[Q] Hard or Soft Brick? Please help me - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm new with this... So I want to know if my Wildfire has a Hard or Soft Brick. It doesn't want to start up. Just stay in a blank screen saying ''HTC'' in green letters and it doesn't want to do anything else. I want to know if it has a Hard or Soft Brick, if you know the solution, tell me please.
PD: It enters to Recovery and Fastboot mode, but it doesn't have the HBoot downgrade and S-Off mode.

I think it is a soft brick as you can still boot into recovery. If you can boot into recovery then you can recover a backup of a rom that managed to boot earlier. However if you have't made a backup I think you can flash a new rom, just make sure you do a FULL WIPE though.

hey i have got same problem help us..
ONLY USE THIS METHOD, IF YOU ARE HAPPY WITH WOLRD WIDE ENGLISH FROYO BEING INSTALLED
Could possibly be because your using the wrong RRU or something like that, I'm no expert and I'm not sure what your exact problem is, however I know I had that problem and this is how I fixed it.
1) Download this version of Froyo 2.2 (Latest Release From HTC)
2) Rename it to PB99IMG and place it on the Root of you SDCard on your phone.
3) Boot into HBoot by Holding Vol-Down while Powering On
4) HBoot should automatically find the PB99IMG file and start to update your phone, this will take around 30 seconds for HBoot to get ready, and find the file so be patient and don't touch anything.
Hope this helped that version of Froyo isn't rootable, so after installing search for the Desire Downgrade package on XDA for a Downgrade to Eclair which is Rootable.
*Make sure that the PB99IMG file is in .zip format, otherwise it won't work.
** The file you are downloading was made by HTC, but is hosted on a website called Shipped-Roms. They have a rubbish server (to the UK anyway) so you may experience slow downloads.
*** If you have any other problems, do not hesitate to ask me.
**** The black screen you experienced was an Error Recovery screen. Very rare, but happens in worse case scenario.
*****The thread you used to try and make your own fix, used a file designed for a different scenario. It was a wrong RRU.
******If you get an Incorrect CID Error whilst running the update you need a Goldcard, follow my easy tutorial here.

I take it you are all ignoring me? I took my time to write a detailed way on how to fix your problem however if you are not interested in trying it then how are you ever going to fix your device?
help me. i cant fix anyway.
Did you try what jaaystott said to try? Saying what you have tried will help big time otherwise were just taking wild stabs in the dark here. Be more specific other than "help, needs fixing now!!!!!!!!!".
Download this RUU, run it and read what it says. The RUU might go into recovery and fix your issue, it did for me when I had the wrong partition table. Using a Goldcard might help as well if you get the CID error.
how to using GoldCard?
Any links about it.
anyone help me?
i am waiting. anyone help me. Please
Have you tried what has been previously mentioned in this thread?
What errors are you getting?
What rom are you using?
What rom was originally on the phone?
To get help, you need to supply more details.

i have found some way to make goldcard. but every way need phone must start froyo or another os. but my phone frozen on htc screen. it cant start os. how can i make goldcard?
Do you know anyone else with a Desire or Android phone?
You could put your sdcard in it to create the goldcard.
If you manage to get one, you could use 'gold card helper' from the market.

Your situation is not that clear to me.........be more specific as much as you can giving out details that would also help the reader of your issue.
For the meantime go to this link and make sure you followed all instructions carefully then you can go back in this thread for further clarifications if your issue still persists.
Sorry , wrote the OP from my phone..
Anyways the situation is : When I try to root the phone with revolutenary , once it gets to Zerging root after some time it says Root failed or something with a sad smiley.. What could be the cause for this? The phone also has a official update through built-in update feature but as soon as it's done downloading it it says that the downloaded file ( AKA update ) is corrupted/damaged and asks me if I want to redownload and it won't help either.
Hope I was clear enough.
Is it a desire or desire S?
Root and s-off 2 different things. Zerging (which I have never heard of) is nothing to do with root or s-off on the desire.

or is any option to upgrade HBOOT to 0.93?
Use official 2.3 HTC RUU, it will upgrade hboot to 1.02.0001 and you can then use revolutionary.
BTW. What ROM you had installed when you were trying to S-OFF?

The only requirement right now is that the ROM you're running is rooted.

Htc one sv - question

Hi I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this but I bought the above phone and when I turn it on it seems to be some sort of development phone , and when I look at things like software information it says protected next to it. What I was wondering is will I be able to update this phone normally as and when software is available or will I have any sorts of problems or restrictions with it?
Thanks in advance.
Its possible it's been rooted and s-off, it's best to look in your app drawer and look for a app called "su" or turn off phone the hold vol down and power at the same time. You will go into boot loader, at the top if it say "s-off" then it's rooted and no way to do official updates but that's ok rooted /custom roms are better

Also do you know how to tell if its open to any network without a sim to try in it.

Yes it means it didnt go through HTC Dev Unlock,(phone is still factory unlocked) and you have engineer Hboot(s-off) also you are SUPERCID, either a stock rom got flashed and removed "SU" or it could be called "superuser" check if you have that

Well the previous owner never did HTC Unlock, cause it would say "relocked" if he did a relock on the phone
Definitely no super user or su
So I should be unlocked for any network .
Does it matter if the boot loader is locked?
When I look at things like software version or processor etc it says protected , do you know why?
Also are there any Roms for this phone already do you know.

no that is Sim Unlock, SUPERCID and S-off means you are region free from the phone(superCID), and you have Fastboot capabilites(s-OFF)
i dont know if there is Roms for your phone, best choice is to google SV or do a search in here, if there is no SU or Superuser app next check if you have a custom recovery if you do then it will be very simple for you to flash a rom on to your phone, if you dont then there is some steps you need to do before you can do so
--------------------------edit-------------------
this is throwing me off a little bit, there is no real forums for the One SV, and i only found one root method, to even have s-off with a locked bootloader is weird, you may actually have a Developer Phone,
Is custom recovery an app? If so I don't have it. Or will it be in settings somewhere?

Not a app Hmm i say for now boot into android and hang till dev comes in and see what he says bout it, but what you are describing and what im looking at this could be really a developers phone from HTC
i could be compeletely wrong on that but it seems it is, as there is no s-off for it not any i could find, and the fact your hboot is still "locekd"
Ok thanks for your help so far, will check back in a while.

actually go here and post your pic to let others know, if your phone is a dev this is a golden egg, dont follow the root instructions, just let them know what you have the.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2113671
Most probably a dev phone. I thought at first that it could a test unit or an unreleased version but when I read mfg kernel my doubt was gone. Mfg allows even more stuff so there's still a chance you won't even need boot unlock even if it says otherwise. Keep in mind I'm just speculating.
A full backup of partitions could be handy for devs.

Its a test unit. One that has an eng hboot oddly enough. It does no good to achieve s-off but it does allow an eng hboot to be flashed once s-off is achieved. I have a surefire way to s-off the sv but can't get a tester
