Got my new Desire and i have a problem, i want to set a wallpaper that i have but problem is i can only drag the box to like half of the actual wallpaper size which is 480x800 so no fun getting half of the image only.. is there a setting for this?
You need to make your wallpapers 960*800
You need to make your wallpapers 960*800
eh what ? that cant be right, then all images will look really weird and stretched out..
the wallpapers are landscape and spread across all 7 screens. 960*480 sounds about right to me, being that the old 3 screen wallpapers were 640*480.....
you can not have a portrait wallpaper. Just not how android works.
960 by 800 works for me just fine. Not streched or weird.
I love the brilliant screen ! Looking for some high quality background that can match the PQ of the stock photos.
Try flikie hd wallpapers from the market

That's nice but the problem is Android has that wallpaper scrolling feature so it needs a wide image, not a tall narrow (WVGA) one.
For a Samsung Epic you actually want a 960x800 image. Of course anything that is at least that large in both dimensions should work, you'll just have to crop it. So 1280x800 (a common size) is fine as long as you don't mind cropping off parts of the sides. 1024x1024 iPad wallpapers should also work great, and again that expands the range of wallpapers available to you.
You can search Google for 960x800 as well as 960x854 (Moto Droid resolution). I also like InterfaceLift for wallpapers, some really nice looking landscapes and stuff there. Available in a lot of sizes - just get anything that is at least 960x800. The smallest images available at InterfaceLift that are bigger than 960x800 are the 1024x1024 iPad ones.
what do you think is the best live wallpaper that doesn't slow down phone and looks good I would like to know

I'm not a big fan of a live wp. But I like the optimus 2 wallpaper the rain one and can't remember Tue name off the top of my head but Tue one where it uses all your pics on in your dcim folder and changes them. Like a digital picture frame.

This.
I also liked starfield
There's also a DOOM lwp that's pretty easy on the battery. Plus that dev was making updates to the rendering engine every few days to better optimize it.

Wave Lite Live Wallpaper is great too. It's basically the PS3 live wallpaper, but on your phone. It also has good battery life because you can set the background to black, and the wave to white.
ballpaper
I have a few different favorite live wallpapers, as I have been using them for almost a year now (On one phone or the other). Most of them I see listed in the last few posts above me, but one I didn't see mentioned that I think is great, would be PhysX Pro Live wallpaper...
Physx Free/Pro live wallpaper is a bunch of configurable particles that bounce about around your screen. You can configure the colors of each particle, bounciness/rebound, size, and if you decide to turn attraction on, you can change the attraction/repulsion of each color of particle. If you don't want that, you can have them follow north on the compass, or just bounce around randomly. It looks really neat, and sort of high tech/sci-fi ish if your into that type of thing... definitly worth a look.

Logcat Live Wallpaper
I like the camera live wallpaper. Lets me do things on my phone and I can see where I'm going. It eats up battery a bit, but with a 3300 MaH battery, that's not really a problem.
Can anyone make this live wallpaper work on our Epics (prefferebly gingerbread). Ive noticed it on some of the Verisons Display Phones and love it! Ive googled it and cant seem to find anything that works. Im running CPK's Vendetta 1.1 EH17
Heres a link to the APK in a Droid incredible forum.... I also attached it with the Lib files

windmills live wallpaper
http://www.mediafire.com/?618aba7b15l435c
Not that I don't appreciate both of these, but I'm a little surprised at the size of the .apk's - the beach one is over 12mb and the windmill is over 7mb!
That seems crazy...

They're real, but the animations take up that much space because they take account of your location and have the weather in the lwp match real weather. But it's not the same LWP you're looking for. Those are from the GSII. That beach wallpaper beats out any of the ones we currently have I was able to install it on Froyo MIUI and it would kinda load but not Gingerbread either.

This beach lwp is different then the one I was looking for but thanks for the effort. Also the secret wallpapers show blank white screens on my gingerbread setup so they don't work either way

I'm having a hell of a time finding high DPI wallpapers for my S4. Usually I just go to wallbase.cc for wallpapers, but without a DPI meter I can't find any wallpapers that look as crisp and sharp as the default Samsung wallpapers.
Anyone have any ideas?

What I did is set walkable for 1920x1080 or 2200x1440 and I looked for textured images. Then I rotated them to mirror the S4 screen and set it as a wallpaper. Looks pretty legit.

I'm not sure if this relates to your question, but I just posted a thread on how to do customer HD wallpapers for those who aren't familiar with making customer wallpapers: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41310209&postcount=1
