How to fix the "0" folder? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi I flashed CM 10.1 with twrp, but was created the "0" folder in my sd card. Somebody know how can I fix this problem?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app

Googling helps when trying to find answers...
There are a lot of guides on how to "fix" this. If done CORRECTLY you will have only one 0 folder. You also need to update your recovery to the latest version.

If you are not going to give meaningful help, perhaps it would be better not to say anything.

The irony.
OP. It's a 4.2 thing. Not a problem. Use the search in the future there are dozens of threads about this.

I WAS going to leave it at the Google part. However, I left it up to you do your own work instead of spoon feeding you.

this isn't a problem as such, this is just a new feature in 4.2.1. so if you create another users a folder called 1 will be created and so on, this is just the user-space of that particular user.

use TWRP recovery

Like the others said it's not necessary an error.
It would be an error if you flash another ROM and you end up with "Emulated/0/0" folder struckture.

For 4.2 roms, Install CWM recovery 6.0.2.3
Backups made after the instilation will be in data/media/clockworkmod.
To see the backup when you usb connect to a computer, you need to move the backup to data/media/0/clockworkmod.
The data/media/0 folder would have already been generated and is your new SD card directory.
CMW now has .tar back ups set as default. This means no more blobs folder and a complete backup is made.
You can select to save using the blobs folder method if you prefer.
So keep in mind if you have a backup using the blobs method that you want to restore, you may have to restore it before installing the latest version of cwm or switch between the .tar and dup methods (untried by me)
D3VIOUS runs a clockworkmod revovery thread on the development section, read the last 3-4 pages and your pretty much set.

it isnt a "problem" the sdcard format changed in 4.2 due to the multi-user feature being added.. now you have 2 choices
1. flash the latest twrp and you will only have that one "0" folder
2. use the guide linked in my sig to revert back to the old sdcard format and get rid of the "0" folder

I am posting this despite how new you are.
I will outline exactly how this should work.
go here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2050297
Download the attached apk.
Make sure that you have unknown sources enabled in setting/security
Install the apk
Run the app
scroll down to 'Root device' and tap it.
Let it do its thing and if it doesn't automatically reboot after I would say 8 to 10 minutes, reboot the phone.
You should be rooted.
Do not do anything else other than what I listed unless you read the entire thread i posted for you.
Not allowed to flash clockwork?
Thanks for the advice and now at the point to flash clockwork rom manager and it says device unsupported? Any ideas?

You can't do it from ROM manager. Like I said, Don't do anything else.

Stop, read the stickies and how to s. Search is your friend.

It's nice to see people actually help noobs out. It all seems so easy once you understand how it works but it can be overwhelming and a little verbose. Especially, the instructions for the Roms I started with and hoping inside that you don't brick your phone on the first try.
I do thank you all for the help. I did somewhat mess it up but recovered and flashed rooted ics and agat recovery. So thanks again. Can't wait to start flashing. By the way I was in recovery to create nan backup and it says sd-ext not found sd-ext skipped shows md5 then complete? Is that normal? Or should I be able to see it on sd? It seems as though it has taken up space but wanting to be sure? However.. Thanks so much

So its ok? That means it is on my sd? Just trying to be sure since the backup isn't obvious by name. Maybe it is but I haven't seen it. Or maybe I've overlooked it? Any advice on what it would be labeled as?

No it skipped the sd-ext partition during backup since it doesnt exist. Your backup location depends on if you chose backup to internal or external
I like to break stuff!
It doesn't let me choose external and also now I cannot move aps to my sd card? Says unable to move ap? Is that due to flashing the new recovery? I followed the steps and it rebooted correctly however now it saves nandroid to my internal only and won't allow apps to be moved to sd? Any advice? I've looked all over and am somewhat confused.

Depending on the cwm version It does it automatically if you just choose backup but it should give you option in backup menu below to backup to internal sd card. On my phone it's always been on extSd/clockworkmod/backup.
If you Mobile Odin agats New FL16 repack, it gives you option for sure

Online nandroid screwed me. Or did it? Help.

So I made a backup of my Aokp rom with a long times worth of tweaks and settings, with online nandroid. I flashed another rom and hated it, so I went to go restore my backup and it was nowhere to be found in CWM. Does anyone have any idea where it went? I couldn't find it in the backup folder and onandroid didn't make a folder in my SD

i stopped using cwm a while bac,k use twrp now much better imho. it should be in the internal sd card under cwm-backup-blobs.
Can you post the log file at /data/local/tmp/onandroid.log
Did you save the backup to the internal SD and accidentally wipe it while flashing the new ROM you didn't "care" for? Hate is such a strong word especially here..it comes down to user preference..no ROM.is a bad ROM really..its just what you want to get out of it.
One more reason for me to not use the online nandroids. Never liked the sound of if when it came out. Too many things can go wrong.

It will still be unlocked right? And when I flash the rom I still put T-Mobile in the set up? Also one more thing how do I know if my phone is ics. Or jb cause I have the v8 jb downloaded I'm sry for all the question I just wanna be 100% before I do this
I'll try to answer a few of them which i can

*it'll still be unlocked
*check android version in settings - about 4.0.4 = ics 4.1.x/4.2.x=jb

If you're worried about losing any if your important content, including your nandroid backups, I recommend either transferring your content to a flash drive or to your pc that way you'll always have it and know where to look for it in case anything were to go wrong on your phone. You can also upload your content to a cloud but that can take a bit more time. If this helped please hit thanks as it really does help my status here on XDA.

No. Nandroids are recovery dependant. You would need to revert back to TWRP in oder to restore that backup and vice versa if a backup was made in CWM. Install GooManager from the Play Store, hit menu, then select "Install Openscriptrecovery" to flash the latest TWRP.

You can use CWM or TWRP. What he's saying is you cannot recover a TWRP backup through CWM or vice versa.
So if you plan to use CWM, make a backup with CWM so you can recover in case something goes wrong. Your TWRP backup will not work with CWM.

[Q] TWRP issues

I have searched around and cant find a answer for this. Its probably something simple that Im overlooking.
When I DL a rom, theme, or whatever when I go into my recovey 2.5.5.0. its not there. NONE of my internal memory folders show up. The SD card memory is there.
Now I use FX file Exploerer....so to flash anything I must move the zip to the "O" folder and put it in downloads. Why isnt my internal memory not showing up? Its a real pain to have to keep moving files when the internal memory has them and it should show in recovery.
Am I missing something here?

The 0 folder is the virtual sdcard (internal sdcard) and there is no need to use it at all, it has the exact same contents as /sdcard.
But don't think of it as a "duplicate" of some kind, it's a virtual partition so you really do not have any duplicate files or folders.
With your file manager navigate to the / root of the phone and there you will see /sdcard which is the default/normal internal sdcard,
If you want to check the external sdcard you would navigate to /storage/extsdcard .
The reason for this is that starting from v4.1.2 of the Jellybean firmware all future Jellybean firmwares are
mulit-user capable just like when you log into windows 7/8 which has the ability to handle more than one user
with security in mind.

(GUIDE)EFS/Emergency calls only/not registered with network- WHY, WHEN & HOW TO SOLVE
HI Mates, there are already a lot of comments posted about efs. But I think a detail need to talk about. Here we are:
# suddenly you find that your phone is not getting the network. When you try to make a call it says: not registered with network. Problem remains even after restock.
WHY & WHEN
usually it happens while you flash(sometimes dirty) roms often and/or
Switching from AOSP to AOKP to SAMMY vice versa. .
HOW TO SOLVE
as you are flashing roms, naturally you are rooted and you have a root explorer. Roms from 4.1 and later ones automatically creats a efs back up while you flashing a new one. When you found the disturbances, with a root explorer search for the folder "efs_Backup".
The location varies from rom to rom. You may find it under sdcard, may find under /data/media or somewhere else. After you find the folder
Open it
You will find several zip files created in different dates. Those dates are your rom flashed dates.
Choose the right dated one remembering when your phone was fine.
Extract the zip.
Go to /efs
Delete entire contents of the folder.
Go to the efs zip extracted folder.
Selct all and move them to the /efs folder.
Your phone is back as normal!
