I can't get WatchON to install does the remote control even work with cyanogenmod yet?

No. Remote doesn't work, and even then I know back with sense its apps don't work without its framework. So a sense TV app wouldnt work with aosp

If you don't flash a Samsung Touchwiz Jellybean based rom you will find that most
all of those samsung jellybean apps will not install either.
Most every Samsung Touchwiz app like WatchON and all the others like Hangout,
S memo, S health, S translate, S voice, Samsung link, Voice search and others will
not work or install on any cm10/aosp/aokp roms.
Also as you most likely already know there is no wifi calling feature in any of those roms.

There's an app called Smart Remote for Galaxy S4 doesn't work either

IR sensor doesn't work yet. There is another thread for cm10.1

Hangouts is just an updated Google Talk.. it's not limited to TW only. Unless Hangout and Hangouts are two different apps.

The ir sensor didn't work on any aosp rom, it only works on touchwiz rooms

People really need to learn the difference between an AOSP ROM and TouchWiz ROMs before flashing and complaing TW apps do not work.

Actually, it's more correct to say they will not work on a non-Samsung kernel.
The IR blaster *works* in CM11, for example... But WatchOn is looking for the Samsung driver, and it's not there... Ergo, it runs (it is NOT touchwiz dependent) but it does not emit IR.

WatchON does work on CM 10.2, I've used it as a remote with that ROM--it was the only Samsung app that came with the phone that I liked. With CM11 (a 4.4 ROM) it says it's not compatible.

Just tried Samsung WatchON v7.12.1.8 (apk downloaded from the web given that Google Play Store doesn't allow me to download it) on my Samsung S4 GT-i9505 (rooted) with CM11 (cm-11-20150316-NIGHTLY-jflte) and IT IS WORKING like it was with TW 4.4

Got it.
This sounds like a rule. If that's the case why don't we ask admins to set an auto-close option for threads that old? If the thread is still open I would assume it is still allowed to reply so, next time it will be someone else replying and you'll need to tell him the same thing.
Does it sound fair to you?

Ditto.
If it's such a nono then why don't these old ass threads close.
Oh, I know, maybe it'll help someone down the line, well then why chastise for adding to the thread?
Sometimes I think xda stands for something else.

[App] Stock FM Tuner App for Galaxy S II with CyanogenMod 9?

Hello everyone, was wondering if the stock FM Tuner App would work in the latest nightly builds of CyanogenMod 9.
I've seen that there's a Spirit FM app that according to some dowa work with the nightlies however I'd like to try the stock one.
If someone could post a copy of it here would be awesome!

Hy. Maybe you have heard that stock samsung apps are locked on samsung only ROMs. It is quite complicated to make a stock samsung app work on cm9.
At first you can't even install the stock samsung apps and if you copy them in system/app they won't appear in app drawer.

[Q] Samsung apps and CM 10

Hi men,
Just a question. I wonder why the Samsung Apps (like Snotes, etc....) dosen't work in CM 10s rom.
Defintily i realy love CM 10 but the plus of our GN7100 is the Spen. So i tested all the 3rd party apps like GNote, Google agenda etc...but the Spen is not so integrated than with The others ROM
Is there any possibility to see in the future the Sapps on a CM Rom ?
Thanks by advance for your answer
I also want the apps to be in cm 10

No. Period.

Those apps needs proprietary code embedded in touchwiz framework in order to work.. So you most likely won't ever see those apps running outside touchwiz

Every cool feature you see on touchwiz are tied to touchwiz framework... Best you can do its to get a bloat free minimal custom touchwiz rom, put some launcher nova like on it.. Use the AOSP icons, and that's the closest you will be to have sort of AOSP sized and themed rom with touchwiz features

AOSP ROM and S-Pen apps

Hi, I will get my Note 2 in the next days and before I get it I'm reading a lot about how to flash ROMs, I've always had Motorola phones so Samsung flashing is a completely new world for me. I've read that if you flash an AOSP based ROM you will lose all the S-Pen apps and stuff, obviously I will test all those apps before I flash, but I really don't like the TouchWiz interface so in the near future I will change it to AOSP, is there a way to install all those S-Pen/Samsung apps in a fresh AOSP ROM?
Thanks!
No. But you can download papyrus from the play store. Its a note taking app. Its mentioned tons of times in tons of posts that spen apps will not work or be in aosp ROMs because they are touch wiz based.

Thank you! I Will try that app when I get the phone.
You can also stay on a tw rom and just use a different launcher. Then you are not stuck with the tw interface, but can still use the s pen apps

Any way to get Samsung apps to work on Google Edition ROM?

I know that GE doesn't come with Samsung Apps. Thought that it may be possible since GE is touchwiz. Only app I'm really interested in is WatchOn so I can use my phone as a universal remote. I've tried IR remotes from the Playstore but they never really work.
If anyone has a mod I would be very interested or even a different remote app that actually works.

It might be possible to sideload the WatchOn .apk if you can find it online somewhere. I'm not 100% sure of that though, since WatchOn is a proprietary Samsung app.

GE is not Touchwiz. Watch on will not work on 4.4 (aosp, GE whatever) it will need to be updated. Watchon works on 4.3 GE ROMs. I use smart ir it is in the play store, it works on custom ROMs 4.2, 4.3, 4.4. It is on sale for $6.99.

Watch on or Galaxy S4 Universal Remote
I use Galaxy S4 Universal Remote on GE 4.4.2 (Danvdh). Works like a charm.

[Q] AOSP ROM and S-pen

I'm looking for a tablet for note-taking on PDF files in class/meetings.
I found Surface Pro is perfect for that but I'm an android guy using gmail/hangouts all the time. Someone suggested Note 10.1 but I prefer AOSP. I have several questions.
1. If I install custom ROM, can I use S-pen for regular apps with palm detection? (Note-taking on PDF is my main objective)
2. If I use stock TW ROM, can I remove Samsung Gallary app? It is not compatible with my DLNA devices.

You would have all of the TW features but you can install this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2962520 which is very close to AOSP. Search that thread for S-Pen and there is a another thread for creating some of the TW features on an AOSP rom.
You can also try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2793898 which is a modded TW rom. Chromecast works well with stock Roms.
