avail.
I can access adb on my PC while in recovery, but when I try to access ADB shell I get unauthorized something or other. Because I cannot authorize USB debugging, because ROM won't boot. I tried to flash stock rooted ROM from cyanogen recovery and it says not signed or something like that.
Does anyone have any ideas? I really think I have screwed the pooch here.

if you have a stock recovery image flashing it is easy, i had a LOT of troubles with my v410 and still am working with it. i have mine rooted, just with TWRP though, i cant use xposed framework, which negates why i rooted this in the first place. anyway, through much grit and determination flash your stock image after wiping what needs to be wiped and doing all other necessary things. Then, you must download kingo root, supersu, superuser. flashify would help with the flashing i hear, but it has troubles with the v410. kingo root was an apk i managed to find buried under a million viruses on the 34th page of google..or something. rooted mine in one click, from stock to reboot to twrp root.. many glitches.
I need help myself, deleted my "Phone" system app, causing me to lose connectivity with my data plan. cant seem to restore it, and flashify nor twrp has been able to flash a custom recovery, or a backup, im at a loss.
Help? We seek the same thing.
Ok but how do I flash the stock recovery image. I can't use fastboot. ADB says I am unauthorized.

I am at a complete loss. I am by no means a developer, but I do know my way around. I really think I have FUBAR'd this one.
Kind of stinks, I give up. Anyone want a bricked v410?
