They can upgrade it via software?

Nope. Not possible

Do you have the page for the original protocol versions upon launch? GSMarena doesn't list versions and it infuriates me to no end that neither Sony nor Google bother to upgrade AVRCP.

Isn't there anything to do with hardware?

You do not just talk without researching. Xperia P got updated to 3.0 because the Bluetooth module is capable of 3.0 with firmware update.

Ok just checked it too and compared A2DP, AVRCP, Handsfree and Headset profile versions. All are the same as the launch specs under the 2.1 bluetooth protocol.
Move along everyone, nothing to see here.

Works great.

The feature of displaying song titles is part of the Bluetooth profile AVRCP (since version 1.3). My old phone (X10 mini pro) had Bluetooth 2.0 or 2.1 (can't remember) with AVRCP 1.0. So it could not display song titles. After installing CM7 on that phone, its Bluetooth stack still was 2.x, but the profile implementation of AVRCP was 1.3. From then on it could display song titles. I guess for our Xperia (acro) S/ION it's something similar.
Regarding Bluetooth 3.0, as far as I know it cannot do much more than 2.1 but use other wireless channels (like WiFi) to increase the data rate (see Wikipedia) -- it seems possible to me, that this is something you can upgrade by firmware and driver. Real improvements to the actual Bluetooth device come with Bluetooth version 4 (like the low-power profiles). And that is something that cannot be upgraded just by software.

3.0 ?Possible?

lol

With the new firmware (JB) we CAN'T record video! And you are excited to get BT3?!?!? LOL

4.2.2 Firmware Broke 3rd Party App HW Decoding

Have you noticed that some 3rd party apps stopped working after the latest update? TuneIn Radio refuses to play anything... complains of internal decoder error. MX Player is asking for the installation of the decoder support add-on, which it never did before.

I hope not, or I will stay on 4.1.2
Doesn't seem to have affected my MX player at all, no prompts for codecs
Wow really? There is no way I'm the only one experiencing this. I contacted TuneIn Radio, still waiting for a reply...but it worked perfectly on 4.1.2 and still works perfectly on my Nexus 7 with 4.2.2.
Tried Tune In radio and no problem either. Using the free versions of both.
I'd suggest removing and reinstalling both from the store.

I can confirm I have the same problem with Tune In Radio Pro. Re-installed app but the problem remains. No reply from Tune In support.
Great.
I uninstalled TuneIn Radio Pro and reinstalled...same problem. I then installed the free version and it worked :silly: No clue what changed in the 4.2.2 upgrade that broke something the in Pro version.
I've had the same issue with Tunein Pro on my XZ since updating to 4.2.2, the free version works fine. I contacted Tunein support and they asked me to send a log file from my phone using the DeviceDoctor app. We'll see if it helps them track down the issue

Tune In Pro just solved this problem with latest update, so it is not Sony's fault.

I appear to still be having an issue with the latest version (7.5). However I recieved an email from tune in today about the problem.
' Hello
Thank you for contacting us.**We are aware of the issue on these devices and are actively working with Sony's technical team to remedy it. *Attached is the APK of TuneIn Radio Pro version 7.4. *Please let us know if you are able to install it directly to your device from this email. *Thanks for your patience.
Sincerely,

TuneIn'
A working version was attached but unfortunately it is against forum rules to post pro versions of app's. So I'd recommend you send them a email. Sorry guys
At least it appears they know about it and are fixing.

Polar H6 compatibility

hi does anybody know if the Polar H6 heart rate monitor is compatible with our galaxy s3.
i keep reading this whole smart ready thing but all ive seen so far is only newer android phones are smart ready. does that include ours.
not yet.. Google needs to implement native support for bt 4.0. BLE before it'll work w/ tje phone properly.
it won't work w/ apps like endomondo or runtastic.
but I read that they're baking in support soon.....

so this is a google problem not a samsung problem.
does that mean it might work with 4.2.2
thank you for the fast reply
It means it will work whenever google announces that it works or a newer version in the future suddenly supports bt4.0 ble.

PS3 controller via OTG & bluetooth (Ridge racer)

video I made
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgQ_Ef11HOk&feature=youtu.be
edit: its the bulletproof kernel that enables it,
works via bluetooth now
Some Infos would be nice. You use a special Software for it?

Maybe the 4.3 BT works with the ps3 controller? I don't own the controller so I don't know.

Stock 4.3 GPE rooted rom with the latest bulletproof kernel thats it.
I'm on viperOne ans this Rom is more important than using the ps3 controller
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Let's hope 4.3+Sense will keep that!
It's work also in MIUI By Adyscorpus (android 4.1.2)
i already test it with this rom and in OTG AND BT it work (in Bt with sixaxis controller app)
Works on the Google play edition yea, always knew that was going to happen, but it's sense that we've always had trouble with.
HTC Has been plagued by it since the Hero.
Was speaking to a HTC dev yesterday about it and he said he's not sure but it could be because of the kit that they have which works over BT.
Seems like a rotten compromise to me.
The Bluetooth stack HTC uses, shows your song info incar, and such, and has since my evo3d days, android is just getting this feature in 4.3 that was always my belief as to why they are different

Your media apps or modified framework doesn't matter. The fact that you're running ICS already says everything. ICS is a bad choice if you want to play a high end game like Dead Trigger. Please switch to another ROM if you still want to play this game.

Headphones are the antenna. I don't see how it's possible without them.

FM Radio
I have an XPERIA S with the mod'd FM radio app that worked without the headphones plugged in, but it had to be in a VERY good reception area to pick up a station.
The other way, is just get a 3.5mm stereo plug with approx 60cm of cable (aerial) attached and you've got a cool antenna and then just play the radio through the speaker.
The menu has the "Play in Speaker" option already ... so you've already got all the best options.
Walks away and looks for Bluetooth headphones....
[Update]
Cool. With a metre of cable attached to a 3.5mm stereo plug I can listen to the radio on my Bluetooth headphones
I have the phone in the best reception location and via the magic of Bluetooth I can listen to the radio (and answer calls) approx 6 metres away.
Schumann ....classical music... all very civilized.

The mod is working in that case, you aren't hearing any sound because without the phones the signal of the station you're trying to hear is too weak...
