Gravity screen off - Nexus 4 Themes and Apps

Great app for turning on and off the phonescreen through motions, replaces the power button and swipe to unlock. Tried it and it works great, No root required. Link https://play.google.com/store/apps/...NvbS5wbGV4bm9yLmdyYXZpdHlzY3JlZW5vZmZmcmVlIl0. Enjoy

As per the FAQ's
Q: I'm experiencing high battery usage, why?
A: The app should use about 5 percent extra energy per day if you are not using too much the Turn Screen On by Motion feature, for example keeping your phone face down when it's on a table. Moreover, please, keep in mind that the android en-built battery consumption measurement can show much higher results if it's based on a short period of time.

I've been using it for about a month or so and can say that I experience no battery drain with this app. Excellent app!

Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app

Have been using this app for a day now and i don`t notice a significant battery drain caused by the app itself and it works flawlessly as it should for me. Very happy with it so far

A great application and battery consumption now have been good.

Cool Brightness Shortcut

So I was just messing around with my phone and I found this cool way to change your brightness settings without having to go into settings. So besically all you have to do is slide across the top bar of the phone (where the time, battery, and data signal notifiers are). But do not pull down the notification bar just slide across the bar sliding to the right turns up the brightness sliding it left turns down the brightness. It works on GB and ICS. I dont know if this is a known feature or if samsung put it in there or if its just a glitch but i just wanted to share it.

Lmao.. this is where CM7 got the idea from. Aswell as having toggles in the notification bar, also borrowed from Twiz.
I am not flaming, but do non of toy even look at your operation manual?
First the screen shot key combo and now this. I guess cracking the manual open for five minutes does have its purpose.
Any other Sammy secrets deep within the dreaded user manual?

I've been using android for over two years and I didn't know about the existence of this shortcut. Thanks for sharing!
To the flamers: Keep it up. Pretty soon you'll completely destroy any atmosphere of sharing and open exchange and render XDA irrelevant as a resource for new, experienced users and everyone in between.

Pretty Cool for our GS3's

Found this over at Android Central Today.
Never knew anything like this existed for our phones.
anyways check it out.

It worked for me! It's not really that useful, but I did find out the S3 has a barometric pressure sensor.

Maybe someone will (or even has) write an app for some peer networking weather prediction system. And maybe the barometer helps with the GPS for altitude readings.
if your a climber hiker just a outdoorsy person like me, sypressure makes a great app with a baro altimeter and if you know that falling or rising pressure means changing weather you can monitor that too its kinda cool actually. the gps altitude you see on a straight gps program like gps tool box is always off by a long shot.
Nice this will work great for when I am porting MIUI!!! Thanks for this find..... Oh wait it probly only occurs on the stock ROM.... Damnit. Still be on the lookout for some MIUI

[Mod] Increase Max Brightness

WARNING:
Using this mod may decrease battery life, decrease screen life and/or quality, cause overheating, cause your phone to blow up or cause other damage to your phone. Use at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damage this mod causes to your phone.
This Mod will increase the max brightness of your phone by about 10%.
Note:
Auto Brightness must be turned off for this to work.
Root is required for this Mod.
Instructions:
Download and run app attached to this post.
Or. ..
echo 1 > /sys/class/backlight/panel/auto_brightness
If you reboot or enable auto brightness you have to run it again.
The best way to tell if it worked would be to run it when your screen is already at full brightness. You'll see it go a bit brighter.
Tested on T-Mobile Note II, but this may work in many Samsung Galaxy phones.
Been working here for the past few days. ..helps a lot outside. Thanks.
Side note...this shouldn't be in this section... themes and apps...jeremyandroid posted it there a few days ago.

There is a reason its not maxed by default. Just a fair warning about the OLED screen. The original settings (100%) gave Samy a very laege headache. The resulting setting keeps a few nasty side effects at bay. Be prepared for ectra heat, short battery life and some screen fade if not managed properly.......... Just a warning is all *cough cough.

Cover + Aviate = Wowza

These 2 apps running together really make my smartphone just a little bit.... Smarter. That being said, I have noticed about 10% extra battery drain than normal. But Its not even a deal breaker for me anyways.
Give cover a shot http://bit.ly/HFkZTu
i hated aviate... will try cover.. thanks
Aviate was "do-able", have since went back to my standard touchwiz though. Cover is more of my thing for now. If it doesn't drain too much buttery on me over time, it'll be a keeper.
