I have searched and searched to find some useful way to root my One x running the stock Jelly Bean Rom but nothing I found has worked. I read as far as unlocking the bootloader you do it the same way as you would on Ice Cream Sandwich, so I followed the unlock method as shown on OneXroot.com but my phone doesn't respond to the exploiter. I've also tried running the 2.20 ruu from AT&T but I should have known that method wasn't going to work from the beginning. Has anyone successfully rooted their One X after updating to Jelly Bean, if so how did you do it. If I need to downgrade to ICS in order to root my phone let me know how because I'm not having any luck. Again I tried to search for a solution instead of posting this but nothing useful came up. Most of the time the results were unresolved questions. So in short, I need help with unlocking the bootloader and then rooting my phone which is running 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.
You have the AT&T version of one or the International one? If AT&T, this isn't the correct forum for you...
If you have the international one x (Quad Core) then follow the steps on htcdev.com to unlock your bootloader!

Hi,
as the subject suggests i'm having trouble downgrading my DHD, i thought by unlocking my bootloader with the official unlock installing an other rom would be easy... but it doesn't seem to be as strait forward as i've hoped.
so now i've decided to actually downgrade and root my DHD that way, the only trouble is... that i can't seem to downgrade.
I tried all methods i could find without success.. so now i'm stuck... can any one please advice on this matter?
the versions are:
Android: 2.3.5
HTC sense: 3.0
Software: 3.12.405.1

Hi All,
Jut looking for some general advice and opinons. I have a onex that i havent unlocked or obviously rooted yet, I know its CID is HTC_001 and
S-on. So my general question should I go ahead and unlock and root and take advantage of a JB sense 4+ rom, or wait and go for the OTA JB.
Regards
qball
Take the advantage . It's a big leap .

I recommend rooting and flashing custom rom, I myself had some problems but it will be worth it.
Oh and I had this Htc desire Z, which wasn't exactly easy to root years ago.
just to give a heads up. You can't go back after upgrading your hboot version. Once you decided to use Jellybean sense rom with the latest versions of hboot, you have to use special boot img to boot non-sense ROM and as of now it will render your GPS useless. Unless you are among the lucky ones with S-OFF device

If your bootloader is already unlocked, flash CWM recovery and then Superuser. Follow the guide in my signature. Being new or a noob won't excuse your from reading and searching.
I have restored and such on my Samsung/Nexus devices but browsing through here has me all confused haha.
My friend has a Virgin Mobile HTC Desire 816 (USA stock non rooted), he recently accepted the Lollipop update that came out updating you guys to 5.0.2. The issue is his phone is constantly rebooting now and would like to return to the firmware before you guys got 5.0.2 (Which I assume the Desire was on 4.4.4?)
I can't seem to find a guide that doesn't involve rooting and such, and I see mention of something called RUU? Is there a site that has all of the past firmwares to flash? Any guidance on how to accomplish the old firmware flash would be greatly appreciated!

You'll have to root and unlock bootloader then relock boot loader but you should be able to get back to KitKat this way
Or just run the kk ruu.exe...found in the same link
Hoping to not broke any rule with this thread i've need some help with a HTC One VX
Is a phone that was given to me by a friend, screen digitizer got broken and the phone was stored for some time, the phone works awesome, i'm using it as a basic phone but i have a little problem, the phone is working on android 4.0.4 some apps do not let me get them downloaded because of the version (obiously out of date )
Now, i've saw some threads here on xda about 4.1.2 updates and that kind of stuff, the phone is completely stock, never rooted and bootloader never unlocked, i don't really know exactly what s-on and cid is but i've read some of it.
The question is based on this:
I've downloaded this file:
RUU_TOTEMC2_UL_JB_45_S_Cingular_US_2.22.502.1_Radio_1.18.40.00.07_10.68.40.33I_release_333604_new.exe
But according to the info on my phone it must surely has this as is actual firmware:
RUU_TOTEMC2_UL_ICS_40_Cingular_US_1.17.502.5_R2_Radio_0.10.40f.00.24_2_10.26.40f.04L_R_release_293864_signed.exe
All i'm basically saying is that i don't want this phone to die, if i use the JB RUU will my phone die?
Try to factory software update method first
