[Q] TWRP issues - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I have searched around and cant find a answer for this. Its probably something simple that Im overlooking.
When I DL a rom, theme, or whatever when I go into my recovey 2.5.5.0. its not there. NONE of my internal memory folders show up. The SD card memory is there.
Now I use FX file Exploerer....so to flash anything I must move the zip to the "O" folder and put it in downloads. Why isnt my internal memory not showing up? Its a real pain to have to keep moving files when the internal memory has them and it should show in recovery.
Am I missing something here?

Ummm...no suggestions?

The 0 folder is the virtual sdcard (internal sdcard) and there is no need to use it at all, it has the exact same contents as /sdcard.
But don't think of it as a "duplicate" of some kind, it's a virtual partition so you really do not have any duplicate files or folders.
With your file manager navigate to the / root of the phone and there you will see /sdcard which is the default/normal internal sdcard,
If you want to check the external sdcard you would navigate to /storage/extsdcard .
The reason for this is that starting from v4.1.2 of the Jellybean firmware all future Jellybean firmwares are
mulit-user capable just like when you log into windows 7/8 which has the ability to handle more than one user
with security in mind.

I dont know if this helps but heres a lnk to check out.

Perhaps this is the reason why so many people who have flashed a 4.2.2 CM/AOSP/AOKP rom and for one reason
or another wanted to go back to the Touchwiz 4.1.1/4.1.2 roms kept having all these "error 7's" in twrp and cwm.

Thanks fellas. I will look into this a little further

How to fix the "0" folder?

Hi I flashed CM 10.1 with twrp, but was created the "0" folder in my sd card. Somebody know how can I fix this problem?

Googling helps when trying to find answers...
There are a lot of guides on how to "fix" this. If done CORRECTLY you will have only one 0 folder. You also need to update your recovery to the latest version.

this isn't a problem as such, this is just a new feature in 4.2.1. so if you create another users a folder called 1 will be created and so on, this is just the user-space of that particular user.
use TWRP recovery

Like the others said it's not necessary an error.
It would be an error if you flash another ROM and you end up with "Emulated/0/0" folder struckture.
For 4.2 roms, Install CWM recovery 6.0.2.3
Backups made after the instilation will be in data/media/clockworkmod.
To see the backup when you usb connect to a computer, you need to move the backup to data/media/0/clockworkmod.
The data/media/0 folder would have already been generated and is your new SD card directory.
CMW now has .tar back ups set as default. This means no more blobs folder and a complete backup is made.
You can select to save using the blobs folder method if you prefer.
So keep in mind if you have a backup using the blobs method that you want to restore, you may have to restore it before installing the latest version of cwm or switch between the .tar and dup methods (untried by me)
D3VIOUS runs a clockworkmod revovery thread on the development section, read the last 3-4 pages and your pretty much set.

it isnt a "problem" the sdcard format changed in 4.2 due to the multi-user feature being added.. now you have 2 choices
1. flash the latest twrp and you will only have that one "0" folder
2. use the guide linked in my sig to revert back to the old sdcard format and get rid of the "0" folder

files missing in TWRP/file explorer

I noticed while trying to flash a new kernal for lifeless 14.. I download the file like normal (in downloads folder) when i go to try and flash and select the file I dont see it anywhere. I reboot my phone and go back into recovery. I move the .zip to the root of the sdcard and i still cant see the file.
I notice a lot of files/folders missing in es file explorer. Its like as if im running a weird install that has all my files somewhere else but acting as if there are no files present.
Im trying to figure this out..
Do you have a folder named '0' in sdcard? (\sdcard\0)
yes. and well there are all of my folders.. how would i fix this?
You need to move the files to mnt/sdcard/0/download

Ok, now I've got a similar question: how do I find my TWRP backups? When I hit 'restore' in recovery, it doesn't show anything anymore....
The problem I've run into was that it created the sdcard/0 folder that is only visible from computer. I moved everything back to sd root and it was fine and dandy.... UNTIL! I flashed a new ROM, and it's as if the flash that created the 0 folder assigned that as data/media, and when I wiped to flash a new ROM, all data on the SD was cleaned off. Anyone else run into this issue? BTW, moving everything 1 folder up takes forever!

Files deleted from sdcard

I flashed carbon ROM. Everything was working great. Wanted to try some touchwiz ROMs so I flashed the virtue ROM. Got the sdcard/0. Read about it and so I renamed sdcard/0 to sdcard and moved it to replace the original sdcard. But in twrp I still couldn't find my files so I flashed back to carbon ROM and now I have sdcard and sdcard 0, sdcard 1 and emulator with a 0 file in and none of them have files in them. They're all empty. Seems as though everything has been deleted even my nandroids. Tb backups are gone. I can't even find the directory for twrp. But it seems like everything is still there cause my available storage is at 5gbs. I should have more than 5gbs available it seems like. I've searched and kind find anything when the files are missing. Any help would be appreciated. I'm at a loss as to what to do to get things back to normal.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
Dude. Never mess with the internal storage NEVER delete files you think are important. The file you messed with is the MAIN "sd card" "0" is where all your Samsung stuff goes to dude.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 2
I didn't have a 0 folder until I flashed to a tw ROM from carbon. Everything I read was that folder is created when u flash back from aosp to tw. Copy it back to the sdcard folder any everything should be normal. I did that and everything seemed fine but I didn't like the tw ROM I was in so I flashed back to carbon and that's when the other folders were created but everything was gone.
But the odd part is I still have twrp recovery but can't find it in root explorer and under storage it says I have 11 gbs total of which 5 are available. But it doesn't show anything using those 6gbs. Its almost like everything is there just hidden.
I'm wondering if I unroot and go back to stock state that clears it up or I just smash it and use my best buy insurance. Cause something's not right. Carbon ROM still working for me but having that little of storage available just seems like something is wrong.

Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
Alright. Im back on stock. Still rooted with stock recovery.
All of my files are still there as I thought. But they are buried. From what ive read I should be able to copy those back into the original sdcard folder. Im about to leave work and head home. I'll post the file paths if anyone is willing to walk me thru the process.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
That happened because you flashed CarbonRom which is 4.2.2, which changes the directory structure to support multiple user accounts.
You would have been alright if you hadn't mucked with the sdcard directory tree. Flash back to bone stock and you should be good. But never ever mess with sdcard directories again :silly:
So before I flashed anything I could find everything under home-> >sdcard. Now everything under that path is just empty folders except there is another sdcard folder that has everything full. Tb backups. Nandroids. Downloads. App data.
But if I go under home->> storage->>sdcard0->> sdcard everything is also in there. Duplicates.
Am I able to delete these or clean it up so I dont have doubles if everything? Its using up a lot of my storage.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
Im back on bare bone stock now by the way. Rooted with stock recovery.

If you're worried about losing any if your important content, including your nandroid backups, I recommend either transferring your content to a flash drive or to your pc that way you'll always have it and know where to look for it in case anything were to go wrong on your phone. You can also upload your content to a cloud but that can take a bit more time. If this helped please hit thanks as it really does help my status here on XDA.

No. Nandroids are recovery dependant. You would need to revert back to TWRP in oder to restore that backup and vice versa if a backup was made in CWM. Install GooManager from the Play Store, hit menu, then select "Install Openscriptrecovery" to flash the latest TWRP.

You can use CWM or TWRP. What he's saying is you cannot recover a TWRP backup through CWM or vice versa.
So if you plan to use CWM, make a backup with CWM so you can recover in case something goes wrong. Your TWRP backup will not work with CWM.
