I have the official aokp rom flashed for my i317m. Does anyone know I can install halo on it? I've been looking around all morning but I haven't found anything.
Thanks.

You cant just install Halo. You will have to flash a rom like paranoid that has it built in.
Halo is not an app it is a system wide feature. Currently the only rom that has halo is Paranoid Android. But it still under beta so they did not release the source for it.
Thanks guys. I tried PA a few months ago but it wasn't too stable at the time. Can you comment on it's current state? I need something that's going to work with bluetooth (I'm having difficulties AOKP and bluetooth right now). I like to keep my custom roms as mainstream/official as possible (ie; CM, AOSP/AOKP, PA, MIUI, etc.)

Try that almost like halo

P (aranoid) A (okp) C (yanogenmod) is rock solid. check it out. halo build in, along with phablet/tablet UI's and all of your familiar AOKP features.

So I basically just flashed my yakjuxw build to yakju, to get my hands on Jellybean. The experience is more than awesome, buttery smooth and fast! Now, I wonder, what will (for example) AOKP bring to the table to make it 'even more' buttery and fast, etc? I'm not much of a tweaker, I just really wonder if there will be any SIGNIFICANT advantages over stock rom. It all seems a bit silly to me.
Every other Android phone I have had I've flashed all the ROMs available purely to try and have the stock experience or get to a new version of Android. I purchased the Galaxy Nexus so I would get all the updates when released and to enjoy the stock experience, I have no intention of installing custom ROMs on this device.
Cheers
Jason
aokp brings few options to try with not the speed. It's the user experience that get enhanced with custom roms.
Similarly cm10 aosp and stock custom Roms do the same but not as much as cm10 and aokp do natively.

So what you're saying is that it's mostly visual differences? I mean what are the key elements that AOKP/ CM10 provide?

Watch a video or something. Aokp brings a lot of new features, such as customizable navbar, options to move your clock and change your battery icon and what not, weather and calendar on your lock screen. That's the type of things you'll see on a custom ROM.

Custom ROMs are more about extra features. At least when it comes to builds like Jelly Bean. I don't see Jelly Bean needing much in performance enhancements.

Aokp or cyan brings TONS of useful real world features. Its not just visual stuff or fluff. If you are asking then you aren't aware what these roms offer.
The problem is their JB versions don't have much added yet. So you'd have to flash their ICS version to see a fully loaded rom.

Noted. It sounds interesting. It's just that it makes my head spin sometimes, all the possibilities I guess we have to wait until a good JB rom shows up. However, isn't it slightly annoying you have to reflash the whole time to get the newest builds etc? I just don't see myself doing that the whole time
I am getting a nexus Monday. Right now I have a note. I have been reading the last coupledays to try and catch up but maybe I have missed something. Isn't there already good jellybean roms out already? Like Paranoid Android?

Alot of roms use Rom Manager or Goo Manager to host or link to their roms, with goo manager you can update most roms like an ota update when ever the dev updates the rom on Goo.im , same holds true with Rom Manager though i dont recall which website is used.
As far as both CyanogenMod and AOKP you can use these applications so that you dont have to search for the latest and greatest, just hit a button telling the application to check for updates and if there is one it applies it for you and phone updates nice and easy, of course you have to let the phone reboot to recovery and what not but the entire process becomes automated.

No not at all. Before jelly bean, I just flashed a loaded aokp and ran it for months and months. No need to upgrade. Currently JB roms need to be merged but once they are finished just flash one and go live life using the extra functions. If you are looking for a hobby then yes flash each week.
And as mentioned, most of the time you can just flash the rom update just like an OTA and you don't lose anything. Its just like an official ota update.
What ROM is closest to stock Android like for the Nexus 4? Not something like CM10 where is adds apps and Trebuchet and stuff. Just completely stock, like the SuperNexus ROMS?
Like Touchwiz stock or AOSP stock?

He wants a pure AOSP experience. Not one that has been customized farther like CM or AOKP.
As for ROMs that meet your need, I think most AOSP ROMs for our G3s also use source from CM and AOKP. But looking quickly, it appears LiquidSmooth or SlimBean may suit your desires.
I figured as much, here are the links to Slimbean and Liquidsmooth: (and i'll look around for some more and post if i find them)

Try SlimBean of LiquidSmooth like stated above. They're the closest to pure AOSP for our devices.
Thanks guys! I was looking for a 4.2.1 ROM so I'm gonna go ahead and give LiquidSmooth a shot. I really appreciate the help
Just kidding, I'm gonna try SlimBean because I'm getting 500-Internal Error on goo.im

+1 and i think goo is having some server issues.
get.cm is always up and running
Cm is the closest to stock experience. Unless you build your own and don't include the custom toggles and other tweaks...
Hi
Looking for a bit of help, first time trying to do this with a tablet and i didn't seem to pick an easy one
I managed to acquire an end of line demo model Versus Touchpad 10.1, thing is, i'm looking to put a stock android rom onto it, preferably of a more current version of android than what is currently on the tablet (4.1). Any help on this would be appreciated, i've checked into CM but i couldn't find one that was related the the versus touchpad. Not looking for anything fancy, just looking for a more current version of android to put onto this tablet. Thank you

hello! my brother rooted my phone last week before he left out of the country and he left me his xda info to ask if i had any questions since i wont be able to contact him much. my question is, does anyone know of a rom i can use that has functioning wifi tether? we have the unlimited plan but no tether and i would really love to use it. my brother installed darthstalker x and im kinda bored of it (its a great rom dont get me wrong). im just looking for something like an aokp? or aosp? idk what the difference is.. and if possible, maybe with the same motion functionality like on the original s3 rom. i like sliding my hand across to screen capture and all that haha. thanks for all the help!
ps he also installed a different kernel? idk what that means except that he said that i'll get better battery life, thats always a plus
If you want motion functions then you need to stay with a touchwiz based ROM, I think most of them have the free tether cooked in by now, it should say in the first post or changelogs if it does or not

CyanogenMod 10.1 4.2.2 latest nightly works great, including encrypted WiFi hotspot as long as you flash a kernel with it. Stock Cyanogen kernel breaks encryption. The kernel I am using right now is LeanKernel, and everything works great.
Another great ROM is PACman 4.2.1, which is a combination of ParanoidAndroid, AOKP, and CyanogenMod. I stopped using it, cause the settings are kind of a mess at the moment with most of the AOKP options being blank, but again, everything works on it, including encrypted Hotspot, and Bluetooth streaming. I like this ROM mostly because of the ParanoidAndroid settings that let you change the screen density, and per app density. This one does not need another kernel to get the hotspot working.
Here are some links:
CyanogenMod 10.1
LeanKernel
PACman ROM
Oh, and some info on tethering....T-mobile blocks it on PC's using pretty much any ROM, but you can spoof it with a browser UserAgent change and you should be good to go.

I have cynogenMod 10.1 nightly build 20130213 and LeanKernal 2.4. Still couldn't get secure wi-fi hotspot running. Any advice? What am I doing wrong?
update: got my t-mobile samsung s3 running SECURED wi-fi hotspot. :good: ...
I used cynogenMod 10.0 stable version, released on 2012-11-13
Now I'm going to test out other stuff, like making phone calls, call qualities...etc. The most important feature for me is the secure wi-fi.

You went back to a 4.1 build, wifi tether worked fine back then.
If you want 4.2.2 with encrypted wifi, try the latest CM10.1 nightly with LeanKernel 2.6. That combo works perfect for me.
Getting frustrated trying to find KK ROMs for the XT907. Most i find aren't working and the other ones i find, i can't seem to even find a link for them.
Anyone recommend any good KK ROMs for the XT907?? Currently using CM11 and it blows - phone is pretty much unusable without a reboot daily.
Thanks!

But you still can use fresh biulds from Validus or Vanir / Commotio

If it blows so bad, then go back to stock. You do realize that most of the aftermarket ROMs out right now are CM based? So, they're going to have the same bugs. Like Bwen said, the DR Devs site is down right now, that hosts a ton of the ROMs for the M.

I have devhost and mediafire mirrors of 4.1.2 and 4.4.2 stock ROMs if anyone wants. Please PM.
Also, what exactly are the bugs on CM-based KK ROMs? I experienced mainly Wi-Fi issues. Can you corroborate that Wi-Fi is an issue on CM ROMs? Also, what other issues, if any?
Thanks!

Hi Guys,
I'm looking for a stock-like (vanilla) ROM based on Android 4.4x.
I tried some AOSP ROMs, but they were full of bloated 3rd party apps and annoying mods.
Any recommendations?
Thanks!
Have you tried Shiny ?

Not yet, but I'm going to.
Like @crs7 said,Shiny is your best bet. Its like what official stock 4.4 would have been for our device. If you want slightly more features like theme chooser and reordering quick toggles,I'd suggest Paranoid Android.

I tried Paranoid Android (latest stable build), it's really decent, but i was having random graphical lags on my device.
Hmm, running the alpha build. It seems fine for me
I flashed Shiny ROM and that's pretty much what I wanted.
There is a minor graphical lag there-and-there. I guess it appears on all 4.4x ROMs... I can live with it.
I'll give Paranoid Android another try.
I'm going with Paranoid, it seems a lot more stable than Slim. Thanks for the advice.
Shiny would be your way to go if you want to get the most of AOSP and no more. but if you want a bit more features than what AOSP offered, try Paranoid Android 4.44, you will like its balanced stability and usability.
